SHOULDER -toSHOULDER FOUNDATION
An International Partnership Approach to Global Citizenship Education and Ethical Leadership Programming
The Shoulder-to-Shoulder Foundation is a one-of-kind partnership model, providing schools authentic resources and programming in global citizenship education and ethical leadership development.
SHOULDER -toSHOULDER FOUNDATION
COLLABORATION CREATES ... The Shoulder-to-Shoulder Foundation unites schools, NGOs, businesses, and philanthropists in a shared-value partnership in service of social responsibility. The result for school leaders is a cost-effective, authentic pool of resources from which to develop and nourish global citizenship education within the programming and ethos of their schools. School leaders have been called upon to address the pressing needs of our planet by educating the next generation as citizens of the world: A lofty goal without the resources to execute it. The Shoulder-to-Shoulder Foundation organizes and inspires collaboration across sectors to create these resources and make them available for progressive school leaders.
... AUTHENTIC RESOURCES Full immersion field studies in ethical leadership, led by trusted NGO leaders and teachers from member schools, trained by the Foundation’s staff. A network of dedicated professionals sharing programming and resources related to global citizenship education. Numerous professional development opportunities for teachers, including an annual international forum. Our constantly evolving Five Lens Curriculum examines pressing global challenges through politics, economics, culture, geography, and ethics. Capstone project (online) led by expert educators for students to apply the design thinking process and ethical leadership principles to their own communities. Annual K-12 global event on each school campus with NGO experts as keynote speakers.

THE BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION IN STUDENTS SHOULDER-TO-SHOULDER TO THE STUDENTS WHO ENROLL IN COURSES ARE OBVIOUS. THEY EMERGE MORE RESILIENT, MORE EMPATHETIC, MORE UNDERSTANDING OF OUR COMMON HUMANITY. WHAT MAY BE LESS OBVIOUS IS THE IMPACT SSTS IS HAVING ON OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY OVERALL. THE MEMBERS OF OUR FACULTY WHO HAVE BEEN THOROUGHLY TRAINED AS COURSE INSTRUCTORS HAVE BECOME SEEDS OF POSITIVE CHANGE WITHIN THEIR DIVISIONS AND DEPARTMENTS AND WITHIN THE GENERAL FACULTY.
