SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICER Back to School Nights
Back to School Night is a way for parents and teachers to build a partnership that guarantees a child’s success. Parents, Teachers and Educators, please refer to the US Department of Education website, https://www.ed.gov/backtoschool for tips on how to make this school year successful. Fort MacArthur (Bldg. 410) (310) 653-8631 Tuesday: 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
An Article in The Washington Post recommend asking teachers 7 intriguing questions during “Back to School Night” that will enhance your children’s success: 1. In what ways will my child’s learning be connected to the real world? 2. How will my child be assessed? 3. To what extent will my child be setting their own goals? 4. How important is student engagement in this class/school? 5. What skills and mind-set should my child be developing in this class? 6. Parents, keep in mind that you should be supportive and helpful to school educators. Stay positive and recognize how hard the great majority of teachers work, how much they care about their students and how — all too often — they’re struggling to make financial ends meet.
Do you have questions about enrolling your child in school? The Los Angeles Air Force Base School Liaison Officer (SLO) is here to help you find the answers you need. The average military family moves 9 to 12 times throughout K-12 education. With each move, military children face many school-related challenges. The School Liaison Officer is your advocate. California schools are responsible for California State learning standards. Each school’s academic performance Index (API) and climate survey can be found at http://dq.cde.ca.gov/dataquest/
