Comments:

This palm adds a dramatic effect to the landscape it is placed in due to its blue like colour, it serves as a focal point since it dominates the area it is placed in due to the contrast it makes with the bright green trees next to it in the garden. Therefore placing it in a particular part in the garden will make it act as focal point. It can be placed in foliage type garden.

Uses:

Bismarckia shold be placed with bright green coloured shrubs in order to contrast with it and make the bismarckia even more dominant ,this could be done with shrubs like the Durenta Erecta (special), its yellowish green colours in contrast with the blue green of the palm will make a contrasting and dominant plant grouping.

Comments:

The tree provides the feeling of protection when placed inside homes around their barrier due to its spikey nature and strong sharp trunk, it will give the feeling of danger to passers and they will not dare to enter the place when they see this palm on the border. Protection is due to its strong leaves that appear to be sharp and will cause pain if approached. Foliage gardens are good for this kind of palm. Due to the spikey nature of the palm and the feeling of protection that it provides, it can be grouped along with Nerium Oleander (pretty) to compliment its keywords and together they will form a plant grouping that will give the owners of the garden that protection they need, also the pink colours of the Nerium Oleander contrasts with the dark green palm leaves.

Uses:

Comments:

The tree provides elegance and sophistication to the garden due to its organised and slender shape of the leaves along with the long slender trunks. it has a tropical nature but with a modern way and can be used in houses where little privacy is needed It can be placed in modern gardens due to its modern tropical look.

Uses:

The chrysalidocarpus lutescens is placed in a grouping with shrubs like the ficus hawaii and the vinca, (decorative) the colours of the vinca and the pale green yellowish colours of the ficus hawaii will make the palm tree lighten up and will provide the viewers with a very eye pleasing grouping due to the combination of colours and the tropical look to it.

The tree gives a spikey feeling and gives sharpness and edge to the garden its placed in, it is very eye-catching in its cactus like form it can form nodes where it is placed in the centre and will give a beautiful contrast when placed with shrubs of vibrant colours, this will make it appear even more sharp and edgy in tis own unique eye catching way.

Uses:

Dry soil Evergreen tree Up to 1m -Leaves dark and light green with a medium texture and pointed look -Arranged in clusters on top of each other and next to each. -Form a kind of a bush -Can be placed indoors or outdoors.

The Darcaena Santa Rosa is very eye catching and sharp, in order to give it the contrast needed and make it stand out as a landmark when placed in the centre of the garden or in an important spot, it can be placed with grouping of vibrant coloured owers like the Gazania Chansonette (pretty), the beautiful colours of the Gazania along with the sharpness of the Darceana will make this grouping stand out and form a landmark.

This tree is medium sized and has a fragile look to it, it can be placed wither indoor or outdoor because of its soft looks. The soft trunk along with the falling leaves makes it look soft and delicate, therefore it is recommended to use in small yards and gardens, it can even be planted in pots and can live up to 90 years. It is placed in foliage gardens. Its delicacy can be complimented with soft shrubs as well, theses shrubs can the plumbago , the soft colours of the plumbago can add to the fragile look of the palm and compliment it, giving a soft appeal to the garden.

Comments:

The palm has a sharp edge to it and yet the soft trunk makes it edgy, it can be used in gardens to make a statement since its very rare tree, the contrast that it makes between the softness and the sharpness makes it stand alone and become very attractive. It can be added to a foliage type garden.

Uses:

To complement the softness of the tree, Plumbago can be added to this palm in a plant grouping, along with it can be the Nerium Oleander Which will complement the sharpness of the palm tree, therefore this will produce a contrasting plant grouping which is a mix between softness and sharpness.

About 20 M -Leaves are fan shaped but pointed upward and not draped down. It is 160cm long -Trunk is soft with a black or brown colour, of diameter 1 meter -It is a rare palm in Egypt

Comments:

The organisation of the tree in this way gives it a dramatic and ornamental shape, it can be a shade tree in the streets. Or can be used in parks, gardens and large spaces. It’s a very attractive tree due to the blossoming of the leaves in this manner that it forms a very attractive skyline. It can live up to 100 years It can be put in foliage type of garden

Uses:

This palm is very attractive due to the blossoming of its leaves, therefore to add more attractiveness to it, it can be done through colours, the lantana and the wedelia can be added since it adds colour and goes well with the oriental feeling of the palm, along with it can be acalypha to define the borders of the grouping.

18-12m H. -Leaves are pinnate about 6-4 long with 100-80 leaflets on each side arching at top, green and long lived. -The leaves are on a wide spreading crown with distinctive characteristic. -The fruit is not edible

Comments:

The tree when placed in gardens gives it an oriental and casual look, it provides the place with an ornamental shade when placed close to each other in a row. The casual look is given by its familiar shape in the Egyptian streets where it helps to decrease the stress when placed in schools and collages. The oriental look is due to its dates and Arabic looks. Mediterranean gardens will best suit this kind of oriental palm The oriental and casual look of the palm can be added along with colourful shrubs to compliment the oriental and Mediterranean feeling of the palm tree and to add a colourful contrast, shrubs like the Vinca (decorative) and Wedelia (pretty) can be added to give the desirable oriental Mediterranean effect to the pheonix Dactylifera.

Uses:

Up to 30 m. -Leaves are 6-4m long ,composed of many linear, greyish green leaflets, arranged in various planes giving a 3 dimensional effect, it produces dates. -The trunk is tall and columnar, the trunk is cladded and rigged towards the top.

Comments:

This tree is widely available in the streets of Cairo and its wood is used for making furniture , it has an informal and casual look to it that is why it is used in the street fronts, it gives the feeling of a rough nature due to its form and leaves so its ideal for the street use, since the Cairo streets are very crowded and rough.

Uses:

Due to the rough nature of the palm and its use in the streets, it can be placed along with street trees that can soften its roughness, such tree can be the cassia nodosa ,the beautiful colours of the casia nodosa and its softness can soften the roughness of the palm and together form a contrasting and pleasant plant grouping.

About 30 m H. -Leaves are fan shaped and usually dry and green about 2 meters tall, the neck of the leave is about 3 meters tall -The trunk is strong and straight -It has a small flower of about 100cm wide that grows between the leaves

Comments:

This palm can be used in clusters to line up a street or a driveway and therefore provides shade for the people. The huge leaves of the tree with its fox tail look makes this palm energetic and vibrant, since it moves with the wind and provides energy to the setting it is placed in. Lining it up in a particular pathway will increase the spirit of this pathway and people walking will feel that they are directed to something energetic and fun. Modern gardens will best suit this kind of palm This energetic palm can be grouped along with the Cassia Nodosa (decorative) and the Cassia Glauca (pretty), these two will add to the energy of the palm and add beautiful contrasting colours to provide a plant grouping that will lift up the spirit of the garden and increase its energy. The tree has a royal look to it, it gives the feeling of prestige and luxury when placed in row that line walkways, these walkways become royal and important the moment they are lined with theses luxurious trees This tree doesn’t provide shade but provides a prestige look when added to the garden and proves that the garden has a refine and luxurious taste to it. It can be best suited in a formal garden

Uses:

This kind of palm needs shrubs that will add to its luxury to provide a dominant plant grouping, it can be added to hibiscus shrubs (pretty) since the vibrant red colour of the hibiscus will give a vibrant look along with the royal palm. This grouping can form a landmark in the area since it will shine out with its prestige and luxury taste.

20-15 m H. -Leaves are long, dark green and feather shaped, 5-3 m long, arranged at several levels -The trunk is single smooth, slightly swollen and white in colour with the green smooth top -Can be used for lining boulevards ,roads and walkways.

Foliage gardens best suit this palm

Uses:

Due to the unique character of this palm tree, it can be grouped with colourful trees to make a unique and vibrant grouping that has a unique character in the garden. Such trees can the cassia nodosa with its bright pink flowers, it can make the grouping exclusive and unique in the place

Comments:

This palm has an amazingimpact on the eye , as it has a very connected leaves and similar which make it look very sturdy connected and continueslike a railway .

Uses:

it can be very nice in a foliage grouping , or if it’s grouped with many colorful flowers , like vinca, Ipomeaor if it’s grouped with Anthemis Punctata

Up to 0.9 m H. has leaves long that emerge from a central point forming a rosette. When grown in bright sunlight thae rosette becomes a 0.9 m high clump of tightly overlapping leaves that will slowly grow. The thick leathery leaves are pinnate and have12.7 cm long by 2.5 cm wide oval leaflets .

It gets its name from the bulging leaf or frond bases that grow to form a distinct -3sided triangle shape that has a striking blue-gray color. The tall, stiff feather-shape leaves are up to 2m long. This solitary-trunked palm can grow up to 7m but is usually only seen around 4-3m.

Comments:

One member of the palm family that could take first prize in the "most unique appearance"category could very well be Neodypsis decaryior triangle palm. It gets its name from the bulging leaf or frond bases that grow to form a distinct -3sided triangle shape that has a striking blue-gray color, thisfascinatingpalm can act as a sculpturein any landscape design.

Uses:

this beautiful unique triangle palm with it’s blue grey colour can be added to it hot coloured chearfull shrub like lantana camara adding a cheerful welcoming look to the group.

Comments:

The plant protrudes upwards in a conical shape, with its bright green colour therefore giving the feeling of life and airiness since its light and moves with the wind. The beautiful geometric shape of the plant makes it suit a formal kind of garden. Apart from life that it adds to the garden it also brings the feeling of delicacy and softness due to its fragile leaves.

Uses:

The bright green colours of this plant makes it suit the combination of amaranths tricolour with its violet chestnut colour and the Senecio Cineraria with its greyish colour, these three together will make a contrasting plant grouping that will attract the eye and move with airiness when the wind blows.

Comments:

The ground cover has a very attractive purple colour, when placed in gardens or even at homes, it attracts the eye and has a beautiful contrast when placed along with other plants. It can be placed in modern gardens, since it has a modern look to it with its fine and pointy leaves and their contrasting purple colour that adds attracting to it and makes it very eye catching.

Uses:

The bright purple colours of this plant when placed with the bright green colours of the Durenta Erecta makes a very contrasting plant grouping that attracts the eye and makes it an important spot in the garden.

Comments:

It is a beautiful plant with vibrant yellow colour, this shrub has a unique character to it which makes it stand out in the garden, it is also airy since the flowers are very light and they move with the wind in a swift manner, the appealing look to the plant makes it stand out with its vibrant yellow colours which also brings the feeling of awesomeness therefore it is recommended to add it to a Mediterranean type of garden.

Uses:

The bright yellow colours of this shrub can be complimented when added to other vibrant coloured shrubs to make a plant grouping that is unique, vibrant, awesome, joyful and appealing, the shrubs added can be the bright coloured purple Bougainvillea and the colorful lantana camara.

Comments:

The tall bell shaped vibrant coloured flower makes this shrub a very showy shrub that attracts the eyes of the people, the flowers are showy and attractive to the visitors of the park Due to its climbing nature it can be added on the fences of Mediterranean gardens. The attractive appeal of this shrub makes it go well with coloured shrubs as well to increase the sense of showy and attractiveness

Uses:

The equally bell shaped tree which is the tecoma stans (decorative) with its vibrant yellow colors will look good with the Campsis, both of them are bell shaped and vivid in colors, the bigger size of the Campsis along with the small clusters of the tecoma will make an attractive contrast and will provide the garden with a very showy plant grouping that attracts the eyes.

Comments:

The shrub has a strong yellow colour, it is therefore very showy shrub and can be used to glow up the garden, Mediterranean gardens suit this flower best. The vibrant yellow colour glows in the summer sun and enriches the garden with the beautiful colours that adds and energy and positivity to the place.

Uses:

The pale colours of the Plumbago Capensis (Infill)will make the Cassia Alata shine even more with its vibrant yellow colours and will make the plant grouping glow up and will give us an energetic and positive garden, since the pale plumbago colours will go along the vibrancy and make it shine.

Comments:

The different grading of colours makes the flower dominant when placed in any plant grouping, also due to its strong and vibrant yellow centre, it provides the garden with the energy due to the different grading of the colours and grabs the attention of the people. Its dominance will make it go well with the formal kind of gardens.

Uses:

The brownish colours of the core of the Gazania flower and its dominant colours makes it go along shrubs of chestnut and contrasting colours, like the acalypha (skeleton), this grouping will be in contrast with each other and will bring out the dominance of the Gazania flower, grouping the Gazania along with green ficus trees will also grab the attention of the Gazania and make it shine with energy.

-Flowers are large (up to 10 cm diameter) available in different series of colours, with different colour in the ring. -Dark silvery longitudinal leaves

Comments:

The composure of the tree/shrub gives the feeling of sharpness, it can be added in the garden to compromise the delicacy and softness of another shrub, yet putting those two opposites together will make the garden gives contrasts of compromising moods set together, its sharpness is also due to the fact that its poisonous thus gives the feeling of protection and security to the garden which can be an advantage to put on boarders that doesn’t welcome people. A Mediterranean garden will best suit this kind of tree. The sharpness of the Nerium can be added to a plant group that will increase the feeling of protection to the owners and fear to the passers, this can be approached by grouping it with Euryops acraeus (decorative) which has the same spikey nature but with bright yellow Mediterranean flowers, these flowers will add colour, make the grouping shine and increase the sharpness of the Nerium

Comments:

The Ocimum Basilicum has a strong aromatic smell, it fills the garden with freshness, when the air blows the leaves of the shrub moves along the wind and bring the beautifully scented aroma to garden, therefore it gives freshness and airiness to the garden. Can be used in productive garden because the leaves are eatable

Uses:

Grouping it along with the wedelia shrub (decorative)will make an oriental combination , it can be lines also with the acalypha to contrast the colours, this plant grouping will be aromatic, fresh with the aroma, colour and contrast.



Pennisetum purpureum Local name: Soil: Blooming time: Size: Plant description:

¬bjé Dry soil June to November 1 to 1.2m H. -Leaves are narrowly linear , flat or rolled, dark purple leaves of 30cm long. -Flower is crimson shaded, long bristled, up to 30cm long

Comments:

Lightness and airiness appear in its soft texture, since its airy and light can pass through it, which can add a dramatic effect to the garden, it can be put on its own in the garden without the need of other plants to make it shine, it attracts attention since its softness makes it move with the wind, which brings freshness and lightness into the garden. If placed as lining for other plants it will give them a dramatic effect due to its airiness and movement with the wind. It can add an effect to a foliage kind of garden

Uses:

In order to show the transparency and the freshness of the Pennisetum (special), it can be grouped in a numerous ways, one of the ways is to group it along with acalypha (skeleton) on the boarders, which will make it appear through the contrast of its bronzy colour and the brown Pennistum, along with them can be added some vibrant yellow flowers of the Cladanthus arabicus (decorative), it will bright up with its combination with the brown and bronze colours the garden

Comments:

The shrub attracts the attention due to the strong vibrant violet colour of the flower and its strong contrast with the dark green leaves of the shrub. This shrub acts as a masterpiece whenever placed in a plant grouping due to its individuality and adds elegance to the garden it is placed in and uniqueness. This shrub can be added to a Mediterranean or formal garden type.

Uses:

No other coloured tree or shrub should be grouped with this shrub in order not to take the eyes off it, therefore it can be bordered with the amaranthus tricolor and the Senecio Cineraria (skeleton) to give the grouping a contrast and provide a unique grouping with the Ruelila as its master piece.

Comments:

Due to its climbing feature, these kind of shrubs can be used to decorate ugly walls, since they are attractive and bushy, they give the feeling of energy and vibrancy because of their rich red colour, and its many small flowers next to each other . When placed on the walls they can make it full of energy and life after it was an old unattractive wall. It can be placed in Mediterranean gardens due to its colours.

Uses:

The vibrance and attractivness of the red coloured shrub can be added along with the airiness and the freshness of the Pennisetum (skeleton) , the brownish colour of the Pennisetum will give a contrasting airy effect to the plant grouping, the grouping will move along with the wind, give the garden a fresh and energetic look.

Comments:

The tall erect shape of the bright red flower in this shrub gives it the keywords of magnificent, since it shines out and stands out and makes the garden magnificent with its bright red colours and the way it protrudes vertically upwards. It can be added to a Mediterranean type garden. The bright red colours of the flower also brings happy feelings to the people due to the vibrant colours of this shrub.

Uses:

It can be grouped along with the Lantana Camara (pretty) to increase the joyful feeling to the garden and adds more color to it, the verticality of the Salvia along with the spreading of the Lantana will provide just the composition needed to produce a magnificent and cheerful plant grouping.

Comments:

This is a long living shrub that can live up to 70 years, it can either be a shrub or a tree, it is better planted in clusters next to each other, will provide the place with the aroma of the flowers therefore adding freshness to the garden. The bell shaped flowers in the shrub makes it simple and delicate, like adding a feminine touch to the garden since the flowers are not so many in the tree yet each one is soft and delicate on its own. A cottage garden suits this plant due to the aroma that it will give along with the herbs in the garden. The large tree of thevetia (decorative) can be grouped along with something simple like Ficus Nitida (skeleton), those two together can bring a casual look to the street yet also delicate and fresh from the aroma of the Thevetia, this group together can be a very simple and casual look that can be added in on the sidewalk of crowded streets to help people relax.

It should be added to a plant grouping that will not take the eyes off the enormous and great tree, this could be done with the pale colours of the plambago capensis (pretty), the light blue and white colours of the plumbago will give the benghalensis just the combination it needs to lift it up without taking it over.

This plant is best placed along river sides, along with it can be added the Nymphaeacceae which will give it the delicacy needed, along with the tropical feeling of the Strelitizia, this will provide a plant grouping with a lot of freshness and showing off due to the long beautiful green leaves of the strelitzia with its orange flowers and the delicacy of the pale Nymphaeacceae flower.

Uses:

Grouping this cactus along with Dracaena Santa Rosa (special) will compliment the roughness that the flower has with the spikiness of the Dracaena Santa Rosa therefore giving the garden a rough plant grouping that will make an impact in the garden , this king of grouping should be kept away from children gardens.
