Fulfill your Initial Counseling and Pre-separation briefing requirement at this mandatory briefing preferably 18 months before separating and 24 months prior to retiring, but mandated NLT 365 days before leaving the service.

Newcomers are briefed on some of the most important aspects that they will need for getting settled into Los Angeles AFB. Informational briefings from the M&FRC, Security Forces, the EFMP Coordinator and so many more will be provided. DoD Education Track (2 days)

November 9-10 • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Transitioning Service Members, Spouses, Retirees and Veterans can learn about education resources available. This is a quarterly workshop part of the Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

Transition Workshop (3 days)

October 17-19 | November 14-16 • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The three day format covers a broad range of topics from financial planning to job search to a VA benefits briefing. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend. This workshop is mandatory for all separating members, highly recommended for retiring military members.

DOL Employment Track (2 days)

October 26-27 | November 29-30 • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This new workshop is part of the Transition Program. It is a monthly workshop where Transitioning Service Members, Spouses, Retirees and Veterans can build a resume for a civilian or a federal job and learn interview techniques, salary negotiations and labor market information.

Trek Across America & California are self-paced programs that allow individuals to be rewarded when the goal is achieved. These year-round programs are based on an honor system. Worksheets are located in a folder by the front desk at the El Segundo and Fort MacArthur Fitness Centers to keep track of your mileage. Prizes are awarded when you reach highlighted landmarks along the map. If you participate in the Trek across California, you can transfer your mileage to the USA Trek starting from Amarillo, Texas. Modes of travel can be achieved through the following exercises: Treadmill, Bike, Stepper, Cross Trainer, Rower & Run/Walk.

Smart Girls (Ages 9-18)

Wednesdays, 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Giving Girls confidence! SMART Girls is a small-group health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls. Permission slips are required to participate in classes.

Passport to Manhood (Ages 9-18)

Wednesdays, 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.

A 14-session program that focuses on specific aspects of manhood through interactive activities. Open to boys ages 9 to 18 who are Youth Programs members.

Torch Club (Ages 9-12)

Thursdays, 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Torch Clubs focus is on developing cognitive, leadership, socialization, and community awareness skills. Our foundation is based on teamwork and how to become a better team by improving our outlook. Join us weekly to become a part of this dynamic team. Your input is important to us.

Fine Arts Program (Ages 9-18)

Explore your inner creativity and learn new skills.

Health & Wellness (Ages 9-18)

Experience cooking, gardening, and discussions on various approaches to being emotionally and physically healthy.

The STEAM room is open five days a week! Join staff for directed and other cool STEM projects, or just stop by for some solo time on a computer, using 3D pens, building robots, flying drones, and much more.

The National Arts Contest recognizes Club members for their artistic accomplishments. Work that you submit will be judged by professional artists, with selected artwork recognized at local, regional and national levels. Submit your artwork in fine arts categories such as watercolor, mixed media, colored pencil, or photography. Starting in November, Youth Center members can participate in art sessions specifically focused on these categories.
