EXHIBITIONS

IN THE HESS GALLERY, W600, UNIVERSITY CENTRE FOR THE ARTS

The Everyday Future - Featuring the sculptural work of Quebec artist Jose Luis Torres Curated by Josephine Mills This project invites Lethbridge citizens to think about their vision for utopia at the same time as we consider the disposable nature of consumer culture in Canada. This exhibition is the result of workshops that artist Jose Luis Torres held with a diversity of young people in the city and will be accompanied by a major public-site installation produced with Lethbridge Immigrant Service’s Middle School Youth Group.

IN THE HELEN CHRISTOU GALLERY, LINC BUILDING

Collected by Dr. Margaret (Marmie) Hess: Walter Phillips Curated by David Smith A selection of colour woodcuts by Walter Phillips from the collection of the late Dr. Marmie Hess. As colleagues at the Banff School of Fine Arts, the collection demonstrates the strong appreciation Dr. Hess had for Phillips’ work.

CULTURE VULTURE PRINTING FROM EVERYDAY OBJECTS!

Saturday, September 29 • 11 AM - 4 PM in the Atrium A day of hands-on art activity for the whole family, including refreshments and treatments!

CONNECTING YOU TO IDEAS

WELCOME TO ARTS DAYS IN LETHBRIDGE! Arts Days is here again, September 22 – 30, and we invite everyone to share in the many activities and festivities the Allied Arts Council and our arts community has planned. 2018 is an important year for the Allied Arts Council as we celebrate 60 years of advancing and enhancing the arts in Lethbridge. We invite everyone to join us as we showcase our talented local artists and the diversity in our arts community throughout Arts Days. The calendar is full of opportunities to discover the arts in Lethbridge, including the 15th annual ArtWalk on September 29 and 30, with over 40 exhibitions installed in local businesses and venues throughout the downtown. The Allied Arts Council gratefully thanks all the artists, businesses and organizations who make ArtWalk a highlight of Arts Days. Don’t miss the many literary, theatrical, dance and new media events in our program. From Word on the Street, hosted by the Lethbridge Public Library on September 22, through the Family Affair on the Square on September 30, we invite you to discover the talents found in our thriving arts community.

Amanda Berg President, AAC Board of Directors
