New year, New start!

“Y

es, you have read it right. I have received many emails since the publication has been suspended for a long period.

We say something to a friend and then are ostracized from them for the rest of our lives.

It has been two years, the last issue was published on July 2014, we could not able to release it due to various reasons. The team has focused its vision on other areas.

John 10:10 “…I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.”

We have learned many things about reaching to the masses and sharing the Good News. We were engaged with mission trips in different parts of India, partnering with the International Ministries. However, during this time we never forget the vision of FiveTalents Magazine.

And yet, Christ said in John’s gospel:

2Co 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” The good news is that God says, “I want to do something new in your life. I want to give you a fresh start, a new beginning.”

Yes, there is a RESTART! now we can re-focus to the vision that God has shown to us.

This news is a major element of our Christian faith – to start fresh and have a new beginning with God.

We have experienced many setbacks and failures throughout our lives. Sometimes we allow these mistakes, these setbacks and failures to enslave us to the point that we never enjoy the full Christian life that God has given us to enjoy.

At the beginning of a new year, it is customary for us to think of this as a time of new beginnings, a time for new resolutions. But the truth is that with God anytime is a time for a new beginning.

We have a dead-end job and we feel stuck thinking, “I went into the wrong career and now there is nothing I can do about it.” We get married, only to find the marriage is a failure. It may end in divorce, or it may survive as a tragic, unending chain of arguments and fights.

New beginnings come to those who step out in faith. To change anything in your life by the power of God takes faith. Let’s have faith in God who changes our lives. RESTART! Life with God is the NEW CREATION with Him. Blessed Happy New Year!

Empty Sepulchre a band that started its journey in August 2013, means empty grave, coming from Matt 28:7. We believe in Jesus, the living God, and that he left an Empty grave. And that’s what we proclaim. The band played with a different name prior to empty sepulchre, with a different agenda. One day we realized that we could do more with what music we have, and through God’s help, we began a new journey. Well, most of us are family. We’ve known each other from a while. Friends. We meet rarely to practice, but more often to just spend time with each other. Staying Tight as a band, makes our music that much Tighter. Innumerable Christian organizations have backed the Christian music scene, and we are very greatful to all the people who’ve trusted and given us a platform to do what we desire to do. Going for competitions and playing at fests of colleges, helps us reach crowds that might not be exposed to a Christian environment normally. The band won a majority of the competitions it participated in, right from our 1st victory on August 15th in 2013. With every step we took forwards, we scaled greater heights and we’re invited to play in other states far up north, by colleges for his glory. Hello im Suman Kumar. Im the Lead Guitarist of the band. It was my childhood dream to be a guitarist and play in bands. I started playing guitar when i was 16. Watching other bands, while they sang and praised his name, made me ask myself what couldn’t I do it too? Dis was when i realized my talent was given by God and i should give him all the glory and praises through what ever i do. This is my Ultimate Goal as a guitarist/musician. Act of worshiping God dosent always have to be by singing songs or by playing music. People go through a lot of struggles in life. If u can help him/her through the struggles, spread the Word of God and give the glory to him its an act of Worshiping God.

Hi I’m Nithin Richardson. Im 23 years old. Im the lead guitarist of the band. I started playing guitar in the year 2012 as a hobby. Started learning since then, and then later on became a passion while looking at many musicians in the city. I have a goal which is to be one of the finest guitarists in the field. Later an organisation called Youth For Christ(YFC) chose me to be a worship leader at one of their youth gatherings which happens every week. Since then, the way God touched me and the way that He showed His True Love upon me changed my entire Life. Since then started worshipping God, later formed this band know and since 4 years now we’ve been together worshipping The Greatest God never and will always do personally and as a band.

Hello, my name is Kenneth Harisson , I’m 21 years old and I’m the drummer of the band. I have been learning and playing Drums from the past 12 years. I have been very passionate about music from as long as I can remember. It all started while I was drumming on pillows while my dad played the guitar. What ever I have achieved is with the help of god and I am forever grateful for his talents and mercy.

How do I know which of God’s promises are for me? There are literally hundreds of God’s promises in the Bible. How can we know which promises apply to us, which promises we can claim? To frame this question another way, how can one tell the difference between general promises and specific promises? A general promise is one that is given by the Holy Spirit to every believer in every age. When the author penned the promise, he set no limitations on time period or recipient. An example of a general promise is 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” This promise is based on the forgiving nature of God and is available to all believers everywhere. Another example of a general promise is Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This promise is made to all believers who, refusing to worry, bring their requests to God (v. 8). Other examples of general promises include Psalm 1:3, Psalm 27:10, Psalm 31:24, “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord. “, John 4:13-14, “Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.“ (note the word “whoever”); and Revelation 3:20, A specific promise is one that is made to specific individuals on specific occasions. The context of the promise will usually make clear who the recipient is. For example, the promise of January-February 2017

1 Kings 9:5 is very specific: “I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever.” The preceding and following verses make it clear that God is speaking only to King Solomon. Luke 2:35 contains another specific promise: “And a sword will pierce your own soul too.” This prophecy/promise was directed to Mary and was fulfilled in her lifetime. While a specific promise is not made to all believers generally, the Holy Spirit can still use a specific promise to guide or encourage any of His children. For example, the promise of Isaiah 54:10 was written with Israel in mind, but the Holy Spirit has used these words to comfort many Christians today: “my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed.” As he was led to take the gospel to the Gentiles, the apostle Paul claimed the promise of Isaiah: “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth” (Acts 13:47). Isaiah’s promise was originally meant for the Messiah, but in it Paul found guidance from the Lord for his own life. When claiming one of God’s promises from Scripture, we should keep the following principles in mind: 1. God’s promises are often conditional. Look for the word “if” in the context. 2. God gives us promises to help us better submit to His will and trust Him. A promise does not make God bend to our will. 3. Do not assume to know precisely when, where, or how God’s promises will be fulfilled in your life.

Facing the Giants in Your Life George Powell This is the first part of the article series published in past edition, the continuation of this is on the following page and will be published in the next editions too.

PART ONE

ll of us face them . . . those situations or people that seem to tower over us sometimes leaving us paralyzed in our tracks and sometimes running for our lives. Whenever I think of giants I think of one of the greatest stories in the Bible, the story of young David facing big Goliath, the champion of the Philistines, who stood over 9 feet tall and daily threatened the army of God. You can find his story in the Old Testament book of I Samuel 17. It truly is an amazing story that took place in the Valley of Elah many, many years ago, yet contains timely life and leadership lessons for us today, regardless of the culture in which we live. This will be one of a series of articles written to help us learn and apply some of those lessons. Here are three giant statements about giants. 1. Every giant introduces a person to himself. 10

Every time you or I face a giant it reveals a lot about who we are. Whether a personal crisis, a person, or an overwhelming problem, that giant serves as a mirror to help me see myself. I remember one of the first ministry giants I faced was in the form of a tiny, petite lady in our church who happened to be the wife of one of the leaders in the church and the church secretary. To get to the point, she didn’t like the way I was running the youth program and proceeded to discuss it with everyone else but me. Essentially she was undermining everything I did. Realizing this just couldn’t continue, I mustered up all the courage I could as a young kid of 21 years of age, and confronted her on the issue. I shared with her how what she was doing was hurting my ministry and how I needed her support as a person of influence in the church.

I’m happy to say that she responded favorably and as a result I not only gained her support but also her respect. Someone has said, “The size of a person is measured by the size of the challenges he or she is willing to face.”

people who had been under overwhelming odds. Booker T. Washington, the great AfricanAmerican educator once said: “You cannot ever judge success by what position you have, you can only judge success by what you had to overcome to get there.”

You see, a lot of times, rather than face the giant we choose to run from it, ignore it, or 3. Giants are often tools God uses to shape us just pretend it doesn’t exist. for even bigger things. That giant encounter helped me learn that every giant I was ever going to face in life was going to reintroduce me to myself. And when I faced them and dealt with them appropriately, though not always successfully, I could walk away with a certain amount of self-respect. I could say to myself, “George, that took courage. Way to go! You were not sure how that was going to turn out but you faced it! Good job.” “A challenge doesn’t make us . . . it only reveals the stuff of which we are made.”

Giants are tools God uses to make us better people, stronger people, and more mature people. In the story of David and Goliath, it was not uncommon for one man to represent an army. They did that so there would not be a major loss of life. Each army would send forth their champion and put him up against the opposing army’s warrior. And whichever army won would submit to a certain period of slavery to the other nation.

2. People who are growing to their highest potential have defeated giants.

In other words, the giant represented something much bigger than just himself. He represented the whole army.

It is true about sports teams, business teams, church leadership teams, marriages, families . . . no one will never be all they can be without somewhere, sometime facing and overcoming great obstacles.

Likewise, the giants you and I face seldom stand alone. Most problems you and I face represent a lot more that just what we are encountering or what we are seeing at the moment.

In 1962 a book was published that is now An important lesson for you and me is simply out of print called, Cradles of Imminence. this: when a giant defeats us, others close to It was a book that studied the lives of 413 us suffer, too. PART TWO

n last issue of FiveTalents, I introduced the topic of Facing the Giants in Your Life. They may not be literal giants like the one David faced who stood over nine feet tall, but we face them nonetheless, and they come in all shapes and sizes.

Though he was the youngest, he was not the dumbest. Most likely possessing an IQ of 150, he had the military mind of a Colin Powell, the political savvy of a nation’s President, the athletic skill of a Milkha Singh, and the musical ability of Beethoven all wrapped up into one.

We took a look at three giant statements about Yet, where did David spend most of his time? the little things. However, before we can take on bigger and tougher giants, our character, abilities, and talents are forged in the little things and most often in the private places. That’s because who we really are is forged in the private place not the public arena. So where are you today? Are you aspiring to be a great leader? To own your own company? To run your own business? To influence the lives of many? That’s a great dream and a noble ambition. By all means, hold on to it. But remember, it starts with the small things . . . the little things that don’t seem as important. I pastor a great church and have the joy and responsibility of teaching several thousand every weekend. But it hasn’t always been that way. My first 17 years of ministry were in churches all numbering less than 300. Now I have the opportunity of traveling and speaking to groups nationally and internationally several times a year. Once in a while someone will say something like, “I wish I could do what you do.” The question I am asking on the inside is, “Are you willing to do what I’ve done?”

PART THREE In last month’s issue of 5 Talents I wrote about the first step of effectively facing the giants in our life: Being Faithful in the Little Things. David didn’t start out fighting giants on the battlefield, he started out tending sheep on the hillside. David didn’t start out as a soldier fighting for Saul, he started out as a musician soothing Saul. The second step in facing giants effectively is . . . Initiate action!

Notice what David did not say. He didn’t say . . . “Let me think about it” “Let’s form a committee and discuss a plan of action.” By the way, what is a committee? It is a group of the unwilling, selected by the unfit, to do the unnecessary.”

The mission trip to Jagdalpur was initially planned for one day youth event, but it was God’s plan to be organized for three days. Two days youth conference and three days Gospel Outreach meeting in the evening. A team of six people went to Jagdalpur from Sharon Church, Hyderabad. Pastor Premasis Satman with his wife Deepakshi and their two years baby Arlene. Elizabeth Clayton - keyboardist and vocalist, Praveen the drum player and Esther & Karuna - choir and choreography. The three days were absolutely astounding and I am still amazed at the work of God and his goodness! We have felt the movement of Holy Spirit during the youth conference. About one hundred young people participated in the event. I focused on two topics, the first day “You are God’s masterpiece” and second day “Discover your talents for the Kingdom of God”. I encouraged the youth with my life transformation testimony. They were very excited to listen the word of God and about thirty five youth rededicated their life for the Kingdom. The youth were divided into several groups according to the similar talents and then each group had given time to represent on the topic. We were able to watch Christian song composed in tribal language and they danced in the tribal tune and music. We worshiped, danced and praised Jesus and met his goodness. 16

High school history teacher Grace Wesley (Melissa Joan Hart) comes under fire for answering a student’s (Hayley Orrantia) question about Jesus. When Grace refuses to apologize, the school board votes to suspend her and threatens to revoke her teaching certificate. Forced to stand trial to save her career, Grace hires young lawyer Tom Endler (Jesse Metcalfe) to defend her in court. Endler devises a powerful strategy to show the jury the historical significance of Wesley’s classroom discussion.

“A timely message” “I really enjoyed God’s Not Dead 2. I enjoyed the first “God’s Not Dead” film as well. The God’s Not Dead films are similar in that they deal with how God and the Bible are received in the modern academic environment. God’s Not Dead 1 dealt with the issue from the perspective of a Christian college student with a professor that is hostile to his faith. God’s Not Dead 2 deals with a Christian high school teacher that has to deal with an angry school administration. The acting in both films is good and the story lines are very insightful and creative. I’m very thankful that many different Christian films are making it to the theaters. Other Christian films like War Room, Mom’s Night Out and Risen have done well and have shown some diversity in styles of films that are being released in the Christian genre. I hope more films like them are released in the future to continue offering moviegoers more options for what they can see on the big screen. Irvinetustin from United States

“Wonderful movie for the entire family!” My family watched this movie and we all enjoyed it very much. We need to have more of these type of faith based films that are suited for the entire family to watch. If for some reason you do not like this movie, you best examine your heart! the cast for this film was perfect, Melissa was believable in her role and have you in tears for her. The courthouse set was beautiful. The directors did an excellent job selecting the scenes to pull it all together. The News Boys with their appearance in the film and their songs were spot on! the story line is relevant to what is going on in our society today. religious freedoms are in danger of becoming extinct. I would recommend this movie to anyone! Driggeb from United States “GND2 better than the first one” Love GND2 and in my opinion it is even better than the first one. Great acting from Jesse Metcalfe, also Melissa Joan Hart and Ernie Hudson did a fine job. Awesome job from the director Harold Cronk. The movie flows nicely and you’re in for an unexpected twist in the end. Those that scoff the movie, and say that things like this don’t happen in the US, don’t see the reality. It is true that teachers are not allowed to speak about Jesus in schools. Check the cases mentioned in the credits and you will see that it is very much reality. The only reason I’m not giving it full 5 stars is that the scenes with the protesters seemed little too over dramatized. It is an excellent movie and I would recommend it to anyone. Eventually Tyndale realized he would never be allowed to translate it while in England so in 1524 he moved to Germany.

William Tyndale translated the New Testament from the original Greek into English. The new translation was printed in 1526 and copies were smuggled into England. Catholics in England were alarmed. The bishop of London banned the new translation. In October 1526 he burned copies of the New Testament. However despite the bishop burning copies of the book it continued to circulate. In 1528 Tyndale published a book called “The Obedience of a Christian Man”. It was banned in England in 1530. That same year, he then began translating the Old Testament from Hebrew into English. In 1538 William Tyndale published a book called “The Parable of the Wicked Mammon”. It was banned in England in 1530. Meanwhile in England, Thomas and many others viciously protested against William’s works. Inspite of facing all harsh criticism and hateful words the English translation of the New Testament by Tyndale continued to be smuggled into England and it circulated widely.

William Tyndale was a great Christian of the 16th century. Little is known about his childhood. Tyndale was born about 1494 in Gloucestershire. He came from a family of landowners and wool merchants. Tyndale had two brothers. The family were well off and William was educated. In 1515 he was at Oxford University. Tyndale began studying theology. However he was appalled that studying the subject did not involve reading the Bible! At that time the Church greatly neglected the Bible. Many of the clergy were woefully ignorant of the Bible.
