A Growing Trend As an increasingly powerful force in the healthcare landscape, urgent care has grown substantially over the last decade. Urgent Care Medicine fills a crucial gap between emergency and primary care services. Board certification in Urgent Care Medicine clearly demonstrates and differentiates the proficiency and commitment of dedicated urgent care physicians.
Eligibility The Board of Certification in Urgent Care MedicineÂŽ (BCUCMÂŽ) exam is designed for physicians who have completed a residency in a primary care or emergency medicine specialty and have significant practice experience in urgent care. The certification process is open to allopathic and osteopathic physicians practicing urgent care medicine in the U.S. or Canada. Applicants must have completed a residency in an ACGME/AOA-approved training program, and must practice urgent care at least 1400 clinical hours per year.
