hen you are on holiday in Pattaya, or anywhere else, it’s always important to get out and about to explore your holiday destination’s most popular attractions and points of interest. The Pattaya tourism scene has become a family destination over the past few years, focusing more on

Underwater World Pattaya is a world-class aquarium, the likes of which you won’t find anywhere else in the region, offering an educational and funfilled experience for Pattaya holidaymakers. Underwater World is located in an easy-to-find position, directly on Sukhumvit Road in between Pattaya and Jomtien, near to the Makro Supermarket. Famous for their 105-meter long underwater tunnel and a vast amount of sea and marine life, giving you the opportunity to swim with sharks and much more. The aquarium first opened its doors in 2003 and has become the most popular tourist attraction in Pattaya, constantly evolving and showcasing new and interesting marine life for your educational pleasure.

Experience Weedy Seadragon At Underwater World Pattaya, you get the chance to view over 5,000 fishes from 500 varying species, and to experience their 105-meter underwater tunnel that holds up to 3.8 million liters of water, making this the largest of its kind in this part of the world. With the aim of improving your overall experience, the aquarium is constantly introducing new varieties of marine life on a monthly basis, with the newest being the rare and endangered Weedy Seadragon. The Weedy Seadragon is a marine fish related to the seahorse. Common varieties of adult seadragons are a reddish colour, with yellow and purple markings. They have small leaf-like appendages that resemble kelp fronds, providing camouflage and utilizing a number of short spines for protection. Males have narrower bodies and are darker than females. Seadragons have a long dorsal fin along its back and small pectoral fins on either side of the neck, which provide balance. Common seadragons can reach 45cm in length. Like seahorses, seadragon males are the sex that cares for the developing eggs. Females lay around 120 eggs onto the brood patch located on the underside of the males’ tail. The eggs are fertilised and carried by the male for around a month before the hatchlings

emerge. Come along to Underwater World Pattaya this month to experience these stunning rare fish in their full glory.

Underwater World Pattaya is a great attraction for either a full day or for just a couple of hours. Bring the family along to see the shallow ‘Touch Pool’, which will allow you to interact with a wide range of creatures such as turtles, sharks, starfish, many varieties of fish and even stingrays.

There are other zones that fall under the categories of ‘Coral Reef’, ‘Sharks and Rays’, and ‘Giant of Siam zone. The recently-opened ‘World of Jellyfish has over 200 creatures in tubular tanks, and with the special lighting effects, the visuals are simply stunning. Pattaya Underwater World is open: 9am to 6pm daily (last admission at 5:30pm).

Who would Love Pattaya

eing in constant pursuit of the Iron Throne or helping others strive for total dominance can be such a timeconsuming way to spend your life. The ultra-popular HBO drama series, Game of Thrones, based on the ‘A Song of Ice & Fire’ novels of George R.R. Martin, really has become a world unto itself, allowing us to immerse ourselves amidst medieval warfare and unusual pastimes such as incest, murder, betrayal and egocentricity. With colorful characters that reside largely in grey areas, it’s difficult to know who is totally good or bad, indeed if anyone is really 100% either way, excluding Joffrey Baratheon and Ramsey Bolton of course. Westeros shares some interesting traits similar to Pattaya, so it would be no surprise that these three characters would take to Pattaya City like wildfire to Blackwater Bay.

Tyrion Lannister Who doesn’t respect the golden-haired half-man Tyrion Lannister? Besides his brother-humping, sept-exploding and uber-jealous sister, Cersei? Although Tyrion is a dwarf, peoples of all dispositions and disabilities are widely accepted and welcome in Pattaya. The ‘Imp’ would revel in the non-stop party atmosphere of the city. Indeed, he once wanted to find a religion that worshipped the gods of tits and wine. We think he has come to the right place. Tyrion’s family are the wealthiest in Game of Thrones, so he would have lots of money to throw around at Legends Pool Hall or Cafe des Amis, while at the same time using his superior

intellect to keep at least a foothold in reality when visiting the Jomtien Immigration Office. Sandor Clegane (The Hound) Sandor Clegane, more affectionately known the ‘Dog’ or the ‘Hound’, is a true warrior who is straight to the point and a true realist. Known for his halfmelted face and hardline stance against those denying him of a slap-up chicken dinner, the Hound currently finds himself at a crossroads in life. Everyone knows Pattaya is the place for a new start, while also knowing that Sandor wants to change, but not become a pious religious zealot or change too much. He can take care of himself so he would be fine on Soi 6, and is not a bad person under the armor and cuss words, and wouldn’t take any nonsense from the Nepalese tailors. His appearance itself would ensure safety and allow him the new start in life he desires in Pattaya. Lord Petyr Baelish (Littlefinger) With his fingers in every pie in Westeros, Lord Petyr Baelish is one of the most cunning and unscrupulous figures in the Seven Kingdoms. You have to wake up early in the morning to catch Littlefinger out. Famous for running the largest and most successful brothel in King’s Landing, being able to outsmart even the most hardened bar-girl, this Machiavellian figure would already be best friends with the local police chief, would have insiders in the tourist police and would most definitely be on good speaking terms with army generals and those in positions of power. Some might say that Petyr could show the Pattaya hierarchy a few things, which would no doubt be true in his quest to become Mayor of Pattaya.

Trademark Registration in Thailand

Trademark is a recognizable sign, design or expression which distinguishes products or services of a particular source from those of others. The trademark owner can be an individual, business organization, or any legal entity. Trademarks, collective marks, certification marks, and service marks may be registered in Thailand. Service Mark is a special type of trademark that is used in connection with services instead of products. Businesses use service marks to identify their services and distinguish them from others’ services. Certification Mark means a mark used by the owner in connection with goods or services of another person to certify the origin, composition, and method of production, quality or other characteristics of such goods or to certify the nature, quality, type or other characteristics of such services Collective Mark means a trademark or service mark used by companies or enterprises of the same group or by members of an association, cooperative, union, confederation, group of persons or any other state or private organization Thailand does not officially require trademarks to be registered. However, there are numerous benefits that can be considered. A. Registering a trademark provides greater legal protection against counterfeiting and infringement as it protects a company’s name or logo and grants the trademark owner exclusive nationwide ownership of the mark B. Registering a trademark deters others from using your trademark. The registered trademark will appear in trademark search reports ordered by others, likely discouraging others from proceeding with the registration of the same or similar mark; and C. Registering a trademark provides the trademark owner with greater remedies as it increases the likelihood of the successful filing of a dispute resolution case from an infringer. For a trademark to be eligible for registration, the trademark must be distinctive and it should not be similar or confusingly similar to a trademark registered by another person. The Trademark must not consist of any characteristics mentioned in Section 8 of the Thailand Trademark Act B.E. 2534 (with B.E. 2543 amendment). It is necessary that the applicant or his agent shall have an office or address for communication by the Registrar in Thailand.

According to Section 8 of the Trademark Act B.E. 2534(with B.E. 2543 amendment), Trademarks having or consisting of any of the following characteristics cannot be registered: • state arms or crests, royal seals, official seals, Chakkri emblems, emblems and insignia of the royal orders and decorations • national flags of Thailand, royal standard flags or official flags; • royal names, royal monograms, abbreviations of royal names or royal monograms, names, words, representations, terms or emblems signifying the King, Queen or Heir to the Throne or members of the royal family; • national or official emblems, names, monograms and flags of foreign states, international organizations, and head of foreign states, unless permission is given by the competent officer of the foreign state or international organization; • official emblems and emblems of the Red Cross or appellations “Red Cross” or “Geneva Cross”; • a mark similar to a medal, diploma or certificate or any other mark awarded at a trade exhibition or competition held by the Thai government or a Thai government agency for public enterprise or any other government organ of Thailand, a foreign government or international organization unless such medal, diploma, certificate or mark has been actually awarded to the applicant for goods and is used in combination with the trademark; • any mark which is contrary to public order, morality or public policy; • a mark registered or not, which is identical with a wellknown mark as prescribed by the Ministerial Notifications, or so similar thereto that the public might be confused as to the owner or origin of the goods; • geographical indications protected under the law on geographical indications; The registration of the trademark entitles the owner to the protection of his trademark for a period of ten (10) years from the filing date of the application. However, this can be renewed within 90 days before the expiration of each 10-year term. When an application for renewal is filed within the prescribed period, the trademark shall be deemed registered until the Registrar orders otherwise. The renewal of trademark registration shall be in accordance with the rules and procedures prescribed in the Ministerial Regulations. The entire process takes approximately one year from the date of filing. However, trademark protection begins on the day the application is submitted.

One of the newest crazes over the past couple of years has been utilizing social media platforms to take pictures of yourself with your mobile phone at arm’s length in interesting and sometimes compromising situations, otherwise known to the young-uns as a ‘selfie’. No doubt the definition will become a real word in the next few years and find itself gracing the pages of dictionaries around the atlas, while older words no longer in use such as ‘snollygoster’ fall off the edge of the literary flat-earth. Taking a selfie doesn’t need a doctorate degree from Oxford University or an intricate understanding of Quantum Mechanics. It simply needs a camera phone, Wi-Fi internet access and yourself in an interesting setting, most favorably behind you!

Selfies to Wind up Friends Back Home I am going to get serious here for a moment, although it does go against my beliefs and principles. I mainly use selfies to wind up my friends back home who are combating the eternal greyness and drizzle of the United Kingdom. I always make sure I am positioned on the most beautiful beaches or other beautiful landscapes such as Silverlake Vineyard or the Sanctuary of Truth for my selfie, just because that’s the kind of person I am – a giver. Culinary Selfies Everyone loves food, and taking a selfie with every meal you enjoy in Pattaya has become a norm. Surely the food must be cold by the time you are getting round to eating it as you catapult a picture of yourself and your dinner across the world’s social media platforms. Show us what you are eating, where you are eating and an honest opinion of the food and it becomes a great idea. Pattaya Selfies that get you in Trouble I suppose this doesn’t really need much explanation. If you are on holiday in Pattaya and your wife thinks you are taking in the cultural sites of Paris, probably not a good idea to take a selfie with a ladyboy on Walking Street. Generally, selfies with women or men in compromising positions can be great masterbation-fodder for the internet’s iron-wristed masses, but use a bit of common sense, because once it’s out there, you have got as much chance wiping religions off the face of the earth than a compromising seflie that gets you in trouble.
