AN UGO BLAST
OF REFRESHMENT... Brickell Flatiron is a brand-new development poised to hit Miami's skyline with a little of Ugo Colombo’s style and lot of Luis Revuelta's design.
U
go Colombo hardly needs an introduction.
When our favorite Milan-born developer makes an entrance in Miami, it is an entrance indeed. Colombo’s contributions to the local skyline have been nothing short of definitive and now, he and the CMC group are gearing up to deliver something that is yet again, groundbreaking. “We are planning a soaring tower of glass that is both luxurious and artistically inclined,” enticed
Colombo. Brickell Flatiron epitomizes Miami’s love of crisp plans and spaciousness with its all-glass design and lofty spaces. It also sets itself at the center of Mary Brickell Village and as a formidable competitor to the Residences at Brickell City Centre. “I love competition, as it raises the stakes, and most importantly, the par for all courses,” said Colombo with an eye for offering a whole lot of competition in this part of town.

ARK AND
SOUL
Miami has always been a destination, with people coming and going from all over the world. But right now, it seems people are, “coming and they are staying,” said Jacob Abramson, Director of Operations at Miami Golden. And while everyone else is fixated on condos, his focus is on very special modern family homes. He recently completed a stunning six-bedroom property on Golden Beach, dubbed The Ark. With interiors designed by Chad Oppenheim, the three-level house comes with an array of water features - lap-pool and hot tub, an “infinity edge pond” – oh, and a cool elevator for when that jog on the beach takes its toll. But the wow-factor is a 20-foot atrium – all pointy glass and metal latticework that struts its stuff like some postmodern iceberg.
Miami Golden has carefully crafted a stunning family home that pushes the envelope of modern design.
Modern design can feel harsh, but this one is not just a knockout, it also manages to be welcoming and cozy. “I think with such an ambitious architectural signature as this,” said Abramson, “we have managed to make it attainable to find comfort in such a space. That is the ultimate challenge in building these kinds of homes.”

The idea is that whether you are in the home or outside in the landscape, you are in one space. “What’s special about this place is the huge role that glass plays. Unique designer touches include imported marble flooring, an Italian custom kitchen, smart house technology, plus a home theater and space for a yoga room or art gallery. The outside features a lush tropical garden designed by Andres Arcila, a lap pool, cabana, hot tub, outdoor dining, and a babbling pond. All very Zen. “Water is such a major component of Miami. So, I always wanted there to be exposure to water in some sense.”

They have developed the lights so that as the sun does its thing at day’s end, the lighting design creates a natural transition into evening. “It’s like living in the sky – a place defined by light, reflections, and open space.” Plus, it is so exciting to be in a town where there is beautiful and interesting architecture happening.

CALIFORNIA CLOSETS
This reach-in closet is the epitome of understated organization. Shown here in a master bedroom, the subtle, set back design offers ample storage with little interference in room aesthetic. Its shaker style cabinetry, crafted in Italian melamine, is showcased beautifully in a soft, Mocha Latte finish. Only to be emphasized by the subtle accent of a delicate leaf resin insert, creating just the right amount of feminine flair and appeal. Employing an array of shelving and storage solutions, this closet is a true complement to the space.
72
9fi5th.com
Another reach-in option, this beautiful system is fit for a shared master bedroom. Its rich, walnut finish emits a more masculine draw. Exceptional hardware and accessories speak to the quality and craftsmanship within the design. Sleek and structured elements keep the focus on organization and function, making every last inch usable while the alluring cabinetry won’t have you rushing to close its doors.
But what about those smaller spaces in your home? You know, the ones you pay very little attention to and those that typically need the most TLC. A functional laundry room can make or break your daily routine and this smaller wardrobe is the perfect way to streamline tasks. Sorting areas, sliding surfaces, and drop-down tables are some of the few options a set like this can offer. Not to mention a simple white finish so beautiful you won’t even have to hide it away.
Now, this is what closet dreams are made of ! This walk-in beauty embodies comfort, luxury, and pretty much anything else you could want from a wardrobe. Another unit with shaker style cabinetry in a mocha latte finish, this armoire leaves ample room for even the biggest of fashion collectors. It not only adds to the room aesthetic but also defines the energy of the space. Being able to survey your space at a mere glance coupled with the pure beauty of a truly custom closet has never been so accessible!

INTERIOR DESIGN AT AN ANGLE Michael Beamish explains what it means to be an interior designer in the Fort Lauderdale market today. Sometimes even the dog toys have to be the right color.

have a dog,” Michael Beamish confided with a coy chuckle. “I’ve changed the dog bed several
times.” Creating a pet-friendly environment that doesn’t become a point of contention in the design of a home is a challenge Beamish is familiar with. He continued, “Even the colors of the dog toys are important.” All this fuss simply serves to illustrate his attention to detail, and that is what you can expect from the experienced professional who heads Michael Beamish Design Group.

Building on a deep and wide seat, the chair is neatly brought together by dark rubbed bronze arms and legs. The curvy lines and textured metal show off subtle details in an energetic but soft design. rOcHe bObOis: airceLL cHair bY sacHa Lakic Ready to take over the world? Well take a seat and learn from genius Sacha Lakic in his latest design for Roche Bobois. Pulling the best from each corner of his design portfolio, the AIRCELL armchair carries the essence of a slick getaway vehicle and an all-powerful secret layer. Featuring a Cabaret velvet quilted interior and a smooth jersey outer shell, this chair means business in all the right ways. Similar to the curved shapes of his previous furniture designs, the AIRCELL’s rounded and slightly elongated back starts by taking the shape of an egg and expands out into the perfect platform on which to sit down. Providing the right amount of texture and just enough support from its high-density foam back, it’s a sporty and comfortable combination. Get your evil laugh ready. Lights! Camera! Action! Armani/Casa keeps the vision strong with their latest Truffaut director’s chair. Although this modern take on a classic design is not foldable, you won’t want to go anywhere after you rest up on the soft leather seat and back. Boasting a brushed brown oak solid wood structure, the Truffaut chair brings a New Wave of class and style to the frame. With slightly petaled leather armrests, you can sit back with your hand on your chin and let the creative juices flow - either at your desk or on set. Truffaut comes in red, black, or grey and though it may be French at heart, is made in Italy. Even if François Truffaut was famous for writing tough reviews, we have nothing but wonderful things to say about this delightful chair. We even promise that you’ll like its performance on the very first take.

Shake your tail feathers and be the center of attention in Italian furniture brand Cappellini’s Peacock chair. Designed by Dror Bershetrit, this striking armchair is more than just a balance between design and art. Mimicking the shape and pattern of - yes, you guessed it - the male peacock’s beautifully fanned out feathers, Bershetrit allows this chair to take life through its intricately designed framework. With no sewing or upholstery involved, the Peacock chair uses tight folds of felt to create a structured back and seat that not only look incredibly luxurious, but are comfortable too. By experimenting with movements of materials, Bershetrit’s innovative design uses layers of felt that are folded and clipped into place on a minimal metal frame that is varnished in dark brown. The Peacock chair comes in mono-color green or blue, as well as a dual-color

Well dear reader, you’re in luck, because we have discovered the perfect three-step remedy to have you feeling great from the inside out. Follow us through our Spring/ Summer spa-fitness makeover where you can discover a better and brighter you. Exhale Spa has several different locations across the United States. From Los Angeles to Dallas, to six different locations in New York City, it isn’t surprising to see the successful team at Exhale expanding across the land. With positive and motivating personalities greeting you from the moment you walk in, we start this three-step process at Exhale on the sixteenth floor of the Epic Hotel in Downtown Miami. Core Fusion Extreme abolishes fat, revs your metabolism, and amplifies your strength and willpower in a 60-minute class. With five stations, two exercises each, and an instructor who will not let you give up, you are guaranteed to sweat out any toxins from the weekend or a rough day at work. During this hour, you will face 40-second reps of squats, skull crushers, pushups, suspension training, core training, and what they call “cardio explosions” to push you to your absolute maximum potential. Actually, what really got him was the color. “I was hooked. What I loved about the process was that every color was mixed by hand.” Pretty! But we saw for ourselves at his studio that the process of screenprinting is no picnic. Each color in any given image comprises its own layer that is printed separately and requires its own laboriously crafted screen. The completion of a complex print with many colors could take Lichtenstein as long as a year, and along the way he constantly touches base with his artistcollaborators. Most colors he’s ever done? “100 or so,” he told us, “but that was in the early days, when I was a little crazier.” Not that he’s scaled back on innovation, by any means. Day three was off to a great start as we had gotten the hang of all the facilities, locations, and best routes to get to them. Karisha had booked us a massage at La Prairie Spa for the afternoon, which already had us excited at the tender hour of 9 a.m. The majority of the day was spent between the beach cabanas, the gym (have to put in some work, don’t we?), and shooting some hoops at the basketball court. By the time our afternoon appointment rolled around, we were ready to be pampered. Silver Rain Spa, is in fact decorated in such fashion - silver tones mixed with gentle whites to create a restful environment. We were led into our treatment room (after a cheeky muffin) and enjoyed an hour of deep tissue rejuvenation.
