Institutional Considerations Teaching hospitals must be prepared to appropriately conduct graduate medical education (GME) in a scholarly environment, and must be committed to excellence in both education and medical care. This commitment is exhibited by provision of leadership and resources that enable the institution to achieve compliance with the program requirements. A regular assessment of the quality of the educational program is an essential component of the commitment.
