Are you separating or retiring from military service?

Fulfill your Initial Counseling and Pre-separation briefing requirement at this mandatory briefing preferably 18 months before separating and 24 months prior to retiring, but mandated NLT 365 days before leaving the service.

Learn budgetary basics, saving tips, and how to survive in this high cost area. This is a mandatory class for all O1 & O2 who are new to Los Angeles AFB. All military and civilians may attend

FALL into the Holidays 30 minute Workout

30 Minutes, Moderate-to-High Intensity

Looking for a workout to help get you through the holidays?

Walk at a moderate-to-high (6-7 out of 10) pace for 3 minutes, followed by gentle strolling for 3 minutes. Repeat 5 times, for a total of 30 minutes. Do this at least four times a week. This will be posted in front of the fitness center all November.

10-20-30 Count Down to the New Year

15 Minutes, Low-Moderate-High Intensity Run, walk, bike or row for 30 seconds, increase to moderate pace for 20 seconds, then hard as you can for 10 seconds. Rest for 2 minutes. Repeat this 5 times. Do this 3-4 times per week. This will be posted in front of the Fitness center all December.

In honor of the USSF Inaugural 10-miler taking place in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL on 10 December, we will be having a 10-miler 5k Run/ Walk challenge that will take place all week. The goal is to run/ walk 10 miles in a week. You can either do it alone or with a partner. There will be a QR code that will be posted at the front of the fitness center to help keep track of your mileage. There will be prizes for all who complete the 10 miles!

Trek Across America & California

Trek Across America & California are self-paced programs that allow individuals to be rewarded when the goal is achieved. These year-round programs are based on an honor system. Worksheets are located in a folder by the front desk at the El Segundo and Fort MacArthur Fitness Centers to keep track of your mileage. Prizes are awarded when you reach highlighted landmarks along the map. If you participate in the Trek across California, you can transfer your mileage to the USA Trek starting from Amarillo, Texas. Modes of travel can be achieved through the following exercises: Treadmill, Bike, Stepper, Cross Trainer, Rower & Run/Walk.

Before and after school program provides age-appropriate childcare with quality programming, youth activities, and events. Clubs, activities and USDA approved meals and snacks are offered. Transportation to and from select schools is available. The program focuses on team-building, cognitive growth, and development of social awareness and problem-solving skills. Youth & Teen Program

(Ages 9-18)

Provides recreational options for dependents of active duty, retired military, DoD employees, contractors, or residents living on base under a Tierra Vista lease contract. Youth must have current membership and be between 9-18 years of age. A current shot record is required to be provided when registering to include a current Flu vaccination. Community service programs, clubs, and classes are offered with focus on positive socialization, recreational activities, cognitive challenges, and team building skills.

You can operate your own home-based business, set your own hours, be with your children and care for other children at home. The FCC staff will train and help you provide safe and nurturing in-home care for children 2 weeks to 12 years in your home. You must be 18 years of age or older, able to speak English, in good mental and physical health and willing to undergo a comprehensive background check. School Liaisons are also an initial contact for participation in the Youth Sponsorship Program which builds resilience in youth and eases transition. School Liaison support is free of charge and open to all Department of Defense identification card holders, educators who serve military students and community partners involved with pre-K-12 education.
