Robotic alignment for today’s workshops

It is virtually impossible to discuss steering and suspension without also discussing wheel alignment, as it is inextricably linked with both.

Steering safety is impossible without correct wheel alignment and today the most simple and precise method is done using robots.

However, tyre equipment specialist CORGHI explains, this is not by robots as we normally imagine them, but by robots in CORGHI’s REMO Compact Due.

CORGHI says REMO Compact Due (Compact Two) is the first equipment in the world made for aligning wheels without contact with the wheel itself; toe is performed without wheel clamping, so there is no risk of rim damage.

No contact negates the need for brackets and other accessories to clamp to the wheel and the REMO Compact Due works on any car or van.

CORGHI says this is the future of the workshop with the vehicle only needing to be driven onto the variety of inlet/outlet combinations and sizes, with transverse options for tight spaces.

Flat Black Universal Mufflers with 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust Tips

Vibrant Performance has expanded its popular Flat Black Universal Muffler program with a new offering of retro-themed muffler/tip combinations. These mufflers feature 100 percent Stainless Steel construction and are available with your choice of a standard five-inch x nine-inch or upsized 6.75” x 9.5” oval body.

Stainless Steel Race Mufflers are manufactured entirely from CP1 Grade Titanium.

Vibrant Performance says these mufflers are ultra lightweight and compact – ideal for passing visual inspection at racetracks where mufflers are required.

Manufactured from premium 304 Stainless Steel and fully TIG welded for maximum strength and durability, they are available in five-inch and nineinch lengths.

It checks the correct wheel alignment quickly and precisely, providing an accurate measurement highlighting the work needed.

A high sensitively infrared camera is used in conjunction with a laser distance sensor. The vehicle is simply driven onto the machine and positioned and neither brackets nor targets need to be fitted to the wheels.

Two robotised units, one of either side of the vehicle, automatically position themselves with the wheels thanks to a laser guided positioning system.

A structured light laser system and Hi-Q artificial vision cameras are used to do a 3D reconstruction of the wheel characteristics.

These lasers and cameras can scan the wheels to determine the angles and coordinates to within 1/100th of a millimetre.

Electronic turntables under the wheels provide steering measurements and a vehicle status analysis is provided in real time on the data screen. Vehicles with only front or front and rear axle adjustments can be tested and wheels aligned with the CORGHI Compact Due.

A printable report explains with graphics the changes that were necessary and a comprehensive database of cars, models and years is incorporated into the machinery, which provides manufacturer specifications.
