GOALS
SCHOOL LIAISON PROGRAM YOUR SCHOOL LIAISON
• Identify barriers to academic success and develop solutions
• Promote parental involvement, educate local communities and schools regarding the needs of military connected children
• Coordinate and develop educational partnerships
• Provide students, parents, and school personnel with the tools they need to overcome education barriers.
5 Reasons To Attend Your School’s Open House
By Ty Pittman
1. Meet the teacher, office staff and Administration
2. Learn about the curriculum
• Serves as the primary point of contact for school related matters
• Represents, informs, and assists Command
• Assists military families with educational issues
• Coordinates with local school systems
• Forges partnerships between the military, community & schools
School Liaisons are also an initial contact for participation in the Youth Sponsorship Program which builds resilience in youth and eases transition. School Liaison support is free of charge and open to all Department of Defense identification card holders, educators who serve military students and community partners involved with pre-K-12 education.
3. Meet other parents: We are so fortunate to live in an age where communication is at your fingertips literally. Perhaps you can create a study group for the students in your child's class, a rotating list of names for snack or even a birthday-of-the-month club.
4. Look for potential concerns: This is a time you can discover a way to support your child and the teacher, how to support the curriculum from home and the best way to communicate with the teacher.
5. Opportunities to support: it is so important that your student observes your participation. It gives him or her a sense of connection to school and begins to understand that school is a consistent, scheduled, and reliable place that can add value to their future.
Just know that every positive effort we put towards your children and their education may not be a guarantee into to an Ivy League school, but it provides an outward display of consistent care and dedication that our children deserve.
Parents and Guardians Thank You for supporting our students.
