Carlsberg: The most water efficient brewery in the world
NIRAS has formed an integral part of a water saving project that enables Carlsberg Brewery in Fredericia, Denmark, to recycle 90% of all process water and halve its overall water usage.
The new plant will thus reduce average water consumption at the brewery from 2.9 hl of water per hl of beer to 1.4 hl of water per hl of beer. On a global level, Carlsberg’s aim is to halve its water usage from 3.4 hl of water to 1.7 hl of water pr. hl of beverage produced. The plant was finished in May, 2021. The brewery is the most water efficient production plant in the Carlsberg Group – and in the world.
Seoul Dairy: master plan for state-of-the-art dairy production plant
Seoul Dairy Cooperative is one of the major dairy product manufacturers in South Korea.
Based on NIRAS’ expertise and knowledge of modern, hygienic and efficient dairy production facilities, NIRAS delivered the master plan for the modernization of the company’s existing production facilities in Yang Ju. This production plant will become the best, state-of-the-art dairy production factory in South Korea.
Atria: €155 million state-of-the-art poultry production plant
Atria - one of the leading food companies in northern Europe – contracted NIRAS to help with the design and digital simulation review of its new €155 million poultry production facility in Finland. The new plant is one of the largest investments ever in the Finnish poultry industry.
NIRAS’s experts have assisted in creating the master plan for the project. They have also been involved in the process part of the conceptual design and digital simulation reviewing of the new plant. Furthermore, our specialists were involved in developing process layouts and making analysis of cost estimate (CAPEX) and investigated different options for the new plant.
MOWI: Major expansion of salmon processing plant in Norway
MOWI is the world’s largest salmon farming and processing company with an annual revenue exceeding NOK 25 billion. NIRAS helped MOWI carry out a major expansion and reconstruction of its Ryfisk salmon processing plant in Stavanger, Norway.
NIRAS designed the expansion of the plant from the initial master plan and hygienic design, food safety aspects and optimum production efficiency to the final detailed design. NIRAS is a long-standing adviser to MOWI and was also responsible for the invitation of tenders for the process equipment. Furthermore, our specialists were involved in developing the process layouts and for making the analysis of the cost estimate (CAPEX) as well as investigating different options for the new plant.
