UPPER CONTROL ARMS

From Terrain Tamer

Traditionally, Independent Front Suspension systems have allowed only a small adjustment range for successful wheel alignment. This is particularly true of lifted vehicles, causing issues with camber, caster, ball joint articulation and clearance of the coil assembly. Terrain Tamer has recently released a range of Upper Control Arms, which work to provide a solution for any IFS vehicle up to 70mm. These Upper Control Arms correct steering alignment by allowing greater clearance to the coil assembly and, thanks to their extended length, more articulation of the arm.

Terrain Tamer says the design of these Upper Control Arms delivers maximum shock absorber extension, allowing the shock to restrict full droop, effectively minimising any strain put on the ball joint when the vehicle is lifted. Other benefits include an increase in caster adjustment and negative camber, providing an improved turn-in response and increased directional stability, all working to compensate for body and tyre roll when cornering. Resistant to oil, grease and weathering, and featuring a heavy-duty ball joint, Terrain Tamer’s Upper Control Arms are powder coated to withstand corrosion, and provide the strength typically required in high load bearing applications. Terrain Tamer’s Upper Control Arms are the newest addition to its popular Suspension range, which, along with its OE Replacement range of shocks, springs and bushes, also includes Stabiliser Bars, Smart Coil Springs, Pro Shock Absorbers, and more recently, GVM Upgrade Kits and Parabolic Springs. All parts are available now for a wide range of vehicles. For more information, or to view the range, visit www.terraintamer.com From Manta’s origins in 1974 – when it was established as Australia’s first exhaust wholesaler – to today, Manta says it has built a global reputation for manufacturing premium performance exhaust systems. MOREY’S HEAVY DUTY OIL STABILIZER

A lubricant in its own right

Morey’s HDOS is a 100 percent petroleum-based product and does not contain alloys, graghite, teflon or waxes. Morey’s says its HDOS has been known to be called ‘The Mechanic in a bottle’ as it has always had a reputation of being a quick fix for something old and noisy or just to give something just a little more life. It says it is true that its HDOS will do wonders for something that is very well worn. Morey’s says a well serviced vehicle with the use of Morey’s HDOS can help with reducing some costly repairs of oil failure, bearing failure, engine failure, gearbox failure and more. It says HDOS can increase the stability of your oil; improve the lubricity and life of your oil; prevent metal to metal contact (which helps to reduce heat); improve your oil pressure; reduce fuel consumption, sludge build up, oil contamination, condensation and toxic exhaust emissions; and help with smoother gear changing in both automatic and manual gearboxes while reducing wear. Whether your vehicle is new or old, Morey’s says you can use its HDOS. Morey’s explains that for new vehicles, HDOS will help with keeping your vehicle newer for a longer period of time by reducing that metal-to-metal contact, keeping your oil at its peak for longer and keeping everything clean and lubricated well by reducing the carbon and sludge build up. Morey’s says for older vehicles, HDOS will help with rejuvenating old and worn seals, help clean up carbon build up and sludge from burnt oils, increase oil pressure, help reduce noises and prevent more damage from happening. Morey’s HDOS will mix and blend with all petroleum based automotive oils as well as semi synthetic and full synthetic oils. For more information, contact Morey’s by free calling 1800 637 173 or contact your nearest re-seller or your area sales representative.

ZF AFTERMARKET RECOMMENDS SHOCK ABSORBER CHECKS

The ZF experts say these checks are vital for maximum safety

An often overlooked safety critical component in a vehicle are its shock absorbers, with ZF in Oceania providing some expert tips for safer and smoother driving. Vehicle manufacturers have optimised the design of their cars to handle most road conditions, while providing a comfortable and smooth ride. Although safety is always a primary concern, shock absorbers wear over time, therefore regular checks are necessary, and replacement may be required. ZF Aftermarket’s experts recommend that shock absorbers be thoroughly examined every 20,000 kilometres and replaced after 80,000 kilometres. A correctly functioning shock absorber will control the car’s handling, keep the tyres in contact with the road, and provide a comfortable, noise-free ride. Visual signs of a defective shock absorber include uneven tyre wear, for example, if the tyres are unevenly worn on one axle, or there is a sawtooth formation on the tread. A defective, or worn, shock absorber can impair the vehicle’s traction and stability on uneven roads or in curves. Not only that, it can create a risk of aquaplaning even at lower speeds meaning that safety systems, such as ABS, slip and stability control, may not be fully functional. The braking distance can also be longer, which means that the tyres are no longer as responsive as they used to be. Another indicator is excessive wheel vibration, which could potentially lead to loss of control of the vehicle. If unsafe handling behaviours, noises or tyre issues are reported, it is recommended that workshops inspect and/or replace the ride control components, when replacing shock absorbers and struts. ZF says it is also crucial that shock absorbers are replaced in pairs, that way customers can be assured that all of the vehicle’s shocks are brand new, for optimum performance and the safest possible handling. SACHS Product Expert Craig Lowndes has filmed a safety video all about shock absorbers which can be viewed on the ZF Services Australia YouTube channel and on ZF in Oceania’s social media channels. Safety checks for vehicles after lockdowns

As a result of extended lockdowns across Australia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, vehicles were driven less frequently with many workshops reporting a downturn in regular servicing. ZF Aftermarket recommends that workshops offer their customers a check to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy to restore confidence in road safety. Driving less also means that the effects of worn shock absorbers, such as poor road holding, reduced cornering stability and longer braking distances could go unnoticed. For this reason, ZF Aftermarket recommends workshops should always include a damper test in these checks, ideally with a professional shock absorber tester. SACHS shock absorbers

ZF Aftermarket says its SACHS shock absorbers are distinguished by their original equipment quality and innovative technology, and states they are now ranked the number one shock absorber in European car parc coverage. With the ideal combination of performance and dynamics, ZF says SACHS shock absorbers ensure perfect road grip and cornering behaviour, no matter what challenges the road may present. Locally, the SACHS range has over 3,000 shock absorber references, with a combination of mono-tube and twin-tube gas pressurised shock technology throughout the entire range. PROFIT OPPORTUNITIES

Arnott says independent repair shops can profit from air suspension work, rather than sending it to the dealership

Today, more and more vehicles come equipped from the factory with air suspension. Arnott says a common misconception among workshops is that air suspension repairs are difficult and unprofitable. Arnott says as vehicle manufacturers strive to offer customers superior ride quality, increased safety, and load-leveling capability, air suspension repair will become even more common. Arnott states that its formidable R+D team leads the industry in new product introductions and has assembled the most comprehensive coverage in the world when it comes to air suspension products. Given that the first time an air strut needs replacing is typically after the vehicle’s warranty has ended, vehicles with air suspension may need repairs two or three times in their lifetime. Servicing air suspension systems is more straightforward than many shops realise. If a technician can service chassis, brakes or traditional suspension systems, they most likely have the knowledge and equipment needed to repair air suspension. Arnott says its engineers have addressed a number of challenges related to air suspension installation through innovative product designs, some of which are reportedly easier to install than their OE counterparts. Accurately diagnosing air suspension problems can be the first profit point for shops. Consumers often miss the early warning signs of problems in their air suspension including: • Warning lights on the dash • Sagging suspension • Air suspension compressor constantly working/ not working • Vehicle bottoming out over bumps, riding roughly, or pulling to one side • Vehicle’s front-end pitching forward when stopping or continuing to bounce after hitting a bump • Uneven tyre tread wear • Oily or damaged shock portion of the strut If air suspension failure is detected, replacing the leaking air strut assembly with a remanufactured unit will restore factory active damping (if equipped) and auto leveling functionality. Shops can also replace a leaking air strut with a new passive aftermarket assembly that provides auto leveling and excellent ride quality but without any core handling charges. Determining repair options for customers depends on the customer’s budget, the age and mileage of the vehicle, and whether or not they regularly employ their active damping system. The bottom line is that replacing air springs is not a job only for dealer service departments. Independent shops can partake in this profitable category with a minimum investment in tools and training. As a global leader in aftermarket air suspension products, Arnott says it offers an extensive line of affordable, high quality, products for more than 40 vehicle makes, including products specifically for the Electric Vehicle market, as well as motorcycle applications. Customers can choose between Arnott remanufactured struts, Arnott designed and assembled brand-new replacement air springs, struts, shocks, coil spring conversion kits or compressors. Arnott also offers a number of OES Magnetic Ride products, valve blocks and compressors. Arnott products are available from leading automotive warehouse distributors in Australia. BILSTEIN B6 REPLACEMENT DAMPERS

German suspension manufacturer explains mono-tube shock absorber technology

Bilstein says its B4 series replacement dampers offer “100 percent OE quality” and are a good choice for most drivers. However, it states that people whose journey sometimes takes them through difficult terrain or who own a particularly sporty vehicle should keep an eye out for the Bilstein B6 at their dealer. In Australia, this improved series replacement shock absorber is available exclusively with the advantageous mono-tube technology. This applies to both the normal B6, which stands for maximum street performance, and the off-road version B6 4600. Bilstein says the improved lane stability and optimum handling delivered by the Bilstein B6, compared to the standard equipment or normal series replacement dampers, simply pay off. It explains that sports and off-road vehicles can benefit most from this technology, stating that the mono-tube design allows for a larger effective area of the working piston, ensuring higher damping force and better handling. Due to the so-called upside-down design with the characteristic “thick piston rod”, Bilstein says the front axle strut can also absorb much higher lateral forces, which results in even more precise steering behaviour. It says drivers notice this when there are poor or winding roads (B6) or no roads at all (B6 4600), and states the vehicle also rides much better when towing a trailer or with a heavy load. Bilstein says that the precise handling of all B6 gas pressure shock absorbers improve the driving experience in every conceivable situation. Thus, it states that there are many arguments in favour of this “amazing” product and further, it says the replacement is very simple. Bilstein explains that thanks to the B6 having the same functional dimensions as the standard damper, replacing the springs is unnecessary and the conversion is therefore cheaper than a complete suspension. Further, it says drivers need not fear the loss of valuable features, stating that special B6 versions with DampTronic even retain all the functions of a standard active suspension with electronic control. FASTRON LUBRICANTS

For performance and durability

Business Automotive Solutions, distributor of Pertamina Lubricants, explains that the Fastron lubricants line was designed to help keep engines in top form shape, not only for your everyday car but also for luxury and racing vehicles. Prioritising optimum performance and durability, Pertamina Lubricants reportedly exerts maximum effort for every single drop of Fastron oil, to help make sure your vehicle or machinery engines are performing at optimum levels. All components that build up each Fastron product are said to be carefully selected and made to pass a series of tests to ensure the lubricants meet industry performance standards. Business Automotive Solutions says it is this kind of parameter that drivers may also consider when picking the best lubricant oil for their engine, as there are parameters in addition to the viscosity that it recommends looking out for. Another important factor to consider is the lubricant’s ability to maintain maximum performance in a wider range of operating temperatures. Fastron lubricants were formulated to help address this challenge, it says, stating that Pertamina Lubricants has developed “DuraGuard Technology” that can help lubricants maintain their durability and protection in wide operating temperatures. Pertamina Lubricants states that the purity and chemical structure may allow the technology to provide better low-temperature performance to protect the engine in cold start and still maintain its advantage in high temperatures. Further, it claims that as a world-class lubricant’s provider, Pertamina Lubricants’ capabilities in upstream and downstream oil and gas production continuously allows research and development into such technologies. Business Automotive Solutions says that Pertamina Lubricants has engine oils which may help your vehicle reach its maximum potential in engine performance. Its most premium lines of Fastron oils include Fastron Platinum and Fastron Gold. Fastron Gold is a full synthetic quality engine oil designed for use in the latest automotive petrol vehicles where the manufacturer recommends an API SN/ CF lubricant. With optimum shear stability and high-performance additives, Pertamina Lubricants claim the oil can provide superior engine cleanliness resulting in reduced friction for maximum protection and avoidance of excessive wear. Fastron Gold comes in two different viscosity grades including Fastron Gold SAE 5W-30 and Fastron Gold SAE 5W-40. Fastron Platinum comes in two different viscosity grades: Fastron Platinum Racing SAE 10W-60 and Fastron Platinum SAE 0W-40. Both are fully synthetic premium oil grade, with the 10W-60 being designed for racing engines by combining a fully synthetic Polyalphaolefin (PAO) base oil with a balanced selection of premium-performance additives to help deliver the ultimate lubrication performance in its class. DE-SOLV-IT HEAVY-DUTY HAND SCRUB

Tough on everything but your hands

Cleaning products that work on grease, grime and dirt tend to be very harsh on the hands. Most industrial cleaners contain ingredients that can be skin sensitising, hazardous to our health and/ or the environment. If your hands are exposed to a degreasing surfactant or solvent frequently, the cleaning chemicals may strip your skin of its natural oil and damage the barrier of your skin. As a result, your skin may become very dry and could eventually develop sensitive skin conditions such as eczema or dermatitis. For 40 years, De-Solv-it says it has solved the toughest cleaning jobs and quickly becomes the “go-to-cleaner” for tradies, professionals and households. Having been voted as the number one Multipurpose Cleaner by CHOICE, the De-Solv-it Multi-purpose Cleaners can be seen in all the big hardware stores in Australia and New Zealand. According to De-Solv-it, whilst most cleaning products can have up to 80 percent water, De-Solv-it has 100 percent active ingredients. Performance, efficacy and safety are their top criteria in its research and development of their product range, De-Solv-it says. The newly launched De-Solv-it Heavy-Duty Hand Scrub is formulated with natural actives and is free from any hazardous ingredients, mineral oil, petroleum solvent, parabens or fragrance. The product is also biodegradable and does not contain any synthetic exfoliant or microbeads that are environment hazards. The bottle chosen is made from 100 percent recycled PET material from Australia. De-Solv-it says it is very effective in removing grease, oils, grime, tar, paint, printers’ ink, soil and other tough stains from your hands and yet leaving the hands feeling soft and moisturised. It is also pH balanced, dermatologically tested and clinically proven to be kind and safe to skin. The product is made in Australia, using sustainable and organic exfoliant from Australian Perlite Ore. De-Solv-it says the fine perlite works well as an exfoliant to gently remove grime and dirt without being harsh or abrasive to your hands. Further, De-Solv-it says the amazing thing about this new De-Solv-it Heavy-Duty Hand Scrub is the unexpected feel of the hands after washing with it. It states the hands feel very soft and moisturised, not something one would expect of an industrial strength cleaner that is robust enough to wash off tough grime and dirt. De-Solv-it Heavy-Duty Hand Scrub is available now in 500ml bottles in selected Bunnings stores for a limited time only. De-Solv-it also welcomes trade enquiries for the product and for larger industrial sizes. For more information, please visit www.desolvit.com.au

WHY WORKSHOPS NEED TO BE READY FOR THE FUTURE OF EVS

Aftercare providers need to adapt to the growing use of electric vehicles (EVs)

While conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles currently rule the road, EVs are a growing section of Australia’s passenger fleet. In the future, workshops will need to increasingly manage a mix of EVs while still catering to customers who haven’t made the switch. While workshops are already adapting to EVs, they’ll need to be ready to maintain them at greater scale than ever before – all while handling the different challenges they present. For example, EVs might be seen as a distinct category by itself, but it is far from a simple case of completely switching from the mechanical issues of ICE vehicles to a single type of EV. There are three currently available – Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) – and each has its own individual characteristics and its own growth journey. No single type of EV will take over the roads of the future – meaning that workshops will need the skills and expertise to maintain all three (as well as continuing to provide aftercare for ICE vehicles). Regardless of type, EVs will still require lubricants, greases and thermal fluids and workshops need to be able to adapt and deliver on customers’ performance expectations. After all, the fluids developed for ICE vehicles are functionally different and may not meet full EV requirements, special care is required for hybrid/ ICE fluids, and for full EV vehicles. This is because the technical demands placed on the fluids used in EVs are much so different than in an ICE engine. It means that the first fill – and using the right lubricants – for EVs is vital. From thermal fluids for E-Motor cooling to the transmission lubricants used in differential systems and greases that extend bearing life, Shell says it provides a full range of fluids for mechanical and electrified drivetrains. It says the range has been developed with global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to meet the needs of future generations of hybrid and fully electric vehicles – delivering optimal peace of mind. Shell says this is just one way it helps consumers to manage their sustainability needs, whichever vehicle they drive. From reducing the packaging required to offering carbon-neutral lubricants, Shell says it helps you and your customers avoid and reduce emissions from your purchases wherever possible – helping Australia make the transition to a cleaner energy future in mobility. ET2622 CANDO MOTOPRO

Available from Endeavour Tools

CanDo Diagnostics says it is well regarded for heavy duty truck and off-highway scan tool applications and now, it is bringing its expertise to motorcycles and powersports with the MOTO Pro. CanDo says one thing that jumps right out when opening the box is the sheer number of connectors the tool comes with. While other scan tool manufacturers charge extra per cable, CanDo includes these at no extra charge – an important benefit since every manufacturer has their own specific connector. The MOTO Pro is a full-functionality scan tool for motorcycles and recreational vehicles. It covers over 40 major manufacturers from Europe, Asia and America. Furthermore, PWC or personal watercraft and recreational vehicles such as ATVs are also covered. CanDo is also adding more manufacturers as needed and also includes one year of free updates. The MOTO Pro enables users to read and clear codes, perform bi-directional controls such as actuating components and sensors, display live data and perform special functions, such as service and adaptive resets, injector tests, throttle calibrations and more. The Immobilizer section also allows you to scan security and starting systems and program new keys. When demonstrating this tool on a 2020 Harley Davidson Road Glide, CanDo says the tool is intuitive to use and offers a lot of information. For this Road Glide, it says the tool showed that the connector was behind the left side cover and identitied which connector was needed. Once connected, the MOTO Pro Auto IDs the year, make, and model (or you can select these manually). Inspecting the throttle operation with the tool, CanDo says you can verify the input of the throttle by looking at the angle of the throttle and the actual live data displayed. Actuating the throttle, it says you can see that actual values match their commanded values, so you know that the throttle at the grip is working, and the throttle body is opening. If there was a problem, the MOTO Pro software includes wiring diagrams to help with troubleshooting. This information can also be saved and shown to the customer. With the MOTO Pro, TSBs, manuals and diagrams are included – as is a Remote Technician function that allows support staff to remote into the tool and guide the user. The MOTO Pro is available from all automotive retailers, with demonstrations also available. For more information, go to www.endeavourtools.com.au or call 03 9753 3800.

MOBIL DELVAC MX ESP 15W-40 DELIVERS

Available in 5-litre, 20-litre and 208-litre sizes

After 5000-plus hours of gruelling testing, by six of the world’s most demanding manufacturers, Mobil Delvac MX ESP 15W-40 secured no less than 12 different Manufacturer Approvals. Mobil 1 states “that’s not ‘Meets or Exceeds’ manufacturer specs, but actual manufacturer approvals.” The OEs invest thousands upon thousands of hours in testing, developing and validating ever more technologically advanced engines, that require ever more exacting oil specifications. That’s understandable when you consider, it’s their hard-earned reputation on the line. Which goes a long way to highlighting why the OEs are loath to specifically endorse any product that’s not theirs – especially an engine lubricant. Mobil 1 says those 12 Manufacturer Approvals become even more impressive when you take into account Mobil Delvac MX ESP 15W-40 is a dieselspecific lubricant. It explains that in any DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) equipped application, using an oil that’s not 100 percent correct can have a damaging effect on the very expensive DPF, as well as cause significant issues with the EGR valve. With its advanced Synthetic Technology and mixed detergent system, Mobil Delvac MX ESP 15W-40 is said to be ideal for both old and new engines alike, as well as on and off-highway driving. Its heavy-duty formula reportedly extends engine life in older vehicles, while delivering high performance in modern vehicles fitted with systems such as EGR, DPF, and DOCs (Diesel Oxidation Cats). Mobil 1 says other highlights include outstanding low temperature pumpability, along with excellent control of corrosive and abrasive wear, oil consumption and oxidation. Further, it says it provides optimum control of oil thickening due to soot build-up and exceptional TBN retention over even the longest drain intervals. It also maintains viscosity and protects against the formation of deposits in severe, high temperature service applications, while simultaneously reducing the low-temperature build-up of sludge. In addition to its 12 Manufacturer Approvals, from Detroit Diesel, Deutz, Mack, Mercedes Benz, Renault and Volvo, Mobil 1 says Mobil Delvac MX ESP 15W-40 also satisfies the demanding specifications of many other key OEMs, as well as the latest API SN/SM/SL specifications, making it ideal for use in mixed fleet operations. TEKTILE AUSTRALIA DELIVERS FLOORING SOLUTIONS

A new range from TekTile Australia is providing flooring solutions for the automotive industry

If you have a workshop floor, garage or industrial environment that needs upgrading or simply a fresh new look, TekTile says its industrial floor tiles offer a unique solution. They can be ordered in multiple colours and configurations and logos can be embossed onto the product at time of production. The tiles overlay an existing slab/hard surface and in most cases, can be installed without the need to stop trading. The TekTile Industrial Range was developed with the needs of the automotive industry in mind. TekTile says its research and development team has ensured its products boast features including non-slip and chemical resistance, noise and dust reduction and provide a level of insulation to cold concrete slabs. TekTile says it is an easy alternative to Epoxy Resin floors and says its system is proven globally with tens of thousands of square meters laid. The tiles were even laid in the Pit Lanes at the F1 Baku GP last year as an alternative to painted floors that were proving high maintenance for the client. With point/dynamic loads available up to 130 and 95 kg/cm2 respectively, excellent chemical, abrasion and anti-slip properties, TekTile says its Industrial Range will easily cope with operating vehicles, forklifts and the rigorous activities associated with automotive and workshop environments. Anti-Static/ESD tiles are also available for clients supplying sensitive electronic equipment. The TekTile Industrial Range can be utilised instantly after installation – there is no need for curing times and the tiles are not affected by moisture. For those on a budget, TekTile says the tiles are extremely easy to self-install, or TekTile Australia can offer an installation service, if required. And should a client relocate to other premises, the tiles can be removed and re-used. TekTile says its tiles have been designed and manufactured with the environment in mind. It states that it proudly manufactures its tiles without any wastage as any rejected and surplus material is recycled. Up to 80 percent recycled content is used in the making of TekTile products and 100 percent of the tiles can be recycled at the end of the life cycle. The full TekTile Industrial Range is supported with a 10-year wear warranty. TekTile will be exhibiting at the AAAAExpo in April at Stand E16 and invites you to stop by for a chat to find out more about its product. In the workshop or at the racetrack, Permatex says its ‘The Right Stuff Black’ makes leak-proof gaskets in 60 seconds, that are two and a half times more flexible than a regular cut gasket. “Our leak-proof, elastomeric formed-in-place material is more reliable and lasts longer than precut gaskets,” Permatex, Australia Brand Manager, Sarah McNeill, said. “It’s blowout resistant and protects against leaks and seepage caused by vibration and thermal expansion.” Since 1909, Permatex has been an acknowledged leader in the development of innovative new products and services for the automotive aftermarket. “Products like our Right Stuff Black proves our commitment to pushing the envelope for new product development and innovation,” Sarah said. “Our goal is to be a one-stop shop for both do-it-yourselfers and professional automotive technicians.” The Right Stuff Black One Minute is designed for high-flexibility and high oil resistance applications and has been formulated to meet or exceed performance standards for long-term sealability, durability and handling. “Our Right Stuff Black leads the world in instant gasket maker technology,” Sarah said. “It’s designed as a replacement for conventional gaskets and is perfect for oil pans, timing covers, transmission pans and differential covers.” The team at Permatex values customer feedback, and says the most frequent feedback they receive from Right Stuff Black users is that they “don’t use it on anything that they want to come apart easily,” which it says goes a long way to prove its strength and reliability. JAS ROTATING RANGE

From JAS Oceania

As an Auto Electrical aftermarket specialist and a trusted brand for many years, JAS Oceania says it knows and understands alternators and starter motors. “You can trust the experts at JAS Oceania to provide you with an extensive range of quality products suitable for numerous applications with the added security of a comprehensive nationwide warranty and technical support,” JAS Oceania National Sales Manager, Mitch Bullas, said. The JAS rotating range includes industry-leading brands supported by a vast aftermarket program; Original Equipment (OE), Genuine Quality (GQ), Aftermarket and Reman. “All of these provide a circle of confidence in JAS sourced products that you can trust,” Mitch said. With a dedicated Rotating Units Product Manager, JAS Oceania sources alternators and starters products directly wherever possible from ISO accredited and OE factories. JAS says it constantly monitors the Car Parc to identify the most up-todate and comprehensive product range available. The JAS Technical Department supports this by QA testing and reviewing products, both pre and post, to ensure quality product selection, verification of newly developed stock and continuous improvement. JAS says it has established longstanding relationships with reputable global manufacturers to build quality units and enhance product development to be at the forefront of the market. The training team also provides installation advice and has compiled a library of technical tips to aid in fitment and fault detection. “We provide one of the most comprehensive coverage periods in warranty for alternators and starter motors in the industry, from 12-48 months across the range,” JAS Oceania Technical Training and Quality Control, Paul Keenan, said. Not only does JAS stock a unit for each application, but it also says it has a comprehensive range of product options within those applications to suit requirements and budgets. Genuine Equipment (GQ) units are sourced OEM or from factories that produce OEM products. Frequently, it is the same product without a badge. “JAS Oceania GQ products are of the highest quality and have one of the lengthiest warranty periods in the industry of 24-48 months,” said Paul. “These products are packaged as GQ to reflect the high quality of the product.” New Aftermarket units are sourced from quality manufacturers from the Asia Pacific region. Many aftermarket units sourced are fitted with OE regulators. JAS Oceania states OE regulators communicate correctly with the vehicle’s ECU, reducing the likelihood of experiencing ECU faults. Plus, it says alternators for heavy-duty applications are equipped with quality bearings. JAS also fits OE specified pulleys to particular units in its program range to alleviate ones that can fail prematurely. Remanufactured units are fitted with high-quality new part replacement. Alternators have new regulators, rectifiers, and bearings. “JAS Oceania continues to grow the branch network for our customers’ convenience to access the parts when they need them,” Mitch said.
