外婆是福建省惠安縣人，生於民國二十六年七月一日，她的父親連耀軒畢業 於黃埔軍校第五期，為職業軍人，母翁氏任教職治家頗嚴，外婆九歲時，在 路途中因水土不服而去世。民國三十六年秋，廈門即將淪陷，全家隨父搭機 來台定居台北，弟文龍秉承父業，任職國防部，現已退休，夫汪光鎏任職於 統國企業公司，長女佩璇是我的母親，現任教於光榮國中老師、次女佩玲任 職於復興商工，三女佩琪為幼稚園老師，四女佩瑤為中華航空空勤人員。
外婆承母訓於廈門雅化小學及台北強恕中學相繼畢業後即考入台北女子師範 學校，四十四年畢業後，在東園國小任教，翌年轉調螢橋國小繼續服務，因 感學之不足復於五十四年入女師專夜間部進修，五十七年畢業，之後繼續任 教於螢橋國小，直到退休，仍秉持著活到老學到老的生活態度，不斷的學習、 充實自我，是讓我既崇拜又尊敬的長輩。
