AART designers For more than a decade, we have opened up new perspectives for our clients through visionary, market-driven design solutions – in both building-based and individual development projects.
We are a dedicated design lab with close ties to AART architects. Together we are a progressive community of designers and architects who combine design thinking with detailed user insight and business knowledge. Add to this a deep understanding of technical production methods and you have the ingredients for opening up new perspectives at the intersection between design and architecture. With our professional breadth, we optimise our processes for each project. For more than a decade, we have worked with ambitious visionary partners and built bridges between developers and manufacturers. INTEGRATED COOPORATION As designers, we come into the heart of our clients' business. This is why it is crucial that we have an in-depth understanding of their needs and situation. It is vital not only to find functional solutions, but also to find the root of the problem to be solved and the potential to be delivered. SKY is an example of how we develop totally integrated solutions in dialogue with our clients – from the initial meeting to the final product launch. Throughout the entire development process, we have worked very closely with Focus Lighting. Primarily with a focus on analysing their market potential, and then with a focus on outlining the concept, optimising production and developing visualisations and trade fair booths for marketing SKY.

SUCCESSFUL NORDIC DESIGN SKY is a series of lights in a stylish Nordic design. By placing the LED light source in the base and hiding the reflector in the top of the fixture, SKY provides a comfortable, glare-free light unique in the market. In this way, SKY plays together with the surroundings, while its clarified form makes it easy to fit into any environment.
By hiding the LED light source in the base of the fixture, SKY provides a glare-free light that is reflected by the domed top plate.
Strong sales and wide media coverage. This is the impressive result of the launch of Sky onto the market. Thus, Sky has already proven to be a commercial success and a strong, attractive design product for future lighting solutions.

FROM INTERIOR PROJECT TO CATALOGUE PRODUCT The IGLOO concept was originally developed in cooperation with VUC Syd for the education centre in Haderslev designed by AART architects. VUC Syd wanted to create a digital and differentiated learning environment where students could retreat from the open learning environment to a shielded dialogue room. Dialogue rooms that would provide a new experience in learning and cooperation. In response, we developed the IGLOO concept – a room within the room built around a number of integrated screens in the middle, so the students had the opportunity to present and discuss at eye level. The concept was quickly recognised by VUC Syd and was put in production and further developed into a series of dialogue rooms in cooperation with Spaces by Holmris.

A NEW FORM OF WORKSPACE The IGLOO concept offers new possibilities in creating clearly defined workspaces in large open room environments. With its hybrid design, the concept can provide a framework for everything from meetings and study groups to individual immersion, while the integrated touchscreens make it possible to adapt the concept to the digital office and learning environments of the future. The structure itself consists of prefabricated modules, which are easy to set up and take down. Each IGLOO is easy to move and adapt to a given large room. The concept is covered with foam covered with fabric on both the inside and outside to create dampened acoustics. The fabric comes in a wide variety of colours, making it possible to add a unique expression to each IGLOO matching the company or educational institution's distinctive profile.

FROM SPECIAL DESIGN TO PRODUCT SERIES LOOP was originally designed for Aarhus Festival Week in 2007. In cooperation with Out-sider, 50 copies were specially made, out of which grew the idea to develop a new and different type of activity sharing furniture that added a positive element to urban spaces and could be used equally well by children, youth and the elderly. LOOP was a great success during the festival week, where people took to it in new and exciting ways: making a sandbox in the middle, playing with Legos, and much more. But the most important thing was that the bench enhanced social interaction – both young and old sat on the bench across from each other rather than being at opposite ends of a bench. After the festival week, LOOP was put in production and has since grown into a series of furniture - LOOP Light, LOOP Line, LOOP Arch, LOOP Corner and LOOP Cone. Today the colourful LOOP family has spread to everything from music festivals to private and public institutions across Europe. AART DESIGNERS / 27

COLOURFUL FORMS LOOP is a series of furniture for indoor and outdoor spaces. With its colourful expression and playful forms and many combination options, LOOP creates a flexible and distinctive space in cities, parks, kindergartens, schools, and much more. A space that stimulates the senses and inspires informal seating and socialising.
LOOP comes in a wide palette of colours with the option of integrating solar-powered lights, so that it glows after dark.

WING /
DOOR HANDLE Balancing a strict and organic expression. This is the essence of the door handle in order to achieve a sharp architectural expression in the interaction with the hand’s soft ergonomics. Thus, Wing was a natural name for the door handle as it just like an aeroplane balances the strictly sharp form that cuts through the air, and the organic soft form adapted to the wind and its buoyancy.

SW AART 01 / WOOD PROFILES
SW AART 01 has been developed in cooperation with Superwood. The goal was to create a wooden facade with a signature ease of expression and variation between light and shade. The solution was a wood panelled profile with roots in solid craftsmanship and the classic tongue/groove structure.

STAND, PROFILE AD COLOURS Based on Superwood’s brand, we have developed a modular stand concept using the new wooden profile SW AART 02 as a recurring element. With its natural and clear-cut structure, the stand creates a clarified expression as a counterbalance to the often hectic trade fair environments. The stand not only presents SW AART 02. It also presents SW Colours, which we developed together with Superwood and Jotun. SW Colours is a modern scale of natural colours that accentuate the wood structure and draw inspiration from ancient Nordic raw materials, commodities and treatments: charcoal, tar, flint, silver, sand and grain.

PEAK / LUMINAIRE
Together with Focus Lighting, we have developed PEAK where modern meets classic. A circular, illuminated disc gives the luminaire a subtle, classic look, while the curved transition from the disc to the bar adds a modern edge and character. These two styles converge in an elegant layout, allowing PEAK to create a simple, integrated relationship between form and function.

MODULAR BENCH SYSTEM Link is an example of our work in the intersection between manufacturer and developer. The modular bench system was developed together with Veksø A/S for VUC Syd in Haderslev, Denmark, who wanted to create inspiring frameworks for education – both inside and out.

Frame was developed in cooperation with Flexys as a modern pergola and bicycle shed with a rigorous, architectural expression combined with a lamellar structure that provides shade and shelter. With its simple framework structure, Frame offers a flexible system with many features and variations.

ROBUST / BED LIGHT
Robust was developed together with Fagerhult specifically for the psychiatric ward at Sygehuset Ă˜stfold Kalnes in Sarpsborg, Norway. The edgeless shape meets the requirements for design in psychiatric treatment environments and builds on a simple idea where form and function merge: the circular form indicates how the light can be easily rotated.

SPECIALLY DESIGNED PENDANT AART#1 was developed in cooperation with Thorn Lighting for the outdoor centre Sletten in Ry, Denmark, where the pendant creates a refined contrast to the tactile wooden architecture. Framed by a flattened aluminium ring, the light source is hidden behind a frosted glass screen for stylish expression and comfortable, glare-free light.

INTERIOR DESIGN For VUC Syd in Haderslev, Denmark, we came up with an open and vibrant interior design. Based on their educational principles we provided a new perspective on learning environments by designing different zones for immersion and knowledge-sharing – ranging from quiet zones to zones for dialogue, presentation and group work.

THE CULTURE YARD / INTERIOR DESIGN
For many years, attention was focused on the adjacent UNESCO World Heritage site, where Kronborg Castle – famous for its role in Shakespeare’s Hamlet – exerts its magnetic pull on both tourists and local citizens of Helsingør, Denmark. However, in 2010 we came up with an interior design that transformed the city’s old shipbuilding yard into an engaging cultural centre, playing on the contrast between past and present.

Light Cave was specially designed for the cultural centre Hermans in Tivoli Friheden in Aarhus, Denmark. The unique space and event design was developed in cooperation with Proshop Europe and Aarhus Festival Week. It formed the framework for Aarhus Festival Week International Night Cabaret, where light projections created the experience of a dynamic, luminous cave.
