@ FCC LAAFB

Interested in Becoming a Family Child Care Provider? COVID-19 has shut down much of our country. Most of us are working from home while schools and daycares are closed. This pandemic is disheartening on many levels, but have you secretly enjoyed all the time you are able to spend with your children? Reading in blanket forts, rediscovering how cool Legos are, cooking together? Seriously how cute was your little one doing push-ups with you this morning? How about that connection you made with your older child when you involved them in one of your favorite hobbies? Right now, is a great time to start the process of becoming a Family Child Care Provider. Get a head start now so when things return to normal, you’ll be ready for a new normal!

Family CHILD CARE Are you in need of a Child Care Provider? FCC Homes are now open at Fort MacArthur! It’s a great time to conduct phone interviews with one of our licensed providers. SUPER Prepared: Kids Disaster Kit If you have children, it’s smart to have them put together their own “Kid’s Disaster Kit”. It can be fun for the child and it’s mainly recommended so they will have things to do and share with other kids and reduce anxiety during the disaster. These can all be stored in a backpack or duffel bag. Just make sure you or the child can carry it easily if evacuation is needed. Some suggested items for your child’s disaster kit: • A few of their favorite books • Crayons, pencils, or marking pens and plenty of paper • Two favorite toys such as a doll or action figure • One or two board games • A deck of cards • A puzzle (one with lots of pieces is good – it takes a long time to do!) • Small people figures and play vehicles that they can use to play out what is happening • Favorite blanket or pillow • Pictures of the family and pets 28
