20 Climb/Camp Joshua Tree
Joshua Tree! After learning the basics from expert instructors, climbers will challenge and push themselves to new heights on natural-rock routes of varying difficulties. The group will go on a mild ODR led hike to a scenic lookout (optional) and camp out under the stars in the most densely Joshua Tree grove in the entire park.

Trek Across America & California
All of February Trek Across America & California are self paced programs that allow individuals to be rewarded when the goal is achieved. The program is based on the honor system and is a year round program. There are worksheets located in a folder by the front desk at the El Segundo and Fort MacArthur Fitness Centers to keep track of your mileage. Prizes are given when you reach highlighted landmarks along the map. If you participate in the Trek across California, you can transfer your mileage to the USA Trek but prizes will start from Amarillo, Texas. Joshua Tree! After learning the basics from expert instructors, climbers will challenge and push themselves to new heights on natural-rock routes of varying difficulties. The group will go on a mild ODR led hike to a scenic lookout (optional) and camp out under the stars in the most densely Joshua Tree grove in the entire park. Equipment, meals at camp, and transportation from both Fort MacArthur and El Segundo are provided.

Youth Programs supports dependents of active duty military, retired military, active reservists, DoD personnel, and those living on base with a current contract with Tierra Vista. Youth Programs provides age appropriate activities, classes, trips, and events for youth ages 5-18 years. *Open Recreation Program may be closed due to field trip/ events. School Age Care (Ages 5-12) Before and After School Program provides age-appropriate child care with quality programming, youth activities and events. Clubs, Activities, and USDA approved meals and snacks are offered. Transportation to and from select schools is available. The program focuses on team building, cognitive growth, and development of social awareness and problem solving skills. The staff offers homework support to youth enrolled in the School Age Program. Open Recreation Program (Ages 9-18)
This program provides recreational options for all dependents of active duty, retired military, DoD employees, and contractors living on base under a Tierra Vista lease contract. Youth must have current membership and be between 9-18 years of age. Community service programs, clubs, and classes are offered with focus on recreational activities, cognitive challenges, and team building. $30 per year
Transportation Program (Ages 9-18)
Youth Program members are eligible for transportation to and from select schools: Leland Elementary, Point Fermin Elementary, White Point Elementary, Dana Middle School, and Port of Los Angeles High School. Upon return, registered youth may enjoy our Open Recreation Program, or go directly home. $50 per week *Note: Participation in the transportation program does not automatically register youth for after school activities. Youth must be enrolled in Open Recreation and other programming separately.

The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive. The program is open to all 14 to 23 year-olds. Participants earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold Congressional Award Certificates and Bronze, Silver, and Gold Congressional Award Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas: Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration. Guitar/Music Lessons (Ages: 9-18) Thursdays, February 1, 8, 15 & 22, 4 p.m.- 7 p.m. Are you interested in learning to play the guitar? Join us on Thursdays to learn the skills requires to perform and improvise on the guitar. Guitars provided during lesson, but students are encouraged to bring their own so they can practice at home. Infant to 12 Years of Age Before & After School Care Special Needs Weekend Availability
Individuals taking care of someone else’s children in base quarters on a regular basis for more than 10 hours per week must be licensed. Residents of base housing who knowingly provide unlicensed child care are in danger of losing their base housing privileges. The care in FCC is provided in the home of individuals licensed under AFI 34-276 guidelines. These licensed child care providers must complete (at a minimum) 24 hours of orientation, be certified in CPR/First Aid, complete AF child care training modules, obtain liability insurance and have their home meet fire prevention, health and safety guidelines.
