For percussion duo, premiered by the Proper Glue Duo. The piece is split into two movements, each based on the same material. The title of the first movement comes from the serial process of interversion, where a 6-figure rhythmic row is manipulated from the inside out, essentially forking out from the center to create new sequences. This process is also represented by the position of the percussionists on stage. They begin in the middle with the almglocken shared between them, then gradually fork outward to the sides, changing instruments as they go. In this sense, the timbre changes with their movements on stage.
The second movement is a kind of commentary on the first. The title comes from the use of an extended solo for bowed waterphone, where the performer is encouraged to play lyrically, as if performing on a violin, coaxing out long melodic lines from an ostensibly imperfect instrument.
