In honor of the USSF Inaugural 10-miler taking place in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL on December 10, we will be having a 10-miler 5k Run/ Walk challenge that will take place all week. The goal is to run/walk 10 miles in a week.

Initial & Pre-Separation Counseling Monday, December 5 & 19 | Tuesday, January 3 & 17 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Are you separating or retiring from military service? Fulfill your Initial Counseling and Pre-separation briefing requirement at this mandatory briefing preferably 18 months before separating and 24 months prior to retiring, but mandated NLT 365 days before leaving the service.

December 12-14 | January 9-11 • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The three day format covers a broad range of topics from financial planning to job search to a VA benefits briefing. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend. This workshop is mandatory for all separating members, highly recommended for retiring military members.

DOL Employment Track (2 days)

December 20-21 | January 17-18 • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This new workshop is part of the Transition Program. It is a monthly workshop where Transitioning Service Members, Spouses, Retirees and Veterans can build a resume for a civilian or a federal job and learn interview techniques, salary negotiations and labor market information.

Marriage Financial Workshop

December 16 | 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Marriage introduces the couple to many new changes including financial adjustments. This workshop may assist a newly married airman and their spouse to organize their finances efficiently and work through many of the other changes that comes with their new status.

DOL Career and Credential Exploration Track (C2E)

December 27-28 | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The Department of Labor delivers a 2 day workshop to assist transitioning service members, veterans and spouses define career goals, identify required credentials, find career and technical training opportunities and identify resources.

December 7-8 • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The small business administration delivers a very informative 2 day seminar focusing on creating your business plan.

Wednesday, December 14 • 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.

10-20-30 Count Down to the New Year

15 Minutes, Low-Moderate-High Intensity Run, walk, bike or row for 30 seconds, increase to moderate pace for 20 seconds, then hard as you can for 10 seconds. Rest for 2 minutes. Repeat this 5 times. Do this 3-4 times per week.

12 Minutes High Intensity Workout

Before each meal, walk as hard as you can for one minute, following by gentle strolling for one minute. Repeat 6 times. You can substitute some upper-body weightlifting for a couple of the walking sessions. Repeat 4-6 times per week.

Trek Across America & California

Trek Across America & California are self-paced programs that allow individuals to be rewarded when the goal is achieved. These year-round programs are based on an honor system. Worksheets are located in a folder by the front desk at the El Segundo and Fort MacArthur Fitness Centers to keep track of your mileage. Prizes are awarded when you reach highlighted landmarks along the map. If you participate in the Trek across California, you can transfer your mileage to the USA Trek starting from Amarillo, Texas. Modes of travel can be achieved through the following exercises: Treadmill, Bike, Stepper, Cross Trainer, Rower & Run/Walk.

(Ages 9-18)

Provides recreational options for dependents of active duty, retired military, DoD employees, contractors, or residents living on base under a Tierra Vista lease contract. Youth must have current membership and be between 9-18 years of age. A current shot record is required to be provided when registering to include a current Flu vaccination. Community service programs, clubs, and classes are offered with focus on positive socialization, recreational activities, cognitive challenges, and team building skills.

School Liaisons are also an initial contact for participation in the Youth Sponsorship Program which builds resilience in youth and eases transition.
