Overview of Philippines-Malaysia Bilateral Relations: Philippines and Malaysia are deep and longstanding, as the two countries are neighbour’s and ASEAN partners. There have been high-level exchanges of visits in the recent years to strengthen the relationship of two countries on the socio-economic -political and cultural aspect. Formal diplomatic relations have been nurtured through the years ever since a Philippine legation was established in Kuala Lumpur in 1959. The Philippines-Malaysia Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC), which was established in 1993 and later renamed as the Joint Commission Meeting (JCM), and other mechanisms further enhance cooperation.

Malaysia is the Philippines’ 10th major tourist market for the first four months of the year (2015). As of 2012, Malaysian investments in the Philippines reached around US$ 2.3 billion in the span of nine years (2003-2013) Both the Philippines and Malaysia are committed to enabling their partnership to reach full potential not withstanding an outstanding territorial issues.


“Creating cultural dialogue through the arts”

ARTDIALOGO 2016

The program is an initiative designed to build camaraderie through the arts; build a platform to support local artists and create awareness about the culture of participating countries; and create a solid network of artists which advocates art as a tool for community development, participation and cultural diplomacy. The program is based on the concept of reciprocity per as participating groups/countries. It is a 7 day exchange program that shall showcase the beauty and art landscape of the participating countries. It is designed for artists from Malaysia and Philippines to mélange creativity and infuse the cultural experiences into their art works. The participating artists from Malaysia will be housed at Nemiranda’s arthouse in Angono Rizal. There will be activities to showcase Philippine tourism and artistry wherein participating Malaysian artists must create inspiration from for their artworks. Nemiranda Art House/ Atellier (Philippines) Founded by one of the most prominent artists in the Philippines, Mr.Nemi Miranda has been honing the skills of budding artists for many years, nurtures artistic groups in the country, harmonizing talents with communities to create awareness on how art can be use as a tool for social capitalization. The Nemiranda Art House represents various artists in the Philippines. It is located in the art hub of the Philippines, Angono Rizal. The Municipality itself has also been a supporter of the art and uses it in crafting the development policies in the municipality. It welcomes artists, art enthusiasts and tourists to see Philippine artistry at its finest and experience world class hospitality. For more information: www.nemiranda.asia Persatuan SeniRupa -PeRUPA (Malaysia) “Productivity and creativity through visual arts” PeRUPA is a local Malaysian arts guild promoting art appreciation. It also advocates for harmonizing the community with the local talents of Malaysian artists. This artistic organization serves as a platform for art enthusiasts and painters. It organizes exhibitions; represent artists; sells art forms and curates. This is established to nurture the artistic atmosphere in Malaysia. It is open to all interested art enthusiasts and painters. Established to meet the needs of joint activities and associations artists around the Klang Valley / Selangor, which at one time had run out for the painters association activities in the Klang Valley / Selangor .
