THE BEGINNING
THE DEMISE
The Sharper Image was the brainchild of a visioneer by the name of Richard Thalheimer. Founded in 197 7, it quickly grew to over t wo hundred retail locations, operating for thirt y-one years until 2008. Its origin traces back to its birth as a catalogue for jogging watches, a wildly new concept. Over the years, The Sharper Image was known to carr y products that the average consumer would never have fathomed existing, but upon encounter, became absolute necessities. And this was their sole purpose: to be a conversation starter and to introduce innovation to consumer products exclusively unique to the market.
Sadly, the limelight for The Sharper Image did not last for long as misfortune loomed in the distance. Consumer Reports locked them into public scrutiny as their best seller, the Ionic Breeze was attacked for health hazard findings; The founder, Thalheimer, was forced to step down. Shortly following thereafter was the termination of t wo more CEOs until finally, The Sharper Image left the world of retail and retreated as a quiet business online. It was eventually acquired by another lesser known company. Today, traces of The Sharper Image still exist in department stores, as nothing more than reminders of better times.

Individuals should be photographed as isolated persons on minimal backgrounds and if possible, on podiums. Surreal settings are also encouraged showing the scale of the world we set out to lead.
