BACKGROUND AAHA Advantage Providing members with the tools and savings necessary to deliver excellent veterinary care AAHA Advantage was developed in 2017 as a direct response to the needs of AAHA-accredited and preaccredited members. The goal of this program is to help practices become more financially sound, which in turn helps them provide quality medical care for companion animals, a key part of AAHA’s mission. How It Works AAHA Advantage is a group-purchasing program that provides discounts and rebates to members. Buying together increases each practice’s purchasing power, and AAHA Advantage members spend 15% more on average than other group-purchasing organizations. The program continues to grow, with more than 1,275 members nationwide. Program fees are purely administrative. AAHA does not retain any of the rebates paid by participating vendors; instead, those savings are distributed back to AAHA Advantage members.

WELCOME TO AAHA ADVANTAGE and thank you for participating! This document provides an overview of your benefits and responsibilities.*
Program enrollment Enrolling is simple. First, an interested practice fills out an online form that contains the terms and conditions for the program. Then, AAHA activates the practice’s account. Every Monday, your company will receive a weekly email notifying you of any changes in membership. The program fee is $300/year and is deducted from each practice’s rebates at $75/quarter. Practices can sign up at aaha.org/advantage. Only AAHA-accredited and preaccredited practices are eligible to participate.
Rebates Quarterly rebates are paid one quarter after the quarter in which they were earned. For example, if a practice made qualifying purchases in Q1 (January–March) they will be paid by the end of Q2 (April–June). If your program includes a quarterly rebate payment to AAHA for disbursement to the participating hospital, payment must be received 60 days after the end of the quarter in which they were earned. If your payment for the quarter is not received in this time frame, the rebate will be paid the following quarter. Data must be provided in the format described below within the 60-day processing period to be included in the quarterly payment. If AAHA does not receive the rebate backup in this time frame, the rebates will be paid once the data is received.
Data To give practices an accurate understanding of their rebates and savings, we ask that your company provides purchasing data on a quarterly basis in the format provided below. We ask that all data is provided, regardless of whether your program is an off-invoice discount or a rebate of any kind (even if it is paid directly to the practice.) AAHA ID

Marketing Opportunities We employ several marketing tactics to nurture your relationship with AAHA Advantage practices as we aim to increase awareness and utilization of your program. For the best value, we ask AAHA Advantage vendors to contribute a minimum of $4,500 towards marketing within Advantage every year and to participate in our Strategic Alliance program.
EDUCATIONAL WEBINARS Education for AAHA practice consultants and accreditation specialists is available via a monthly webinar. The primary purpose of these webinars is to educate the AAHA team on your company, products, and discount program.* Cost $3,000 *There may be additional opportunities to interact with the team in person at one of our biannual trainings. If you are interested in this option, please contact the program manager, Nathan Chambers.
AAHA ADVANTAGE ANNUAL EVENT Each year, AAHA Advantage hosts an annual event where our members learn more about our group-purchasing program, including the discounts, rebates, and vendors within the program. Cost $1,500

NEWSLETTER AAHA Advantage sends out a monthly newsletter to all members notifying the practices of changes to the program and communicating rebate progress. This email is sent to all members at AAHA Advantage hospitals (over 10,000 people). This is a great opportunity for your company to communicate promotions, new products, or additional details of your program. There are 12 opportunities throughout the year.

Are you maximizing your rebates each quarter? Some of the rebates in the AAHA Advantage program are based on quarterly purchases. To make sure you hit your goals, review the benefit guide and reach out to your vendors to see where you stand.

Participating Advantage vendors are invited to submit content for any promotions they wish to feature for Advantage members. It is strongly encouraged that deals are customized for the Advantage program. Ads should be provided 10 days before the newsletter deployment date. You will receive a call for content one week prior to the deadline for the upcoming month’s newsletter. Please be sure to provide a link to the appropriate area of your company website or PDF documentation that can be linked to in the newsletter. Web links are highly recommended. Content must be provided in JPG or PNG format and sized at 600 x 230px. No other sizes can be accommodated due to the newsletter specifications. Additional pieces may be submitted and included if space is available. Analytics reporting (e.g., click-through and open rates) will be provided at monthly check-in calls. Educational content can be accommodated upon request. Cost: $500/month

TARGETED NEWSLETTER Custom email messaging is available for a targeted list (up to three segmented messages/targets) of your choosing. Targeting your message for specific audiences increases the effectiveness of your campaigns. Some successful campaign example topics/targets: • Current customers vs. noncustomers • Practices that have decreased sales • Higher-volume practices that can take advantage of a promotion Cost: $3,500

Benefit Guide All programs are listed in our AAHA Advantage benefits guide, a proprietary webpage available only to AAHA-accredited practices, which is a quick reference with deals listed in the simplest format possible. If you have more information to include, we recommend you create a PDF detailer for us to link to from the benefit guide. Each company is identified by an icon from the list below. The benefits guide is updated each January and should be reviewed for accuracy. Please provide a contact phone number for our Advantage members to reach you if they have questions.
