A- 001 TALLER DE ARQUITECTURA

Somos una oficina de arquitectura, urbanismo, diseño e investigación con base en la Ciudad de México; nuestro nombre representa la primera idea en la concepción de un proyecto. Regresamos al origen del diseño utilizando la observación y contemplación como principio creativo; pensar es dar forma. Nos guía la pregunta ¿Cómo se hace? Nuestro esfuerzo está en la mejora permanente y progresiva del diseño a través de la investigación, la experimentación y el cuidado por el detalle. El aprendizaje continuo es para nosotros una práctica de oficio. Modelamos distintas posibilidades de generar experiencias y relaciones con el espacio, en un proceso creativo permeable, que incorpora al usuario y sus necesidades para construir una respuesta arquitectónica. Nuestro acercamiento a las ideas nos ayuda a crear espacios que potencializan historias. El trabajo de A-001 subraya la honestidad en los materiales de construcción, su congruencia y pertinencia con su uso.

We are an architecture, urban planning, design and research firm based in Mexico City; our name represents the first idea in the conception of a project. We return to the origin of design using observation and contemplation as a creative principle; to think is to shape. We are guided by the question How is it done? Our effort is in the permanent and progressive improvement of the design through research, experimentation and attention to detail. Continuous learning is for us a trade practice. We model different possibilities to generate experiences and relationships with space, in a permeable creative process that incorporates the user and their needs to build an architectural response. Our approach to ideas helps us create spaces that enhance stories. A-001’s work underscores the honesty in construction materials, their consistency and relevance to their use.

Arquitecto por la Universidad Anáhuac, tiene más de 20 años de trabajo profesional desarrollando proyectos públicos, privados e institucionales. Eduardo Gorozpe tiene estudios de ‘Maestría en Ciudad’ de CENTRO (CDMX, 2017) con una investigación que desarrolló una metodología para el análisis algorítmico del espacio público.

An architect from Universidad Anáhuac, he has over 20 years of professional experience developing public, private and institutional projects. Eduardo Gorozpe has a Master’s degree ‘City’ from CENTRO (CDMX, 2017) with an investigation that developed a methodology for the algorithmic analysis of public space.

Ha desarrollado con su equipo de trabajo nuevas metodologías de análisis de usos y ocupación del espacio público. Ha impartido más de 40 talleres y conferencias en distintas universidades de México y actualmente es docente por asignatura en la Universidad Iberoamericana.

With his team, he developed a new methodology for analyzing the use and occupation of public space. He has given more than 40 workshops and conferences at different universities in Mexico and is currently a teacher by subject at the Universidad Iberoamericana.

Housing Interlomas es un proyecto de residencia estudiantil al oriente del Estado de México que plantea una arquitectura que reúne vida y estudio en comunidad, siguiendo los principios de optimización de espacios en un sistema de cohabitar. El complejo consta de cuatro plantas, en las que se complementan las recámaras y los espacios de uso común: dos salas de estudio, un área de recreación, dos áreas lounge en el roof garden, dos cocinas integrales un área de comedor, un gimnasio y área de servicios de mantenimiento. La forma arquitectónica nace de la experimentación volumétrica en el terreno, con el reto de generar

Housing Interlomas is a studentoriented residencial project on the east side of the Estado de México, which proposes an architecture that brings together life and studying in community, following some space optimization principles in a shared living system. The ensemble features four levels in which the bedrooms and the common-use areas complement each other. The rest of the program is composed of two study rooms, a recreational area, two lounge areas in a roof garden, two integral kitchens, a dining room, a gymnasium and a service area for maintenance. The fixed wooden furniture creates a visual contrast and has an important role in shaping the shared spaces, in some cases functioning as dividing walls, and in others as elements that help differentiate spaces between them, creating interesting paths in the process.

El diseño del paisaje está pensado como un sistema vegetal productivo con vegetación como: pasiflora, limón, lima y guayaba, con la finalidad de brindar un uso alimenticio, más allá de la función estética.

The landscape design was thought as a green productive system, with vegetation such as: passionflower, lime, lemon and guaba. This means to put forward a healthy lifestyle that goes beyond aesthetic function.

Era importante pensar en estructuras espaciales que ayudarían a los habitantes del proyecto a tener una relación más directa con la vegetación y sus productos. Cualquiera puede comer las manzanas o naranjas que se han plantado y cosechado en el lugar.

It was important to think of spatial structures that would help the cohabitants of the project to have a more direct relationship to the vegetation and its produce. Anyone can eat the apples or oranges that have been planted and harvested on site.

El mayor desafío de Housing Interlomas iba más allá de la discusión actual en torno al objeto arquitectónico: era construir una comunidad a través del cuidado del entorno construido y social.

Housing Interlomas’s biggest challenge went beyond the current discussion around the architectural object: it was building a community through caring for the built and social environment.

Casa Ocoxal se encuentra en el bosque aledaño a Valle de Bravo, a 160 kilómetros de la Ciudad de México, en un terreno de 9,000m2 que funciona como un microsistema productivo y en el que la casa se integra respetuosamente. La forma de la casa principal nace de una geometría de volúmenes sobrepuestos a través de los cuales se habita el vacío. La composición formal evoca a las viviendas tradicionales en Valle de Bravo, la imagen de la cabaña con techo a dos aguas, propone una reinterpretación de esta iconografía con una estética contemporánea lograda gracias a la lámina negra en

Casa Ocoxal is located in the forest near Valle de Bravo, 160 kilometers from Mexico City, on a 9,000m2 plot of land that functions as a productive microsystem and in which the house is respectfully integrated. The shape of the main house is born from a geometry of superimposed volumes through which the void is inhabited. The formal composition evokes traditional houses in Valle de Bravo, the image of the cabin with a gabled roof, proposes a reinterpretation of this iconography with a contemporary aesthetic achieved thanks to the black sheet on the facade, the concrete and the glass. Casa Ocoxal es un ejercicio creativo

El proyecto de Azabache consiste en la remodelación arquitectónica y programática de un edificio al norte de la Ciudad de México, en un barrio con alto potencial para el desarrollo de vivienda social.

The Azabache project consists of the architectural and programmatic remodeling of a building north of Mexico City, in a neighborhood with high potential for the development of social housing.

El edificio existente se encontraba en mal estado de conservación, así como con distintas alteraciones no planificadas en su interior y elementos añadidos a lo largo de los años.

The existing building was in poor condition, as well as with different unplanned alterations in its interior and added elements over the years.

La primera labor fue analizar lo existente y depurarlo, para luego plantear una nueva disposición espacial y estética, con el objetivo de optimizar la superficie habitable, manteniendo unas dimensiones

Se configuraron 8 departamentos, dando prioridad a la idea de respetar y valorar espacios de encuentro para el conjunto, como lo fue el patio central, pieza clave en la articulación del programa, que permitió generar un sentido de comunidad entre los habitantes. En la planta baja, se rescató el potencial del material original, recuperando y dejando aparecer los muros de tabique de arcilla. Para las siguientes plantas, se propuso un nuevo recubrimiento de fachada que tiene la cualidad de ser ligero y colaborar en el control térmico del edificio.

Eight appartments were configured, giving priority to the idea of respecting and valuing meeting spaces for the whole, such as the central patio, a key piece in the articulation of the program, which allowed to generate a sense of community among the inhabitants. On the ground floor, the potential of the original material was rescued, recovering and letting the clay partition walls appear. For the following floors, a new facade covering was proposed that has the quality of being light and collaborating in the thermal control of the building.

Toda una vida de devoción por la Virgen de Guadalupe orienta el diseño de esta casa en la colonia San Ángel Inn, en el poniente de la Ciudad de México.

A lifetime of devotion to the Virgin of Guadalupe guides the design of this house in the San Ángel Inn neighborhood, in the west of Mexico City.

El manto que protege y cubre a la virgen es el principal elemento iconográfico, contiene un cúmulo de símbolos paganos y santos que son el vehículo para su mensaje y la construcción de la fe en torno a ella, su color reúne las propiedades del agua con las de la tierra.

The mantle that protects and covers the virgin, the main iconographic element, contains a host of pagan and holy symbols that are the vehicle for her message and the construction of faith around her, its color combines the properties of water with those of the earth.

Estos aspectos se traducen en un elemento ordenador, el manto de la casa, una forma irregular pero continua, con una geometría facetada que acompaña el recorrido y desarrollo de los espacios.

These aspects are translated into an organizing element, the mantle of the house, an irregular but continuous shape, with a faceted geometry that accompanies the path and development of the spaces.

Un conjunto versátil y funcional. La Casa Guadalupe es una renovada interpretación de un elemento icónico de la cultura mexicana y una narrativa del carácter del habitante.

The layout of this architectural program represented an important challenge, seeking to respond to the needs of an unconventional family nucleus, as well as work spaces, lots of light and privacy. Tres ejes sostienen el proyecto de una casa de descanso abierta al viento y a las montañas, en el Valle de Atongo, Tepoztlán, Morelos.

Las amplias vistas que ofrece el terreno definieron la propuesta arquitectónica buscando aprovechar al máximo esa condición, optimizando la integración de luz natural por el sur y la vista del Tepozteco hacia el norte, creando un volumen esbelto para proteger las fachadas oriente y poniente.

Se crearon circulaciones longitudinales para comunicar los espacios interiores de la casa, con circulaciones transversales, que comunican ambos lados de la casa y colaboran en una mejor iluminación y ventilación. El diseño de la casa reutiliza el agua de lluvia y conserva la temperatura de los espacios interiores con una zona verde en la terraza principal, pisos en concreto aparente blanco dan un aire fresco al ambiente y requieren de poco mantenimiento.

Block House nace a partir de la superposición transversal de dos volúmenes, creando un juego de contrastes entre sólidos y vacíos, un prisma longitudinal de concreto negro cobra protagonismo al elevarse del terreno y posarse sobre otro, de concreto gris, en un equilibrio no geométrico.

Block House was born from the transverse superposition of two volumes, creating a game of contrasts between solids and voids, a longitudinal prism of black concrete takes center stage as it rises from the ground and rests on another, of gray concrete, in a non-geometric balance.

Una azotea subutilizada en una ubicación privilegiada frente a la plaza de la República y el Monumento a la Revolución en la Ciudad de México, detonó una colaboración estratégica entre la marca Timberland y Reman Holdings, en la cual se concilió el interés de tener un espacio para la realización de eventos y la creación de una terraza como parte de los espacios de HomeWork. Se respetó la premisa de potenciar la vista hacia Plaza de la República, proponiendo una planta libre techada parcialmente, que posibilita acoger diversos eventos, como fiestas, conciertos, restaurant, bar, prácticas de yoga, entre otros. Based on a Voronoi diagram, which induces a subdivision of the plan based on a set of sites, we propose the design of a space for 11 psychologists or psychiatrists’ offices. The architectural program was added a boardroom with coworking and coffee station that allowed not only to meet the first need, but also to be a space for work, production and coexistence of the same users.

El Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de la Ciudad de México construye su memoria sobre sus propias ruinas, se conforma de una serie de capas que envuelven el legado que dejó cada época y a su vez, la superposición de todas, crea la necesidad inherente por resignificarse en conjunto. El inmueble donde se alberga el Hotel Templo Mayor es una construcción del siglo XVIII, considerada patrimonio histórico por el Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH). El abandono y el mal estado de este edificio nos llevó a buscar brindarle un nuevo significado para rescatar su valor histórico y recobrar su belleza natural.

Mexico City’s Historic Center builds its memory over its own ruins, it is composed of a series of layers that wrap the legacy left by each era and at the same time, the overlapping of all of them, creates the inherent need to resignify itself as a whole. The building that houses Templo Mayor is an 18th century construction, considered a historical heritage site by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH). The abandonment and decay of this building led us to confer it a new meaning in order to rescue its historical value and recover its natural beauty.

Al analizar el proceso constructivo encontramos un común denominador entre restaurar y construir: el andamio. Un elemento que permite crear estructuras flexibles a las condiciones del lugar para adicionar, casi sin tocar lo preexistente, y evidenciar lo nuevo de lo antiguo. Además de facilitarnos el uso de la madera como protagonista estructural.

When analyzing the construction process, we found a common denominator between restoring and building: scaffolding. An element that enables to create flexible structures according to the conditions of the place in order to add - almost without disturbing the pre-existing - and to evidence the new from the old. Con una ubicación como pocas en el mundo, Avenida Rubén Darío marca el límite entre Polanco, una de las colonias más emblemáticas de la Ciudad de México, y la 1a sección del Bosque de Chapultepec. Su condición específica la convierte en una frontera o borde urbano, donde termina la ciudad y comienza el bosque; una franja de legislación borrosa que la ha llevado a convertirse en una vialidad ambigua, desintegrada, poco articulada y por contraste, una de las más caras de la Ciudad de México. El proyecto nace como una medida de mitigación urbana encargada por la Alcaldía Miguel Hidalgo, con el fin de lograr la rehabilitación y el reordenamiento del tramo Av.

With an incredibly amazing location, Avenida Rubén Darío marks the boundary between Polanco, one of the most emblematic neighborhoods in Mexico City, and the 1st section of the Chapultepec Forest. Its specific condition makes it an urban border, where the city ends and the forest begins; a strip of blurred legislation that has led it to become an ambiguous, disintegrated, poorly articulated road and by contrast, one of the most expensive in Mexico City. The project was born as an urban mitigation measure commissioned by the Miguel Hidalgo Mayor’s Office, in order to achieve the rehabilitation and reorganization of the Av. De la Reforma - Campos Elíseos section,

Tras el desarrollo y análisis de un minucioso estudio de movilidad y tráfico, se busca potencializar la vialidad a partir de la implementación de estrategias urbanas enfocadas en la construcción de ciudad para los ciudadanos, dando prioridad a la movilidad alternativa: peatones y bicicletas. Para su diseño, tomamos como punto de partida las siguientes premisas: 1. Reducir un carril en el tramo oriente de la vialidad (sección colindante con el bosque), abre la posibilidad para construir un parque lineal que brinda al espacio natural una forma de ocupación y permanencia más digna. 2. Consolidación de pasos seguros en las cinco intersecciones

Usando nuevas tecnologías en materiales constructivos, se determinó una paleta de materiales que buscan una integración sustentable con el entorno, permitiendo la infiltración y recarga de los mantos acuíferos, así como bajos costos de instalación y mantenimiento. El principio de conservación y respeto por los entornos naturales, nace de la capacidad de contemplación y entendimiento de los mismos. Parque Rubén Darío es una forma de acercar al ciudadano al bosque para intentar difuminar los límites de donde empieza uno y el otro termina.

Nuestra propuesta se emplaza sobre un basamento de piedra atravesado por cuatro muros de basalto oxidado sobre los ejes norte sur y oriente poniente, que dividen la planta rectangular en cuatro secciones; dos de ellas destinadas a exposición y salón de usos múltiples y las otras, para actividades comunitarias, vinculados por medio de un vestíbulo central. Una gran parte del programa arquitectónico se desarrolla en el interior de cada uno de los muros. El edificio fomenta la apropiación e interacción con el bosque y el Jardín Etnobotánico. Se aprovecha la diferencia de niveles en la topografía para añadir un semisótano

The pavilion of the Environmental Cultural Center is developed in response to the contest “ThematicEthnobotanical Garden, Center for Environmental Culture Chapultepec” convened by SEDEMA and the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico in 2020, being one of the five finalists. It is located on a stone plinth crossed by four rusty basalt walls on the north-south and east-west axes, which divide the rectangular plan into four sections; two of them destined to exhibition and multipurpose room and the others, for community activities, linked by means of a central hall. EL JARDÍN ETNOBOTÁNICO Es una continuación del trazo del pabellón hacia el exterior y responde a la topografía existente. Las parcelas de planta rectangular delimitadas por muretes de piedra de Basalto Oxidado se desplantan sobre una serie de plataformas que acompañan el declive del terreno y se integran de manera armoniosa, como remembranza de los basamentos piramidales de los pueblos originarios.

Integrated into the roof, the drainage system ensures proper functioning of the vegetated roof, capturing rainwater and discharging through the center of the columns to a storage system. THE ETHNOBOTANICAL GARDEN Is a continuation of the outline of the pavilion towards the outside and responds to the existing topography. The rectangular-shaped plots delimited by stone walls of Oxidized Basalt stand on a series of platforms that accompany the slope of the land and are integrated in a harmonious way, as a reminder of the pyramidal bases of the original peoples.

Su ubicación y el sistema de plantación dentro del jardín está determinado por el asoleamiento, el sistema de riego, la vinculación con el pabellón y el uso propio de las plantas. EL CONJUNTO: LA VINCULACIÓN DE LA SEGUNDA SECCIÓN DE CHAPULTEPEC El Centro Cultural Ambiental integra la zona a través de 3 recorridos peatonales principales que cruzan el terreno y ofrecen al visitante diferentes actividades y puntos de interés. El antiguo camino de “El trenecito”, ofrece un recorrido para descubrir la zona entre apantles, jardines de polinizadores y plantaciones de dalias.

El segundo recorrido consiste en la peatonalización de la Av. Rodolfo Neri Vela, el diseño de nuevos andadores y la vinculación de los andadores existentes. Por último, el circuito que rodea el Lago Menor, donde el visitante podrá admirar plantas ubicadas a los bordes del mismo y la presencia de aves migratorias. A lo largo del conjunto se ubican las plataformas de observación: anillos de piedra basáltica que contienen en su interior una muestra viva de los principales ecosistemas endémicos de la cuenca del Valle de México. Aprovechando las especies existentes en el sitio, los ecosistemas a mostrar son bosque de Pinos, de Quercus, de Juniperus, Pastizales, matorral Xerófilo y Halófilas. La propuesta busca ser una solución integral para la consolidación de un bosque urbano resiliente, a través de un programa de reforestación

Situado en un espacio residual, en una de las intersecciones viales más complicadas del “Ecoducto, parque lineal Viaducto”, nuestra propuesta arquitectónica se basa en modificar el espacio actual para crear una pequeña plaza urbana, convirtiendo los carriles donde inicia la calle de Patricio Sanz en carriles de baja velocidad, facilitando la conectividad peatonal entre el parque lineal y el pabellón de la lluvia. Con una geometría simple, pero que contrasta con la arquitectura del entorno, a primera instancia se percibe como un conjunto de taludes con pendiente poco inclinada que invitan a perderse entre su vegetación y, al mismo tiempo, a

Es al interior de cada uno de los cuerpos geométricos donde se lleva a cabo la experiencia lúdica, que es la esencia del proyecto, donde el agua deja de ser un recurso urbano y se convierte en un recurso humano. El compluvium de uno de los espacios diseñados, nos invita a observar y gozar de la fuerza y sonido del agua durante la época de lluvia convirtiendo el interior en un gran impluvium con huellas para caminar “sobre el agua” y generar una relación vivencial.

We discovered that the Tensegrity structures are supported by very thin elements that allow working their tension/compression principle and incorporate the void into the shape. Una propuesta que da lugar en cierta forma al retroceso, habilitando un cajón subterráneo que en su interior contempla un carril confinado de transporte urbano masivo y dos carriles de circulación vehicular particular de acceso controlado para cumplir con el traslado, pero que a nivel de banqueta, crea nuevos espacios de diversos usos tanto al aire libre como cerrados pero públicos, para que los habitantes de las colonias que dan frente a esta importante vía de comunicación, encuentren plazas e infraestructura adecuada donde llevar a cabo actividades que hoy en día les es imposible al interior de su colonia.

El Nuevo Museo Nacional de Afganistán en Kabul sienta sus bases conceptuales en el pueblo afgano y su versión de la historia; un proyecto que ofrece una nueva lectura de los hechos a través de su etnografía y tesoros arqueológicos, complementados con estrategias tecnológicas de museografías multisensoriales.

The New National Museum of Afghanistan in Kabul lays its conceptual foundations on the Afghan people and their version of history; a project that offers a new reading of the facts through its ethnography and archeological treasures, complemented with technological strategies of multisensory museologies.

A partir de la metáfora de la montaña como el sitio donde se obtiene el conocimiento, así como un lugar de refugio, se crea un edificio a manera de bloque sólido que se integra con la gente y con el paisaje local a partir del uso de materiales locales y técnicas artesanales de tallado de piedra.

From the metaphor of the mountain being the place where knowledge is obtained, as well as a place of refuge, a building is created as a solid block that integrates with people and with the local landscape from the use of materials local and artisan techniques of stone carving.

Conforme uno se acerca al edificio, su aparente fuerza e impenetrabilidad es rota por dos ejes compositivos que generan una serie de grietas de acceso al complejo: una forma de tributo a la capacidad del pueblo afgano para encontrar refugio excavando en la roca. Ambos ejes aluden al cruce de caminos que han definido la historia de Afganistán; por un lado, el eje político que apunta al antiguo palacio de Darul Aman, hoy en ruinas a causa de los bombardeos; y por el otro, el eje religioso, que apunta hacia la Mecca como reconocimiento del papel que ha jugado el Islam como parte de la cultura Afgana.

As one approaches the building, its apparent strength and impenetrability is broken by two compositional axes that generate a series of cracks to access the complex: a form of tribute to the ability of the Afghan people to find refuge by digging into the rock. Both axes allude to the crossroads that have defined the history of Afghanistan; on the one hand, the political axis that points to the old palace of Darul Aman, today in ruins because of the bombings; and on the other, the religious axis, which points towards Mecca in recognition of the role that Islam has played as part of the Afghan culture.

LA NARRATIVA DEL TAPETE

THE CARPET NARRATIVE

El tapete como un elemento multiusos ha sido muy importante como parte de la cultura y economía afgana, capaz de satisfacer muchas necesidades, han sido usados como piso, como cama, como mueble, inclusive como espacio portátil.

The carpet as a multipurpose element has been very important to the Afghan culture and economy, capable of satisfying many needs, they have been used as flooring, as a bed, as furniture, even as a portable space.

El proceso de tejido de un tapete involucra la creación de textiles por la técnica de entrecruzado de hilos, que va formando figuras, símbolos y patrones dependiendo del uso del tapete. El pueblo afgano ha dedicado muchos años a perfeccionar la técnica, hasta convertirlos en la forma de expresión de sus imaginarios.

The process of weaving a carpet involves the creation of textiles by the technique of cross-linking threads, which forms figures, symbols and patterns depending on the use of the mat. The Afghan people have spent many years perfecting the technique, making them the way of expressing their imaginary.

Así es como nace la idea de crear una museografía basada en los tapetes como una forma de narrativa, que por un lado permitiera ir tejiendo el conocimiento de la historia del país y por el otro involucrar y reconocer a los artesanos locales como parte del desarrollo del nuevo museo.

This is how the idea of creating a museology based on the rugs was born as a form of narrative, which on the one hand allowed to weave the knowledge of the country’s history and on the other involve and recognize local artisans as part of the development of the new museum.

Uno de nuestros objetivos fue lograr proporcionar completa autonomía al usuario y proveer las experiencias que todo niño quiere y disfruta, a todo esto, sumamos el aspecto del branding y como podíamos trasladar una frase que caracteriza a Helados Holanda: “las cosas de familia se hacen en bola”. El columpio que tiene como finalidad ser usado desde una silla de ruedas, se conforma con un sistema que permite al usuario poder subirse a él con total autonomía, a través de una puerta que se despliega por medio de una manivela. La estructura sustenta tres modalidades de columpios; sencillo, doble y uno especializado para usarse con silla

One of our objectives was to achieve complete autonomy to the user and provide the experiences that every child wants and enjoys, to all this, we added the aspect of branding and how we could transfer a phrase that characterizes Helados Holland: “family things are done in a ball ”. The swing, which is intended to be used from a wheelchair, is made up of a system that allows the user to get on it with total autonomy, through a door that is deployed by means of a crank. The structure supports three types of swings; single, double and one specialized for use with a wheelchair, we opted for wood accompanying the structure as it is a kind material with great aesthetic

Columpio Inclusivo busca reintegrar a niños con discapacidad a una de las actividades más importantes de la infancia, columpiarse, acción que representa no solo felicidad sino aportes terapéuticos y motrices en el desarrollo infantil. Siguiendo la idea de que el futuro del diseño se centra en incluir y comprender a todo tipo de usuarios independientemente de su condición, promovemos el diseño
