WHAT IS DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION?

BrainStorm Software discusses why every business should care about this important subject

Digital Transformation is a term that has been thrown around a lot in the past few years. But what exactly does it mean?

BrainStorm Software explains that in essence, it refers to the integration of technology into business processes to enhance efficiency, drive growth, improve competitiveness, and elevate the customer experience.

Under the umbrella of Digital Transformation, several technologies play a pivotal role, such as cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, big data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

These terms may sound daunting to many companies; however, it is jump on or be left behind. Statista.com suggests that digital transformation’s value for society and industry could reach $3.4 trillion by 2025.

BrainStorm Software Chief Executive Officer, Ty Osborne, says that businesses that have an effective change management program for their team, and those that are willing to try, will succeed in Digital Transformation.

“We have had customers involved in Digital Transformation for the past 10 years, they are always looking at ways to innovate their company and move ahead of the curve,” Ty said.

Circular Economy

How does driving behaviour impact tyre life?

Replacing tyres more frequently than required can drastically increase overall fleet expenses.

But tyre wear and tear are greatly impacted by driver behaviour, a fact that is overlooked quite often.

Fleet owners can’t afford to neglect this issue, because the way drivers operate vehicles has a considerable effect on the lifespan of tyres.

A systemic approach, efficient use of resources and avoidance of waste are key to supporting ‘Circular Economy.’

Rough driving

Rough driving includes rapid acceleration, sharp turns, and harsh braking, which leads to excessive strain on tyres, so they wear down faster.

It is imperative to encourage drivers to stick to proper driving habits, by providing coaching and regular feedback.

Speeding

Drivers often resort to speeding, especially if they are under stringent deadlines, or if they must cover long distances.

“What’s really been a standout for these companies is that they ensure that their entire organisation is on board with the transformation, and it makes the process a lot easier.”

BrainStorm Software states that according to McKinsey Insights, 143 percent of expected ROI is achieved by businesses with effective change management programs.

By contrast, it says organisations with little or no change management achieve only 35 percent of the expected ROI.

There is a long list of benefits to digitally transforming a company. One includes the environment, which isn’t one of the biggest thoughts in business, but one worth considering – one of the most common reasons is to make business processes easier and increase efficiency in time and money.

“A Digital Transformation is not an easy process, it is one that takes time and the right thought process,” Ty said.

“Do your research, understand your pain points, and the right vendor will be able to implement the right system to meet your business needs.”

BrainStorm Software is a digital transformation company which says it is revolutionising the

Enterprise Resource Planning Software (ERP) landscape for distribution and manufacturing businesses.

In addition to delivering many successful Infor CSI ERP implementations, BrainStorm has also developed a unique platform that extends any ERP with its proprietary BRAiN technology.

Using the BRAiN, Brainstorm Software has developed many solutions to meet specific Automotive industry needs, such as MoBI, a sales management, order entry and CRM solution; B2B eCommerce Portals; WaBI, a Mobile WMS; CoBI, a product configurator; and many more.

BrainStorm Software reports that it saved its Automotive clients over $100 million dollars last year.

But high speeds generate too much heat, which impacts tyres and leads to faster wear.

Speeding amplifies the risks of blowouts and other tyre-related accidents as well.

Educate drivers about the consequences of speeding and enforce speed limits for your fleet.

Bad road conditions

If there are potholes, debris, or uneven surfaces on the road, it causes quite a lot of damage to tyres in the form of punctures, rips, and so on.

Drivers should avoid harmful road conditions whenever possible.

Heavy loads

Tyres are meant to carry loads up to a certain capacity, which can be ascertained from their load ratings.

If the vehicle carries more loads than recommended, it increases pressure on the tyre, thereby weakening the internal structure. Drivers must stick to the weight limits for each vehicle.

Technology can help

Apart from investing in premium quality tyres, fleet owners can opt for IoT-enabled devices and sensors that can monitor driving behaviour. This technology helps to identify driving patterns, while providing feedback and alerts to drivers via app/e-skill module, so that the lifespan of tyres isn’t severely shortened.

Anstel states that its Autonautics Connected Fleet solution is specifically designed to generate preventive analysis which encourages circular economy and reduces ongoing expenses.
