a waiting room AutoCAD, Google SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
This waiting area in women‘s health care was developed using the 8step process of Evidence Based Design (EBD). Design decisions are based on credible research and observation to support, justify and achieve the best possible solution in the interest of the end user.
Circulation is placed around a central element, rather than confined within a common space. This allows for a smooth experience for the patient and consequently an uninterruptive memory. By creating a system that flows effortlessly from one space to another, the memory derives from a whole experience, rather then a definitive beginning, middle and end. A perceived continuous circulation equates to a perceived continuous remembrance.

9 Although this design was based on an extensive study in the realm of women‘s health, the need for redefined personal space and efficient spatial programming applies to all areas of health care. Instead of using revenue-based design decisions to determine the healing environment of millions, putting the patient‘s true needs as the driving force of design will result in an effective environment that promotes security and is naturally lucrative. Only when the focus is shifted to individually responsive, communal health care design, can the waiting experience successfully develop.
Our project focuses on creating an engaging environment through multifunctional artifacts that simultaneously divide and unify space, henceforth alleviating negative emotions associated with the waiting room experience.

case study: savannah Pencil, Ink, Adobe Photoshop,InDesign
This case study looks at the City of Savannah as house. The concept of exterior spaces, paths, and organizational patterns is applied to the interior of a house, thus comparing their characteristics such as way finding, traďŹƒc patterns and design elements. The principles of space planning reflect the functions of a house on every scale in urban planning.

2 The relationships within a multi-generational family require the creation of flexible, adaptable, and enduring domestic spaces that allow families to grow and live together harmoniously.
The integration of repurposed materials, furniture and spatial composition responds to the complex needs of a multi-generational family and enables the creation of equally complex and responsive environments.
