The Taylor Family Vacation Home The Taylor’s are seeking a great room that is pleasant, comfortable, and is a multifunctional family gathering space in their getaway vaction home in Mérida: the vibrant capital of the Mexican state of Yucatán. The family consists of Victor, a Fiction Author, Kelly, an Associate Professor of Literature, their children Jessica (aged 4), and Christopher (aged 2), and their 6 month old dog named Rosco. They need a place where they can have family time, play games, read, and dine. Their space also needs to resist wear from young children and pets.

This lively space utalizes invigorating natural lighting when needed for reading and play, but can also be converted into a comfortable, relaxing, and homey space by closing the curtains and adjusting the sofa to its lounge or sleeper angle. The Dhruv Velvet Reversible Sleeper Sofa & Chaise with Ottoman was selected especially for its stain and tear resistance -- which will come in handy when the young children and dog are around -- as well as its multifunctionality. Another adjustable piece of furniture is the Cornwall Extension Dining Table which can elongate from 55” to 71”, making this a great peice for when an extra spot is needed at the table or if the family wants to work on a project together. Another comfy aspect of this space is the Pod Hanging Chair with Cushion, which will make a great little spot for a fiction author or professor of literature to read a book and unwind. Large, french doors lead to the adjecent room, allowing for separtion of space while also not interupting the flow of natural light through the house. Traditional elements of Mexican design has been brought into this space through the use of wood ceiling beams, authentic Mexican tiles, and bright colors. This connects the city which their vacation home resides, Mérida, with the interior, creating an enhanced getaway experience.
