Terrain does not only refer to the physical aspects of the land, but also considers that the land is not only a physical existence, but also a spatial existence. Land is not just soil, but everything that is hidden under and in the soil, and the institutions that sustain it. A topographic trace is a historical outline, carried out in some act of creation or inhabitation.
