DoD Education Track (2 days)

Transitioning Service Members, Spouses, Retirees and Veterans can learn about education resources available. This is a quarterly workshop part of the Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

Transition Workshop (3 days)

October 17-19 | November 14-16 • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The three day format covers a broad range of topics from financial planning to job search to a VA benefits briefing. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend. This workshop is mandatory for all separating members, highly recommended for retiring military members.

DOL Employment Track (2 days)

October 26-27 | November 29-30 • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This new workshop is part of the Transition Program. It is a monthly workshop where Transitioning Service Members, Spouses, Retirees and Veterans can build a resume for a civilian or a federal job and learn interview techniques, salary negotiations and labor market information.

The Military and Family Readiness Center Transition Assistance Program (TAP) hosts a quarterly Q & A session with Mr. Derrick Kerr. During this session Mr. Kerr will be answering questions you may have about the DoD SkillBridge Program.

EFMP Family Support plays a critical role in helping families with special needs with the Identification & Enrollment and Assignment Coordination processes.

For volunteers who have been appointed by the unit commander to be the family and supportive liaison between the service member dependents and Commanders. Must have an appointment letter provided by Commander. Training discusses roles, resources, OPSEC, Privacy Act, and duties of what it is to be a key spouse. 30 Minutes, Moderate-to-High Intensity

Looking for a workout to help get you through the holidays? Walk at a moderate-to-high (6-7 out of 10) pace for 3 minutes, followed by gentle strolling for 3 minutes. Repeat 5 times, for a total of 30 minutes. Do this at least four times a week. This will be posted in front of the fitness center all November.

Yoga Strength

This strength-based class is suitable for all yogis! Holding active poses for longer periods of time and incorporating core movements throughout. You’ll use muscles you never knew you had and leave this class feeling long, strong and grounded!

VIPR

Vitality, Performance, Resilience! Meet your goals head on and fully amped in body and mind! The enhancing benefits of the ViPR equipment-based class are combined in this dynamic full-body strength and endurance workout! We’ll use dumbbells, body bars, bosu balls and body weight and of course the ViPR to take your fitness limits to the next level!

Zumba

This total-body workout combines the elements of cardio, body awareness, muscle conditioning and flexibility. Spend your hour shakin’ your hips, movin’ your feet and sweating out your frustrations in this high- energy, totally FUN cardio workout! Tum up the beat!

Cycle 30/30

Double the trouble, double the fun. This intense half-and-half work out will really get your heart pumping. We are off to the races with 30-minuets of cardio riding formulated to increase your endurance, power and speed, Then hitting the floor with 30 mins of muscle and weight action.

Trek Across America & California

Trek Across America & California are self-paced programs that allow individuals to be rewarded when the goal is achieved. These year-round programs are based on an honor system. Worksheets are located in a folder by the front desk at the El Segundo and Fort MacArthur Fitness Centers to keep track of your mileage. Prizes are awarded when you reach highlighted landmarks along the map. If you participate in the Trek across California, you can transfer your mileage to the USA Trek starting from Amarillo, Texas. Modes of travel can be achieved through the following exercises: Treadmill, Bike, Stepper, Cross Trainer, Rower & Run/Walk.

School Age Care Program

(Ages 5-12)

Before and after school program provides age-appropriate childcare with quality programming, youth activities, and events. Clubs, activities and USDA approved meals and snacks are offered. Transportation to and from select schools is available. The program focuses on team-building, cognitive growth, and development of social awareness and problem-solving skills. Youth & Teen Program

(Ages 9-18)

Provides recreational options for dependents of active duty, retired military, DoD employees, contractors, or residents living on base under a Tierra Vista lease contract. Youth must have current membership and be between 9-18 years of age. A current shot record is required to be provided when registering to include a current Flu vaccination. Community service programs, clubs, and classes are offered with focus on positive socialization, recreational activities, cognitive challenges, and team building skills.

Air Force families, help the Torch and Keystone clubs serve our community by donating unopened food and/or toys at the Youth Center during the month of November.

The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive. The program is open to all 14 to 23-year-olds. Participants earn Bronze, Silver, & Gold Congressional Award Certificates & Bronze, Silver, & Gold Congressional Award Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas: Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration. Coding Club (Ages 9-18)

Mondays, 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Learn new skills or practice what you already know. Work in Python, Flowlab, Scratch, Khan Academy, or practice another platform of your choice.

Guitar/Drums/Piano/Music Lessons (FREE LESSONS) (Ages 9-18 younger youth may be accepted) Are you interested in learning to play the guitar, & drums? A 14-session program that focuses on specific aspects of manhood through interactive activities. Open to boys ages 9 to 18 who are Youth Programs members.

The National Arts Contest recognizes Club members for their artistic accomplishments. Work that you submit will be judged by professional artists, with selected artwork recognized at local, regional and national levels. Submit your artwork in fine arts categories such as watercolor, mixed media, colored pencil, or photography. Starting in November, Youth Center members can participate in art sessions specifically focused on these categories.
