The practice and employment of these techniques is governed by the Five Tenets: Courtesy, Integrity, Self-Control, Perseverance and Indomitable Spirit. The Youth Program will be taking 12 members ages 9-18 to Disneyland for a day! Our Attendance Challenge will run from January 2 - February 28. At the end of the attendance challenge we will draw 12 names to join our trip JOIN YP to Disneyland. The trip will be FOR OUR taking place on April 1. Before and After School Programs provide age-appropriate child care with quality programming, youth activities and events. Clubs, activities, and USDA approved meals and snacks are offered. Transportation to and from select schools is available. The program focuses on team building, cognitive growth, and development of social awareness and problem solving skills. The staff offers homework support to youth enrolled in the School Age Program.
Open Recreation Program (Ages 9-18)
This program provides recreational options for all dependents of active duty, retired military, DoD employees, and contractors living on base under a Tierra Vista lease
membership and be between 9-18 years of age. Community service programs, clubs, and classes are offered with focus on recreational activities, cognitive challenges, and team building. $30 per year
Transportation Program (Ages 9-18)
Youth Program members are eligible for transportation to and from select schools: Leland Elementary, Point Fermin Elementary, White Point Elementary, Dana Middle School, and Port of Los Angeles High School. Upon return, registered youth may enjoy our Open Recreation Program, or go directly home. $50 per week
Congressional Award Opportunities
The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive. The program is open to all 14 to 23 yearolds. Participants earn Bronze, Silver, & Gold Congressional Award Certificates & Bronze, Silver, & Gold Congressional Award Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas: Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration. Individuals taking care of someone else’s children in base quarters on a regular basis for more than 10 hours per week must be licensed. Residents of base housing who knowingly provide unlicensed child care are in danger of losing their base housing privileges. The care in FCC is provided in the home of individuals licensed under AFI 34-144 guidelines. These licensed child care providers must complete (at a minimum) 24 hours of orientation, be certified in CPR/First Aid, complete AF child care training modules, obtain liability insurance and have their home meet fire prevention, health and safety guidelines.
