Fort MacArthur Inn is the lodging operation for Los Angeles AFB. It is located in the city of San Pedro, 20 miles south of LA AFB and offers 72 non-smoking units. Space-Available reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance, depending on the base occupancy and at the lodging managers’ discretion. Fulfill your Initial Counseling and Pre-separation briefing requirement at this mandatory briefing preferably 18 months before separating and 24 months prior to retiring, but mandated NLT 365 days before leaving the service.

LA AFB INTRO Program

Tuesday, March 1 | April 5 8 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Newcomers are briefed on some of the most important aspects that they will need for getting settled into Los Angeles AFB. Informational briefings from the A&FRC, Security Forces, the EFMP Coordinator and so many more will be provided. All spouses are welcome to attend. First Officer Duty Station

Thursday, March 10 | April 14 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Learn budgetary basics, saving tips, and how to survive in this high cost area. This is a mandatory class for all O1 & O2 who are new to Los Angeles AFB. All military and civilians may attend.

DOL Career and Credential Exploration Track (C2E)

March 9-10 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The Department of Labor delivers a 2 day workshop to assist transitioning service members, veterans and spouses define career goals, identify required credentials, find career and technical training opportunities and identify resources.

Transition Workshop

March 14-16 | April 11-13 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The three day format covers a broad range of topics from financial planning to job search to a VA benefits briefing. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend. This workshop is mandatory for all separating members, highly recommended for retiring military members.

DOL Employment Track (2 days)

March 23-24 | April 20-21 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. This new workshop is part of the Transition Program. It is a monthly workshop where Transitioning Service Members, Spouses, Retirees and Veterans can build a resume for a civilian or a federal job and learn interview techniques, salary negotiations and labor market information.

The EFMP program will be doing a writing contest starting April 1-15 for military children about “What it is like to be a Military Child”. A prize will be given to children Ages 5-8, 9-13, 13-17.

Trek Across America & California are self-paced programs that allow individuals to be rewarded when the goal is achieved. These year-round programs are based on an honor system. Prizes are awarded when you reach highlighted landmarks along the map. If you participate in the Trek across California, you can transfer your mileage to the USA Trek starting from Amarillo, Texas. The School Age Care Program

(Ages 5-12) Before and After School Program provides age-appropriate childcare with quality programming, youth activities, and events. Clubs, activities, and USDA approved meals and snacks are offered. Transportation to and from select schools is available. The program focuses on team-building, cognitive growth, and development of social awareness and problem-solving skills. The staff offers homework support. Youth & Teen Programs (Ages 9-18) This program provides recreational options for dependents of active duty, retired military, DoD employees, contractors, or residents living on base under a Tierra Vista lease contract. Youth must have current membership and be between 9-18 years of age. A current shot record is required to be provided when registering to include a current Flu vaccination. Community service programs, clubs, and classes are offered with focus on positive socialization, recreational activities, cognitive challenges, and team building skills. $30 PER MEMBERSHIP YEAR (AUGUST – JULY) Congressional Award Opportunities

The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive. The program is open to all 14 to 23-yearolds. Participants earn Bronze, Silver, & Gold Congressional Award Certificates & Bronze, Silver, & Gold Congressional Award Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas: Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration. If you are interested in becoming a tutor, contact Youth Programs for further information. Share your mathematics, science, culinary, artistic, or athletic abilities with the youth in our community. High school students may also apply. This is a great opportunity to get volunteer credits that are required for graduation.

Tuesday, March 8 & April 5 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Giving Girls confidence! SMART Girls is a small-group health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls. Permission slips are required to participate in classes.

Torch Club (Ages 9-12)

Tuesdays, 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Torch Clubs focus is on developing cognitive, leadership, socialization, and community awareness skills. Join us for a virtual learning experience to learn some new skills. Guitars are provided during lessons, but students are encouraged to bring their own so they can practice between classes while learning at home. Effective January 2021: Graduate tuition for Active Duty Military, Selected Reserve, and National Guard will be $380 for both classroom and online courses. Undergraduate for the same category will be $250 for both classroom and online classes.
