i educated farm It’s a project from Tunghai University. The students need a farm to research the natural composts, I have to offer a place which can produce the compost and grow vegetables greatly, they also asked for a base to study and a forklift parking space. They used the kitchen leftovers of school, shell and sawdust as compost’s raw material, mixed them together. It would have a bad smell, but not so strongly that we had expected, that’s really interesting. The site is located at the corner of Tunghai University, run through by a ten meters wide long road, both sides are prairie. The end of the road is woodland, crossed the woodland, a river separating the school and the industrial area.

Roads in the site and around streets
The site located on a gentle slope, slowly down from west to east. On the east side, there is a steep slope and the residential beneath it; on the south side, is the river and industrial area. Trees were distributed along the river, apart the view of riverside. And we can see the long road insert the site clearly from aerial view.

The farm has the function of hoist parking, meeting room, office, dormitory, study room, kitchen, restroom, dining room and wareroom. It’s consort for long-term studies.
The water in the pool is used to irrigate, I used the square shape to coordinate the axis and the architect. This square pool creates a mysterious atmosphere, bring the peace and harmony for the end of axis. People can get close to water by the stairs on the sides.

Concept The long road creates an axis in the site, there are a lot of pipelines beneath it, so we can’t remove it easily. The best way is to obey the strong axis, not resist. According to the axis, I designed an architect in a U shape, where they used to study and rest. Behind it, the axis extends to the forest then disappearing in the square pool. To avoid the bad smell of ferment drifting, I set the compost area with the trees around it. At the final part of design, I used the woodland to separate or connect the different space, also create an entrance images and fulfill the demand of “site’s edge separating”. The farm owner seemed very afraid vegetable stolen, so I set a long wall by brick at the east edge. The hole farm looks natural and has a bucolic style, the great axis directs to the original forest and river showing the respect to the mother natural.

ii black water park All who enter now must fall past this dark, bound in the flow that slowly bleeds ahead, to where silence is king…… About ten minutes far away from the city, Black Water Park is nearby the A-Kun-Ten reservoir. With a beautiful small stream pass through the site, Black Water Park is defined as a park with the function of processing the water of reservoir leakage and contiguous waterworks. The park is beneath the long dam, on the dam, we can see the Mount Dagan at the other side.

While I was staring at the water surface and the inverted images of Dagan, I feel silent and peace. Under the sun light, the water rendering black, like a black hole, bottomless power in it, so I called it Black Water Park, where we experience the silent force

Site analysis Located at Kaoshiung A-Kun-Ten reservoir’s east side, this site is around by the water and mountains. Interior can divide in two, highlands and lowlands. The highlands fulfill by Cassia fistula and Acacia confusa, the lowlands is a flatland connecting with the nearby farmland. There are two streams pass through the site, one is from the reservoir leakage, the other one is a small ditch. They are crossed but not intersection, a part of ditch is coated by tube and cross over the ditch in the air. How to deal with it well would be an important problem.
Concept To present the silence of water, I control the velocity of flow as slow as I can. Lively streams were replaced by stairs and ponds, leaded people falling down to deep silence.

The drain’s shape was from the Richard Long’s work “River Po line”, a graceful line cross the turf, leading the people to a peaceful pond.
In order to create an epic axis to the forest behind, I cannel a little bit of water from the ditch, and let it slowly flow along the middle of stairs, with tall trees on both sides.
This small dam makes the streams become to a long little reservoir, it also plays a role of bridge and aqueduct, the water from ditch through its top. In the forest of the highland, trees shadow presents on the water surface, time seems stopped at here.
Inspired by the dark, this black hole absorbs the desire, let us return to whit, all of the hate, all of the sadness, let me forget......
iii history park The site is near the Taichung city center. Taichung government had planned to build a large building at here, but stopped by newly discovered historical remains. Therefore, it became to a history park area. I decide to create a performance space of historical relic. A place can show the relationship between modern and ancient, land and culture. People walk in to the park, then along the terrain, go down in history.

These relics are from Neolithic age, they are famous with jomon pottery. It make people have strong association with the dust. As the result, I hid the building under the ground, and gave it good natural lighting, it seems like people exercise in the dust. With the plants on roof, the building is into the environment perfectly
iv a lonely passage An interesting work about my mind, an imaging world under the ground or in mountains, A Lonely Passage is a reflection of my mood. During these three years in Tunghai Landscape Architecture, I had done a lot of crazy or stupid things, most of them make me suffer, feel pain. I fell in love with garden’s natural and peace, and I had paid a lot to pursue them. Sometimes I finally acquired a little achievement, but there is no one to share. My dream, a garden for desire and silence, a new life style for all human!...... It is hardly to believe after losing so much. Even so, I still roam in this pain transmigration. Desire and chaos forced me forward. I think I shall no peace until my dream comes true.
Concept I made a coiled road to represent my long pain travel, and covered it with a big box. There are some holes on the box to light inside. When the sun goes up and down, the road and trees show different scenery.
