ECO-FRIENDLY COMMITMENT VITAL, SAYS PENRITE

The Australian owned oil company says it is about more than marketing speak

When you say, ‘eco-friendly oil company,’ Penrite admits it sounds like corporate fluff published to keep people and governments happy, noting that we’ve all seen it, we’ve all heard it, and we’ve all seen it before.

Amidst talk of new technologies, new fuels, and new lubricants, all with a focus on saving the world, it can be hard to separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to initiatives and plans for the future, so you may wonder, is Penrite Oil any different?

Penrite Oil is an oil company that produces oils, coolants, and additives for a wide range of applications and industries for use in Australia around the world… so how does that translate to being conscious of the environment?

“Our commitment to the continuous growth of people, local business and a strong future can’t happen in a vacuum, so our commitment to growth and excellence has to encompass the environment we live in,” Penrite Oil National Technical and Sales Support Manager, Brendan Hughes, said.

“An important part of Penrite’s mission has always been to be part of seeing the world and powering the ‘Great Australian Road Trip’ and being a part of the family journey to explore our great country and experiencing the wonderful destinations is always rewarding to see.

“Simply put, without keeping an eye on the environment and keeping our country the way it is there will be nothing left to explore and enjoy… if the destination is ruined, the journey becomes pointless.

“With this in mind, Penrite has committed to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future to maintain our way of life in the same way we maintain the engines which take us there.

“Penrite is working hard on developing better practices to minimise environmental impact across all aspects of the business.

“Investment in the efficient use of water and electricity, waste reduction, recycling, solar electricity generation, and water catchment programs are already underway and delivering results, allowing us to make more using less.”

Penrite’s award-winning Enviro Box, a bag-ina-box concept for packaging and dispensing lubricant, is another example of Penrite’s commitment to environmentally conscious packaging.

“The introduction of the Australian Auto Aftermarket Association 2017 Most Innovative New Packaging Award Winner, the Enviro Box, has meant an ongoing reduction in the number of 20 litre HDPE packs that Penrite is putting into the landfill waste over the last six years,” Brendan said.

Enviro Box benefits include:

• 85 percent reduction in landfill waste

• Can be used to hold and dispose of used oil

• Ease of disposal

• 100 percent cardboard recycling

Penrite Oil says its commitments to the future consist of increased use of recycled packaged to reduce landfill; a continuing reduction in warehouse and production footprint through waste reduction; implementation of solar power and energy efficiency measures; and increased usage of rainwater tanks for use on sites around the country. From humble beginnings in Melbourne nearly 100 years ago, Penrite Oil is today still proudly Australian family owned and made.

While the Head Office is located in Dandenong South, Melbourne, it also has other major offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth in Australia and also in Auckland, New Zealand.

Penrite Oil’s products are locally distributed and exported internationally to over twenty countries throughout Europe, Asia, North America, Africa, and Oceania.
