First of all, we would like you to understand the Finn culture about saunas and how it does motivates us to bring health to every household as our mission. Finns think of saunas not as a luxury, but as a necessity. It is a place to relax with friends and family, and sometimes to deal business. Moreover, it is a place for physical, mental relaxation and health improvement. The only Finnish word to make it into everyday English is "sauna". But what it is, and how much it means to Finns. In a dimly lit wood-panelled room, naked men sit in silence, sweating. One beats himself repeatedly with birch branches. Another stands, takes a ladle of water and carefully pours it over the heated stones of the stove in the corner. There is a hissing noise. Within seconds a wave of moist heat creeps up around your ankles and over your legs before enveloping your whole body. Your pores open up and sweat covers you from head to toe. This bathing ritual has been performed across Finland for thousands of years, ever since the first settlers dug a ditch in the ground and heated a pile of stones. Water was thrown on the hot stones to give off a vapour known as loyly. Each sauna is considered to have its own character and its own distinctive loyly. The better the loyly, the more enjoyable the sauna. For those working in the fields in harsh conditions, the sauna provided welcome relief to wash and soothe aching muscles. These warm wooden rooms could be used at lower temperatures too, and were at the heart of the major events of a Finn's life.
Women gave birth in them because the walls of traditional saunas were lined with naturally bacteria-resistant soot, making them the cleanest room in the house. Saunas were also the place for purification rituals before marriage, and the bodies of the dead were washed and prepared for burial on the wooden benches. For many Finns the sauna was the holiest room in the house and the one most closely associated with their wellbeing.
"Finns say the sauna is a poor man's pharmacy," says Pekka Niemi, a 54-year-old from Helsinki, who spends about three hours a day in the sauna, six days a week. "If a sick person is not cured by tar, spirits or sauna, then they will die," he adds, quoting a Finnish proverb. ("Spirits" here means strong alcohol, while tar was historically used as an antiseptic.) Today, Finland is a nation of 5.3 million people and 3.3 million saunas, found in homes, offices, factories, sports centres, hotels, ships and deep below the ground in mines. That’s almost one sauna for every two people. While Pekka Niemi's sauna habit may be exceptional, 99% of Finns take at least one a week, and much more when they visit their summer cottage in the countryside. Here the pattern of life tends to revolve around the sauna, and a nearby lake used for cooling off. Don't imagine, though, that the sauna is purely a place for fun and games. It certainly would not have been in times gone by. "Children were taught to behave in a sauna as if they were in church," says Jarmo Lehtola approvingly. "Sauna is for your mind. It really helps you to calm down in a modern society where it is never quiet," says Lehtola. "You enter this meditative place. It's dark and it's usually so hot that you don't want to speak." There are some basic rules. No eating or drinking is allowed in the sauna and if you speak you should not discuss your job, title or religion. Users can choose between a traditional smoke sauna, electric finnish sauna or an infrared sauna – all varying in heat and intensity. Finns have been asked what life would be like without saunas. "There wouldn't be a Finland without the sauna. It's in our DNA," Finn says.
"If somebody wants to understand what it is to be a Finn then they have to understand what a sauna is. If you do not experience sauna then you do not experience Finland.” It is definitely worth investing in private sauna for our homes and commercial property to be healthy and live a long life. Based on statistics about causes of death, Malaysia 2020, the top killers are Ischaemic heart diseases (heart attack), follow by pneumonia (lung infection), cerebrovascular diseases (stroke), transport accidents, chronic lower respiratory disease (lung health) Research shows that going to the sauna several times a week makes you less likely to experience a heart attack which is the number one killer in Malaysia and it can reduce the risk of pneumonia, chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic respiratory disease, dementia and more Besides, sauna use is also known to help lung health. The heat from the sauna may improve individuals with chronic lung disease such as asthma and COPD as known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It helps improve lung function in people with acute respiratory symptoms from colds and allergies. As written by Dr Sherry A. Rogers – “Detoxify or Die”, there is now no question that accumulated toxins are behind nearly every disease, symptom, injury and malfunction of the body. If we get these ubiquitously unavoidable toxic chemicals out of the body, we can reverse and even cure the most hopeless diseases. The skin of the average adult is 11,000 square feet of surface area. When we sweat, poisons from blood and lymph are excreted. One of the safest and oldest methods of detoxification is sweaty exercise. Dr. Rogers also recommends using a far-infrared (FIR) sauna, the treatment of choice for firemen exposed to toxins at the World Trade Center. She cautions that people must replace electrolytes (minerals such as magnesium and zinc) after each sweat-inducing session. You must also understand the undeniable truth that our daily life are constantly filled with toxicity such as: 1. Food – pesticides, cleaning products (eg. detergent, sanitizer), toxic chemical in metals and plastics, preservatives and naturally occurring toxins. 2. Environmental pollution – air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, noise pollution, radioactive pollution and viruses. 3. Lifestyle – sleeping habit, alcohol, not doing enough physical activity, unhealthy diet and smoking 4. Radiation – electromagnetic radiation from your mobile phone, computer and other electrical devices
Because we are continually exposed to toxins on a daily basis, detoxification is something that will need to be done on an ongoing basis. That is why detoxification is key to health. Some days, achieving your dream sauna might seem like a faraway dream. But, if you implement the right strategies, you can get there far sooner than you think. We have outlined 8 simple, tried-and-tested techniques you can use to achieve your dream sauna
If you are serious about saving thousands of dollars for your sauna, one of the first steps you absolutely must attain is a good ventilation system, which is the most important element in a sauna. Users who purchase a sauna would prefer to look into a sauna heater than the ventilation system which is a terrible idea. The main functions of ventilation are removal of humidity excesses and providing of a fresh air circulation while in the sauna. Do take note while in the sauna, the air circulation should be changed 7-8 times in an hour. This means that air must not only enter the sauna, but should circulate in it – saturated carbon dioxide is released and removed, and the sauna room is filled with fresh air again. In a well-built sauna, heat should be spread evenly. There should not be felt the extreme contrast of the heat between the upper and lower sauna benches – that is still rarely met in the saunas today. Nowadays, users are often mislead about the information and building method of saunas. You should choose experts in this area while not the ordinary builders who would not mention the ventilation system. Establishment of a good ventilation system in the sauna is a complicated job that requires specific knowledge. Therefore, it is not necessary to experiment here, it is better to rely on the assistance of a sauna specialist.
The thumb of rules of the ventilation system includes the supply of fresh air into the sauna room and air exhaustion. In order to provide good heating of the sauna heater and comfortness in the sauna, it is necessary to get fresh air supplied to the sauna room. There should be left space between the door and the floor for the stream of air. But sometimes in order to ensure good sauna ventilation, it is not enough to leave the space under the door. In this case, we recommend installing an additional air-vent at the bottom of the wall to which the heater is installed. This method will promote a large amount of air to enhance the performance of the electric heater. The basic principle of ventilation – first, air incoming to the sauna should all be removed. As it is mentioned earlier, the air while being in the sauna should be changed 7-8 times per hour. The air in the sauna should be circulated in circles: heat from the heater, it must rise to the ceiling and spread over the benches and, falling under them, then it should outgo through the outlet. Thus, an even temperature is in both – the top and the bottom of the sauna. There should be an inlet and outlet of air in this circle. The main mistake detected during the installation of sauna ventilation is incorrectly matched height for the air exhaustion. According to the physical laws, the hot air is easier than cold one, so it goes upwards. The greater the difference in temperature is, the greater the difference in weight of the air is, and the greater the movement of the air stream is. There are very big differences in the weight of air and its temperature in saunas, so the air heated by the heater rises easily. If the air outlet is installed in the ceiling or on the wall by the ceiling, a lot of energy is lost - hot air rises to the top and is exhausted. If the heater is not powerful enough, or its power hardly accords with the heated volume of the sauna, then it is possible that energy input will be significantly bigger. In conclusion, we strongly suggest that you should consider air ventilation before you decide on the position of the sauna heater because a well-built sauna will enhance the comfort of sauna bathing and reduces its operation cost.
As well as a good ventilation system, you would also need to have knowledge about the wiring to attain a well-built sauna. This strategy is powerful as it can help you to achieve a long-lasting sauna with lesser maintenance issues. Insulated copper wiring is an essential for sauna heaters to enhance its durability and it may help you to save thousands of dollars in maintenance cost.
Based on our experience, we have refurbished and serviced saunas for decades. The main problem occurring in a sauna is due to wrong wiring materials which could cost a fortune. Most of the time, the sauna heating elements are not faulty but the wiring used is hardened due to high temperature. We have seen many saunas caught on fire due to wrong wiring being utilised. To prevent this from occurring, you must use insulated copper wiring in your sauna to prevent all the hassles and seek a professional electrician to handle the matter.
Too few users are aware when it comes to prolong the durability of their sauna. Sadly, the consequences could be disastrous and prevent them from ever reaching their goals. Saunas are in fact very low in maintenance if you know the tricks. There are not much to do in the way of ongoing maintenance. And there also are not a lot of moving parts. So there is very little to go wrong. The main complaint we received from our clients is that their elements keep breaking and failing. This is the key problem we mainly find with commercial saunas, where there is a high volume of people in and out the sauna. So what is it that caused the sauna elements to break or corrode? Sauna elements and water damage Electric sauna stoves use electric elements to heat the stones. This in turn heats the room to between 60-90 Degrees Celsius. The heat of the sauna will turn dry, with humidity levels around 5-10%. In most saunas you can add water to the stones. Nor does this increase the humidity levels so that the air does not feel so dry. But it can also infuse the air with a fragrance such as eucalyptus scent. If this scent is added to the water beforehand. Pouring water on a sauna stove is one of those things that people love to do. It feels like it is necessary to create a löyly (unique finnish word for the steam produced from a sauna heater). But the problem, especially in commercial saunas is that people can be a bit over obsessive with their water application. Either due to lack of knowledge or lack of care. And, as there is a high volume of people in and out, water can be poured over the stones more frequently. If too much water is applied this can cause the elements to corrode and eventually snap. Sauna heaters are designed to take on a small amount of water. But water damage to sauna elements is the number one issue we see in saunas.
How to prevent water damage to sauna elements Ideally, we’d love to trust that no one will be too liberal with the water. But short of having someone on guard all the time which is impossible. Commercial saunas will have to find ways of removing of limiting water supply to prevent sauna element damage. That is the reason why we usually build saunas without water tap in it. How to reduce the likeliness of water damage to sauna elements There are a few things that you can implement to reduce the likelihood of elements from water damage. 1. Put up a sign informing users that too much water can damage the sauna and put it out of use. If people are paying for the facility of the sauna then they will likely not want any downtime. Let them know pouring bottled water is also not allowed. 2. Install a water sprinkling system with a button that will automatically ‘sprinkle’ the stones with the right amount of water. This can be installed with a delay timer so that it prevents over watering. 3. Do not install water tap in the sauna to minimise the chances of excessive water sprinkling and damages to the timber flooring 4. Do not use chlorinated water as used in swimming pool or hot tubs as it will corrode your sauna heating elements How to avoid downtime on your sauna Even if you manage to avoid water damage, your sauna elements will need to be periodically replaced and it happens frequently in commercial properties. Your sauna can run on less elements if one or two breaks, but it will take longer to heat up with the remaining element and it will somehow lead to higher electrical consumption. We recommend you always have a few spare elements on hand to replace if they are damaged or break. This will reduce downtime and potential complains in commercial venues. In summary Saunas are extremely low maintenance and a great addition to homes or commercial properties. However, if you are too excessive with the water application you can immediately damage the elements and you will need to replace these sooner than otherwise necessary. Keep your sauna elements working by limiting the water application to the stones and keep a few elements spare in case on emergency.
Precaution method to prevent termites is another straightforward strategy you can utilise to ensure you have a long-lasting sauna. As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure, and that is certainly the case when it comes to dealing with termites. Termites can cause considerable damage so it is always worthwhile taking precautionary steps. Have you ever come home to find small piles of wood dust accumulated on your sauna wood? This is surely a cause of termite infestation. Once they invade your sauna and start feeding on the foundation of your house or your expensive furniture it becomes really difficult to get rid of them, especially because of their minuscule size. Carrying out frequent inspections in your house to check for the presence of termites and other pests can save you from a lot of trouble. One of the main reasons why termites are tough to deal with is that they cannot be detected until they have done considerable damage and have set up large colonies. Since thousands of termites live together in these colonies, this makes it really hard to get rid of them without professional help. If you have detected the presence of termites in your home, then you need to take a few termite prevention measures immediately. Here is a list of things you can do to prevent termites from spreading and ensure that the treatment is successful: 1. Regular inspections Of course the best way to prevent termites is to organise regular inspections. Regular inspections performed by a licensed professional will ensure that any issues are detected early on, before any extensive damage is done and costly repairs are needed. 2. Preventing moisture and water leaks in the sauna Moisture is without a doubt one of the main reasons why termites enter the home and cause damage. Water damage acts as an attractant and will usually always result in active termites in that area of the home. Leaking taps, shower heads and toilets are the biggest causes, which if fixed quickly will prevent the likelihood of a termite infestation.
Another cause of dampness and moisture are air conditioning units and hot water heater overflow pipes. In most cases the overflow piping or drainage outlet is positioned up against the side of the property which results in water gathering at the walls edge. Again this attracts termites to the area, and usually results in termites gaining entry to the property. Prevention method: - Ensure any and all leaking taps, shower heads and toilets are fixed as soon as possible. - Ensure air conditioning drip tubes do not leak up against the wall edge of the property. Install a drain or direct the water away from the home. - Ensure hot water systems are not leaking out near the wall's edge. Install a drain, or redirect the water away from the property. - Any signs of dampness inside the home should be inspected immediately. - Ensuring your roofing and guttering is in good shape is also worthwhile, especially during periods of heavy or constant rainfall. 3. Declutter your house Whether you have hired professionals for a termite or bed bug treatment, it is important to carry out a decluttering drive in your house. Pay special attention to useless papers, cardboards, old magazines and newspapers since these provide a great environment for pests like termites to thrive. If one of your rooms has been attacked by termites, make sure to never take the stuff including furniture stored in that room to other parts of your house that are not affected by the termites. 4. Maintain a distance between soil and wood If you have a garden, ensure that there is some distance between the soil and wood. Most experts believe that at least an eighteen-inch distance is important. This will help discourage any attack from termites on the foundation of your home and the furniture. You can use stones or cement to separate soil from the wooden area especially in your patios, gardens, etc. to create a physical barrier for termites. 5. Build a platform beneath the portable jacuzzi We often see homeowners buy and install large portable jacuzzi, either in the backyard, near the house, or in some cases recessed within timber decking. Portable jacuzzi in particular that are mounted in this way are far more likely to attract termites simply because you have essentially created the perfect environment for them – timber, water and soil directly beneath.
We have seen cases where the entire portable jacuzzi frame has been eaten out by termites that have gained access by coming up through the pavers in the ground. Again attracted by the water in soil. It is essential that homeowners understand that termites are always actively seeking not only timber, but a natural water source. Prevention methods: - Choose the right material for your timber deck such as wood plastic composites (WPC). WPC boards are 100% termite proof and waterproof. Which means you could have a timber furnished decking without worrying about termites infestation. - Choose portable jacuzzi with stainless steel frame structure. - Build a concrete platform beneath the portable jacuzzi. 6. Cedar wood Termites are destructive pests that eat 24/7. If left undetected, a termite infestation can cause thousands of dollars in property damage. As a sauna owner, you need to be vigilant when it comes to termites, and this means understanding potential risk factors for infestations around your sauna. Building materials are one area of concern. It is common knowledge that termites eat wood, but do they actually prefer certain types of wood over others? Could the wood in your home be attracting these pests? Termites like soft wood which are the main material used in sauna construction. Subterranean termites will happily feed on any of the common woods used for structural lumber in homes. It does not matter if it is softwood or hardwood, spruce, or oak. The heartwood of these trees has shown some resistance to termites: cypress, cedar, redwood, and teak. Cedar is the best all-around wood for sauna construction. It allows heat to dissipate so that it does not get too hot to the touch and it is a beautiful reddish color with very few knots. Additionally, cedar gives off a pleasant natural aroma. It is more resistant to insect infestation than other types of wood, although the resistance is enhanced by staining and treating the wood. When a sauna made of cedar is turned on, these naturally occurring oils within the wood become heated and gas off a substance called cedrine. Cedrine attacks the central nervous system of insects and kills them.
Cedar has long been used as a natural way to repel and inhibit insects like termites, certain ants, moths, mosquitoes, and cockroaches. Cedar is commonly believed to be a termite-repellent wood. That said, termites are less attracted to cedar than other types of wood. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, that is because cedar contains allelochemicals. These are substances naturally produced by plants that act as repellents against some insects. Allelochemicals are typically found in the heartwood, or core, of trees. This wood is traditionally darker and denser. For some homeowners, this extra layer of resistance and durability may make cedar an appealing sauna building material. However, it is more expensive than other types of wood.
A lot of sauna enthusiasts are not aware of this point – which is crazy because we think it is an absolute MUST-DO when it comes to saving thousands of dollars for your dream sauna. Select reputable heater brands that heat up your sauna room twice as fast as any other heater. The unique air system; dynamic air chambers that provide enhanced hot air distribution and the patented divided output feature enables energy saving of up to 30%. The main purpose of divided output is to switch on your heating elements separately according to your desired temperature. For example, the first heating element will be heating up to 45 degrees celsius, then the second heating element will be heating up to 70 degrees celsius. Lastly, the last heating element will be heating up to 90 degrees celsius. Therefore, by selecting the right sauna heater for your dream sauna will save you thousands of dollars in electrical bills and maintenance cost.
Over time sauna rocks will start to crumble and break apart. The temperature differences can potentially lead to cracks inside and outside the rocks which decreases the ability to store and give off heat properly. Make sure to replace your sauna stones about once a year or when there are noticeable cracks in the stones. As you can briefly imagine, this is relatable to how often you utilise your sauna so a replacement is needed from time to time. Ideally, you would need to rearrange the stone position to assure it fully covers the heating elements. This will prevent heating elements from being directly in touch with water in order to last longer.
Like many new wellness trends, the infrared sauna promises a laundry list of health benefits — from weight loss and improved circulation to pain relief and the removal of toxins from the body. It has even got the backing of a number of celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Lady Gaga, and Cindy Crawford. But as is the case with so many health crazes, if it sounds too good to be true, it’s worth doing your due diligence to find out just how reliable all those impressive claims are. The most efficient type of sauna heater currently available is the Far Infrared (FIR) sauna. Though it operates through electricity, it has a fraction of the warm up time (around 10 minutes as opposed to 40-60 minutes for traditional finnish sauna), and waste no energy in heating up the air as it warms you up directly. Since it heats you up faster and sweat more, the usage time is usually shorter while less power is used in the session. Some of the concern you may have in buying a sauna is that it will cost a lot in energy and electricity. This couldn’t be further from the truth. While a traditional sauna or steam room, especially older models, can increase electricity bills by a relatively significant amount, with a modern-day infrared sauna you’re not going to see your utility bills climb up all too much. To put it simply, a sauna does not cost a lot of money on energy or electricity. Nonetheless, higher temperature settings and sustained usage will increase electricity consumption. This may be unavoidable in a larger sauna, as you will need a higher overall temperature to warm all the areas in the sauna evenly. Another thing to keep in mind is how efficient the FIR panels you choose. Inexpensive and cheaply made FIR sauna panels are likely to provide far poorer energy efficiency and low emissivity– it is well worth doing a little research to ensure that you're investing in efficient infrared panels.
Saunas are certainly very popular and rightly so. A sauna will help you relax; it can be part of your healthy lifestyle or social whirl. Saunas are generally good to look at and cheap to run. They need very little maintenance. If your sauna fits comfortably and elegantly into your home, which adds value to your home in the same way that a renovated kitchen or renovated bathroom enhances value. Today, a home sauna can be attractively “extra” when selling a property.
One thing to remember about saunas is that they need not be that expensive and they are reasonably quick and easy to fit. One of the reasons that bathrooms and kitchens are so important to selling a house is that they are expensive to replace and almost more importantly, the trauma and upheaval of having them replaced or refurbished is something that everyone is keen to avoid. So they pay the premium not to have to do just that. If you are thinking of installing a sauna in your home then obviously the better thought out and designed it is and the better quality it is then the more impact it might have on your property price. Like other home improvements, a sauna may add value to your home when a potential buyer is interested. For many buyers, there’s certainly something appealing about a home sauna. And while not every home improvement will appeal to everyone, there is much to be said about added “extras” like a built in sauna. The so-called “luxury appeal” is certainly a sign of added value. The location of a home sauna is obviously most important. But beyond location, updated, stylish kitchen, bathrooms and other home improvements help distinguish a home and add to the resale value. And don't forget the other advantages. The benefits over the years cannot be measured in dollars and cents: daily relaxation after a day at work, weekend socialising with friends, therapeutic relief from those aches and pains and one of the best ways there is of feeling truly clean and healthy in the midst of this hectic, bustling world. By any measure, a quality home sauna is a valuable investment. Short term, it offers excellent health benefits, which certainly makes the investment worthwhile. Long term, a quality sauna can provide a good return-on-investment when selling the property. The perfect balance is to install a built in sauna that will satisfy family needs, while it adds home value. The better the sauna, the better the long term value. Like most home improvements, investing in a sauna should be done properly. Whether it’s a custom install or a DIY project, it’s worth working with a good retailer who can provide good advice on location, sizing, features, installation, and maintenance. There’s a lot of furnishings you can add to increase your home’s value. A sauna’s contemporary look you can give to any home and no one will argue against it. It’s gorgeous, sophisticated, and sleek, and the benefits are well-studied and well-known. So imagine using the sauna for a couple of years to improve your health and later on selling the house at a higher pricing. This is equivalent of using it for free!
Sadly, when it comes to building a long-lasting dream sauna. Too many sauna enthusiasts make simple mistakes which cost them a fortune. If you are not careful, you could potentially follow their footsteps and end up falling well short of your goal. But fret not! – we are here to help and happy to assist! We have put together a list of the 5 most common mistakes made by sauna enthusiasts – as well as easy-to-follow tips on how to avoid them.
Far and away the most common mistake sauna enthusiasts make is buying cheap imitation sauna heater and steam generator without realizing it. We see it all too often - we’ve honestly lost count of how many people we’ve come across who have made this error. Buyer beware of cheap imitation sauna heaters, infrared saunas and steam generators. The sauna market is being flooded with cheap imported sauna heaters that look similar to quality time-tested brand units. Before you consider buying a cheap sauna heater, be sure to know warranty info, certificate and that they will be able to offer you replacement parts like elements, control panel, temperature sensor and more. Keep in mind if a cheap imitation brand sauna heater breaks a month after warranty runs out, that parts are typically not available from the distributor. We have seen many counterfeit products being sold as premium heater brand with fake labelled sticker or fake metal carved logo. How to identify cheap imitation heaters: 1. Recognise the sauna heater or steam generator design through the official website of the respective brands. Do request for a refund from the seller if you discover something unusual.
2. Identify the control panel used is well-matched as the original ones through the official website 3. Unscrew the electrical connection part of the heater to check on any China made components in it 4. Pay close attention to the details of the sauna heater and steam generator such as logo placement, color, size and design Take note, a reputable sauna heater or steam generator brand will offer replacement parts beyond the reasonable lifetime, usually 20 to 30 years.
Wrong position of the steam outlet is another common mistake, and is right up there with cheap imitation heater in terms of the amount of money it costs sauna enthusiast. It’s such an easy mistake to avoid, but it happens WAY more often than it should. When building your dream steam room, you absolutely must know about the ideal position of steam outlet. Often, we have seen steam outlet placed beneath the steam bench which is wrong. You must understand that the steam released from the steam outlet is extremely high temperature which will injure your leg if you are sitting nearby. To avoid this disastrous scenario, you should either include a steam base for the steam outlet or locate the steam outlet at any corner which are not directed to your leg.
This mistake might not be as common as the first two we have outlined – but that does not make it any less harmful. In fact, it could be the most costly out of the three – an error that could possibly throw away thousands of dollars from your pocket and leave you further away from ever achieving your dream sauna. There has been increasing evidence in recent years of the harmful effects of electric and magnetic fields (EMF), and increasing research devoted to this topic. This is of particular concern when purchasing an infrared sauna, because most infrared saunas expose you to extremely high EMFs. EMF exposure has long been known to cause a common set of neuropsychiatric symptoms including difficulty sleeping, depression, anxiety, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.
Recent research has shown other potentially more dangerous effects of EMF exposure including oxidative damage and premature aging of our cells, and DNA breakage and even cancer. We, Sauna Luxe Sdn Bhd, are able to produce an infrared sauna with virtually no EMF, due to patented infrared heaters, and comprehensive EMF mitigation of the internal wiring. At best, some other infrared sauna companies have some magnetic field mitigation, but still have extremely high electric fields, and they fail to address this component of EMF on their website or EMF reports. All in all, the purpose of buying a sauna is to improve your health and vitality but if the sauna that you research for does not meet these requirements, do not dump your money into the drain. Our advice is to bring an EMF tester device along your visit to the sauna showroom, test it and if the EMF reading is higher than 3mG (miligaus). You will know the answer, do not buy!
Building a steam room for the best comfort is every owner’s dream. Do you realise that the wall of your steam outlet is too hot to lean on? This is due to the fact that your steam outlet piping is not insulated. Sadly, the industry has too many lazy contractors who cut corners and skimp on high-quality materials in order to improve their profit margins. The result? What should have been your dream steam room quickly turns into a complete nightmare. A qualified specialist is held to a higher standard and level of accountability – making them FAR more likely to be trustworthy than someone who is not. If your steam piping system is not properly installed by someone who knows what they are doing, it could be unsafe for you. You will end up paying thousands to have it repaired, or worse – replaced it entirely. That is why you should always look for a qualified specialist to manage the entire install, from start to finish.
As years goes by, we have found that many of the portable sauna cabins are facing breakdown issues, bad after sales service with no source of parts replacement. The design, features, lightings and heaters are not properly designed to the user’s preferences and most of it does not achieve safety requirements. Users tend to purchase the sauna cabin with the intention of saving money but in the long run, they eventually end up paying more to get it fixed with a new set of sauna heating system instead of replacing faulty ones. The market is currently flooded with too many types of cheap heating elements and control panels which are not replaceable. The advantages of customising your own dream sauna with Sauna Luxe: 1. You can choose from a wide array of different therapeutic and vanity features 2. At Sauna Luxe Sdn Bhd, we have got our fingers on the pulse of building a sauna, and we have picked up a secret or two during our time. Here are just a few gems that you can use to drastically triple the lifespan for your dream sauna and steam room.
Not many people are aware of this but it can drastically triple the lifespan of your steam generator with one simple step which is a good filtration system. Firstly, we need to understand the water quality in Malaysia. The cruel hidden truth about Malaysia’s water quality is that the water contains a huge amount of chlorine which will lead to chlorine gas during your steam session. So imagine, when the water is heavy chlorinated, what will happen to your steam generator? It will corrode your steam heating elements and eventually increase the maintenance cost. Besides that, you are actually inhaling chlorine gas into your lungs. This is one thing that you would not want to happen. Sadly, many contractors cut corners by skipping the most important step for your steam generator that reduces the lime scale up in your steam generator and allows the heating elements, inlet and outlet valve to wear out faster. These shady companies recommend you to change spare parts every 6 months to rip you off and get more of your hard-earned money in their pocket. So by adding a high quality filtration system with NSF42 & NSF53 health effects will solve your maintenance problem. 1. It helps reduces particles as small as 0.5 micron 2. Reduction of dirt, rust, oxidized iron, manganese, and sulfur 3. Highest level taste and odor reduction 4. Chlorine taste reduction
5. Protects your appliances from the damaging buildup of limescale and mineral scale which prolong the life of sauna & steam heaters. 6. Reduces Lead As a result, you are actually killing two birds with one stone in terms of tripling the lifespan of your steam generator and improving the quality of the steam produced by the steam generator.
This is something sauna enthusiast is always shocked when we tell them about it – but once we do, their surprise quickly turns to delight as they realise how much money it can save them. Practically everyone knows that a sauna is important to install an insulation material but few people understand the correct material to be used. Choosing the right insulation material equivalent to saving energy for the environment. Furthermore, what we have found is that in most of the sauna rooms, the ceilings are not insulated which cause heat and energy loss through the ceiling and the insulation used on the sauna timber wall are only up to 25mm thickness with low density which are under basic specification. You may choose thermal fiberglass wool as the insulation material if you are looking for a cheaper alternative compared to thermal rock wool but do not forget about the right density of the insulation material. As mentioned earlier, most heat loss is through the ceiling. Therefore, you will need to use a higher density insulation material for the ceiling. It is extremely important to ensure that sauna walls and ceilings comply with the right insulation material. Moreover, with a proper insulation material used, you are able to save thousands of dollars on electrical bill, enhance performance and decrease preheat time.
For more than 10 years in the industry, this is something we have learned – but it is far from common knowledge, even among other sauna contractors.
Every sauna must be designed with safety in mind. You must truly understand that the cheapest may not be the safest. You may have heard that many saunas caught on fire and wonder why it keeps occuring. Let us briefly explain that many sauna heaters in the market do not necessarily comply with proper safety features. These are the several safety features that you must implement into your sauna. 1. Keypad lock – this function is extremely important for commercial saunas as it has the ability to lock the control panel in order to prevent unauthorised people from adjusting the timer and temperature. 2. Auto cut off timer – this function is an absolute fire saver. The timer can be preset into the control panel starting from 30 minutes up to 6 hours per session. Then, the control panel will shut down by itself at the preset timer. You do not need to worry when the user has forgotten to switch off the sauna which leads to most of the fire incidents in the sauna. 3. Safety – a high priority – overheating cut-offs, thermostats and temperature sensors are vital components that are selected with meticulous care to ensure maximum safety Therefore, with these simple functions added into your sauna system, it definitely prolongs the durability of your sauna. Remember, safety is worth every penny!
