The training is also for Key Spouses who have become a Key Spouse Mentor.

Tuesday, November 7 | December 5 • 8 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Bldg. 272, Room C2-205 Newcomers are briefed on the exciting world of the Air Force, Space Force and the cutting-edge technology of SSC. Newcomers will be provided with informational and mandatory briefings in an interactive way!

DoD Education Track (2 days) November 7 - 8 | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Transitioning Service Members, Spouses, Retirees and Veterans can learn about education resources available. This is a quarterly workshop part of the Transition Assistance Program (TAP). First Officer Duty Station

Thursday, November 9 | December 14 • 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Learn budgetary basics, saving tips, and how to survive in this high cost area. This is a mandatory class for all O1 & O2 who are new to Los Angeles AFB. All military and civilians may attend.

Fulfill your Initial Counseling and Pre-separation briefing requirement at this mandatory briefing preferably 18 months before separating and 24 months prior to retiring, but mandated NLT 365 days before leaving the service. Thursday, November 16 • 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Get good advice on planning your next PCS from the clinic, traffic management and finance.

Transition Workshop (3 days) November 14 - 16 | December 11 - 13 • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The three day format covers a broad range of topics from financial planning to job search to a VA benefits briefing. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend. This workshop is mandatory for all separating members, highly recommended for retiring military members. DOL Employment Track (2 days)

November 21 - 22 | December 19 - 20 • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. This new workshop is part of the Transition Program. It is a monthly workshop where Transitioning Service Members, Spouses, Retirees and Veterans can build a resume for a civilian or a federal job and learn interview techniques, salary negotiations and labor market information.

1000 lbs. & 500 lbs. Club Purpose: The purpose of the 1000 lbs. and 500 lbs. clubs is to acknowledge the physical achievement and dedication to training of Los Angeles Air Force Base Personnel. Overview: To become a "member" of the club, one must perform one repetition of a Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift. After all 3 lifts are successfully completed, the total weight lifted is added up. To be a member of the 500 lb. club (women only), the total weight lifted must 500 lbs or greater. To be a member of the 1000 lb. club (open), the total weight lifted must be 1000 lbs or greater. All lifts must occur on the same day within a 60 minute time period under the guidance of the fitness center staff. Rankings will be developed by total pound for pound strength (total weight lifted/total body weight). How to participate: Set-up an appointment with our staff at either El Segundo or Ft. MacArthur who will act as judges and spotters for your lifts. This challenge is ongoing and can be completed anytime during the year and you may re-test at any time as well.

Count Down to the New Year!

15 Minutes, Low-Moderate-High Intensity Challenge During the month of December, take part in a 15-minute, low-moderate-high intensity challenge as we count down to 2024! Run, walk, bike or row for 30 seconds, increase to moderate pace for 20 seconds, then hard as you can for 10 seconds. Rest for 2 minutes. Repeat this 5 times. Do this 3-4 times per week. YOUR SCHOOL LIAISON • Serves as the primary point of contact for school related matters

• Identify barriers to academic success and develop solutions

• Represents, informs, and assists Command

• Promote parental involvement, educate local communities and schools regarding the needs of military connected children

• Assists military families with educational issues • Coordinates with local school systems

• Coordinate and develop educational partnerships

• Forges partnerships between the military, community & schools

• Provide students, parents, and school personnel with the tools they need to overcome education barriers.

School Liaisons are also an initial contact for participation in the Youth Sponsorship Program which builds resilience in youth and eases transition. School Liaison support is f ree of charge and open to all Department of Defense identification card holders, educators who serve military students and community partners involved with pre-K-12 education.
