Mass Production and Uniqueness
The typology of the product is a “side table”. The shape came from natural form, using hard material – metal, to create a laser cut with simple and symmetry patterns on the metal tube, it can be bend or extrude easily. Under the controlled processed, each pieces will still have slightly different structure. Thought it is a mass production, we aim to bring some uniqueness to this furniture. Combining high tech and even patterns, the end product can be diversity and have very natural aesthetic feeling inside. In addition, with different angle of light, the effect of shadow will have complex performance.

The inspiration for the furniture came from the painting, Venus at her Mirror by Velazquez Diego in 1647-51. The painting is considered ironic because it shows Venus lying nude but facing away from the viewer. At the same time the viewer is able to get a clear view of her face in the mirror she is looking at. woman is shown lying down on

It is only the cloth cover without the furniture, which is being covered. The cloth is also seeing through which creates the illusion that the cloth is suspended in space or that the furniture it is covering is invisible. The surface of the furniture looks soft because of the form but is made from a hardened fabric.
