Last year, increased support from vendors resulted in a larger catalogue of quality with major rises in average and turnover, a record median, a world’s highest top price, and buyers from 25 countries. Happy vendors make for a happy team at Goffs, but we won’t rest on our laurels.

Our ambition for the Irish National Yearling Sale is to catalogue more top-tier yearlings to meet the demand of the ever-increasing number of international buyers who target Orby. Feedback from several of those who purchased in 2022 was that they love to come to Ireland, they want to buy top class Irish yearlings in Ireland and, while they secured some stunning yearlings, they returned home with money in their pockets. As Ireland’s global shop window for the Irish thoroughbred and with a reputation for Group 1 success, we must ensure that there are enough elite yearlings at Orby this September to meet demand.

The evolution of the Irish National Yearling Sale will see the Orby and Sportsman’s Sales rebranded as Orby Book 1 and Orby Book 2 respectively this year. Offering approximately 1000 Lots over four days, we will create a simply unmissable week for buyers at home, from the UK and across the world. Our client relations team has already begun the drive to deliver the strongest buying bench to Kildare for the best yearlings Ireland has to offer. Just one example is Jacob West who, as Goffs US representative, has delivered double the number of American buyers to Orby in the past two years, most of whom make Goffs their only European sales stop, and he expects to bring even more in 2023.
