Our Ref: 01/2014 6 Jan 2014 Dear Parents /Guardians of P2 – P6 students Happy New Year Greetings to all. 1. 2013 PSLE Results We had 98% of our students eligible for Sec Schools and 77% of the students taking 4 Standard Subjects were channelled to the Express Course in Sec Schools. In working towards building a Community of Aspiring and Gracious Learners, we focus on working with students in shaping attitudes and behaviours such that students over time begin to take personal responsibility and interest in learning. Students who had spent hours taking part in school tournaments while preparing for PSLE attained good results as well. This affirms that when students are intensely motivated and are channeling their energies on the right things, they will strive to excel. Most importantly, the teachers and home support from parents too played a critical part in students doing well. 2.

(17 Jan 2014) – Students of Primary 6 to report in school uniform for photo shoot session in preparation for the EZ Link Card. Please arrange for your child to have a haircut if the hair is too long or untidy. For girls keeping long hair, please note that the hair should be neatly tied up. We seek your assistance in ensuring that your child comes to school in school uniform on 17 Jan. Students having Physical Education lessons on that day will not be required to bring along their PE attire. 3. Reminder on Road Safety There is heavy traffic during the start and end of school sessions. As children are vulnerable road users, it is important that we keep our school zone safe. The safety of school zones requires the cooperation of authorities such as schools, parents, motorists and the community. It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that children are safe when using the roads near their schools. Please set the right example for your child to cross the road safely. Our pupils are taught to put their hand up to signal to motorists and drivers that it is their right of way when using pedestrian crossings. Show your child the potential safety hazards when crossing the road. If you drive your children to school, drop them off at safe and proper drop off points. This ensures not only your own child’s safety but also that of other road users. The attached leaflet is for your info on the demerit points for errant drivers along the school safe zones. Safety Rules on AGPS school grounds The school’s main gate will remain open from 6.45 am – 7.30 am. Once the main gate barrier comes into action at 7.30 am, children will alight along the pedestrian walkway along Anchorvale Drive. For the safety of your child, please alight her/him safely in the left hand lane along the kerb and do not stop in front of the main gate or in the right hand lane. Dropping off children along the bus bay on wet days If you drive into the bus bay, please drop off your child and exit immediately so as to ensure smooth traffic. The school grounds and its driveways will not be accessible to all parents’ cars from 7.30 am to 2.00 pm from Mondays to Fridays. Only parents who have official meeting with school personnel will be allowed to enter during those hours. email : anchorgreen_ps@moe.edu.sg School Website : http://www.anchorgreenpri.moe.edu.sg

Absence from school Please inform your child’s Form Teacher if your child is away from school via email or a call to the General Office at 68861356.
