Carers - Are You Interested in a Regular Carers Meeting? Thursday the 15th of November, 2.00 PM in The Carnon Downs Garden Centre Cafe’ Quenchwell Road, TR3 6LN. There was a very useful and popular Carers Group that used to meet monthly at the home of the Carers Officer for our Branch. These meetings were an opportunity for anyone becoming a Carer to learn and It was an excellent time to share ideas and make Friends. With Carers who had many years of Caring for a Partner or someone with MS. A couple of Carers who recently met by chance and who were regulars of the Carers meetings. They remember the good times and suggested why not meet again. I agree and one those Carers was Malcolm Thorne who was Branch Treasurer prior to Hilary our Finance Volunteer. Malcolm has proposed that we meet at The Carnon Downs Garden Centre Cafe’ on the third Thursday, of every other month for a “cuppa and a chat”. Please call Malcolm on 01209 717237 or Mike on 07512 929499 for any further details. Alternatively email : southandwestcornwall@mssociety.org.uk

Just come along and we will be delighted to see you!

Visit, Tour and Lunch to St Austell Brewery 10th October Ten Members met at the Visitor Centre at St Austell Brewery for 11.00 AM on Wednesday 10th October. We were enthralled by a guided tour which detailed the history of the brewery, founded in 1851 by Walter Hicks to the present day. There was a very interesting insight into the brewing process with what ingredients and where sourced, to make the different ale's beers and lagers. There were some samples and also two tokens to redeem at The Hick's Bar (part of The Visitor Centre) for a drink of our choice! With the lunch ready to be served after the tour together with a "couple of pint's (or whatever one wished to "indulge with") the whole time spent was really interesting and worthwhile. As the event was planned to be a Carers day out we were so glad that some Carers involved their MS affected Partners who were able to take part in most of the tour. This was made most possible due to the investment made by St Austell Brewery in the accessibility throughout The Visitor Centre. Really big changes since our last visit in 2015. A big Thank You to all the Staff, our Tour Guide Tracey and those who made this a super day for us!
