DANDIYA RAAS
TRADITIONAL FOLK DANCE
Raas or Dandiya Raas is the traditional folk dance form of Gujarat, India. The sticks (dandiyas) of the dance represent the swords of Durga. The women wear traditional dresses such as colorful embroidered choli, ghagra and bandhani dupattas (traditional attire) dazzling with mirror work and heavy jewellery. The men wear special turbans and kedias, but this varies regionally. Garba is performed before Aarti (worshipping ritual) as devotional performances in the honor of the Goddess, while Dandiya is performed after it, as a part of merriment. Men and women join in for Dandiya Raas. The circular movements of Dandiya Raas are much more complex than those of Garba. The origin of these dance performances or Raas is Krishna. Today, Raas is not only an important part of Navratri in Gujarat, but extends itself to other festivals related to harvest and crops as well. The women wear traditional dresses such as colorful embroidered choli, ghagra and bandhani dupattas, which is the traditional attire, dazzling with mirror work and heavy jewellery. The men wear special turbans and kedias, but can range from area to area. The dancers whirl and move their feet and arms in a choreographed manner to the tune of the music with a lot of drum beats. The dhol is used as well as complementary percussion instruments such as the dholak, tabla, etc. The true dance gets extremely complicated and energetic. Both of these dances are associated with the time of harvest.

AUDREY HEPBURN: A Fashion Superhero
ABOUT THE LEGEND Audrey Hepburn is one of the world'smost admired fashion icons. The British actress was born Audrey Kathleen Ruston and was an active performer during Hollywood's "Golden Age." May 4th would have been Audrey's 86th birthday, had cancer not taken her life in 1993. Born in Belgium to a Dutch Baroness mother and British father, Audrey started taking ballet lessons at the young age of five. Throughout her youth, she traveled with her mother continuing to train and becoming quite experienced by 1944. While studying ballet with Marie Rambert in London, Audrey discovered that her future in ballet was limited due to her height and petite figure caused by the war. It was at that point she decided to pursue acting. Her big break came in "The Secret People." Her fame only grew with films like "Roman Holiday" and "Sabrina," and finally in what are known as her defining roles: "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "My Fair Lady."
HER TRUE STYLE Hepburn is known for her classic, chic style, and women have modeled full wardrobes after her for decades. She earned a place in the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 1961, and her refined, delicate features have won her a spot on many lists of the most beautiful women of the 20th century. Her iconic cropped pant and ballet slippers have become one of the most notable trends in fashion. Audrey was also known for her gorgeous hairstyles, and was the first to perfect the bun as well as make bangs a chic trend.

HOW TO WEAR ESSENTIALS: The Classic White T-Shirt Sometimes the nicest clothes are the most simple. The white shirt is a classic item that will never go out of style. It is a must-have for all.
Everyone knows that a white t-shirt is a closet essential. But if this basic is best being used as a workout tee or as the go-to on a lazy Sunday, then a little wardrobe resuscitation is required. The fact is that a white tee may just be the most overlooked item in your closet with the most potential for outfit versatility. It’s versatile, it’s cool, and it’s a piece that’s able to be worn any day of the year, in any season. That said, there’s something about summer that makes the white tee especially necessary, as it can anchor statement pieces such as wildly-printed shorts or colored jeans, add a casual element to silky, beaded, or even sequin skirts, or simply just convey a sense of summer ease.
A monochrome striped blazer and black pants paired with the obvious white t-shirt, screams fashionista. A look that can be pulled off at an occassion, anywhere. A modern reconstruction of classic looks.

MEET OUR JESTER
This is no laughing matter...
Make- up can do wonders. Not an inch of the boy beneath is left untouched. The evil jester has taken a hold. Can you tell the difference? In a standard deck of playing cards, there are 52 cards. Then there is the unique joker card that is always left out. The joker/jester is often confused with a clown, but subtle differences can be noted; such as the absence of a huge red nose, floppy trousers, and mile-long shoes. In the Middle Ages, being a jester was a real profession, whereas circus clowns didn't appear until much more recently. Jester make-up is typically more elegant and can range from very basic to elaborately detailed.
In the photoshoot, we have tried to recreate the Incredible Jester!
Venetian BALL The carnival of Venice dates back to 1162, where celebration meant food, dancing and fashion. A chance for women to parade in the masquerade balls, and let their hair down. This festival became official during the Renaissance period. The main inspiration lies in the Venetian masks, their mystical intricacies have an influential hold over this trend-to-become. The main elements include, long coats of silk brocade and satin, lace trimmings and maude colours. A recreation of the sensous venetian nights for the modern era, for today’s woman who is bold, sexy and mysterious.

THE SCENT OF A WOMAN
1920’S FLAPPER FASHION
“ They were smart, stylish and sophisticated, with an air of independence about them, and so casual about their looks and clothes and manners as to be almost slapdash. I don't know if I realized as soon as I began seeing them that they represented the wave of the future, but I do know I was drawn to them. I shared their restlessness, understood their determination to free them selves of the Victorian shackles of the pre-World War I era and find out for themselves what life was all about.
