Honourable Marcus Mosiah Garvey, founder and first president of U.N.I.A., proclaims it to the world : “Africa for the Africans, at home and abroad”. The aims and objectives of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (U.N.I.A.) were to establish schools and colleges for the education of all africans. Marcus Garvey lived from 1887 to 1940. The founding of the U.N.I.A started in his jamaican homeland in 1914. From 1916 to 1927 he lived in the United States of America. Ten years after his deportation from United States, two years after relocated in UK, and three years before his death, Marcus Garvey introduced his “Course of African Philosophy”. The chapter 1 of this course is titled “Intelligence, Education, Universal Knowledge and How To Get It”. The next chapters are about various topics such as : Leadership – Aims and Objects of U.N.I.A. – Elocution – God – Christ – Cheracter – The Social System – Diplomacy – Economy – Man – The purpose of Institutions – The Universe – Self Initiative – Personality – Propaganda – Communism – Commercial & Industrial Transactions – Living for something.... "I know no national boundary where the Negro is concerned. The whole world is my province until Africa is free” - Marcus Garvey quote.

calendar. This day was also the NEW

YEAR IN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN TIMES.

Today this fest is also ONE DATE referenceD in the Rasta

culture.

Ethiopia calendar is very similar to the Ancient Egyptian calendar. Both calendars have 13 months per year, 12 months of 30 days each plus an intercalary month of 5 or 6 days. Each month is composed with 3 weeks of 10 days. September 11 (September 12th in leap years) is the first day of the first month of the Year, celebrated with the feast of the new year. This 1rst day is named Tut 1 in the Egyptian calendar and Meskerem 1 in Coptic Calendar. This day is also called Enkutatash meaning the “gift of jewels.” When the famous Queen of Sheba returned from her expensive jaunt to visit King Solomon in Jerusalem, her chiefs welcomed her back by replenishing her treasury with enku or jewels. The spring festival has been celebrated since these early times and as the rains come to their abrupt end, dancing and singing can be heard at every village in the green countryside. After dark on New Year’s Eve people light fires outside their houses. In the rastafarian culture, this fest of the New Year is also very important. Indeed, Ethiopia is the birthplace of his Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie, the Negus of Negus, the king of kings, whose lineage brings back to King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. Ethiopia is also the symbol of Africa, the mother earth of repatriation prophesied by Marcus Garvey.

DECEMBER 2013 JAH SUN CELEBRATIONS December is a special month. For many people "December 25th" represents the chrismas time. Nowadays more and more people start also to know that December hides full of winter-solstice celebrations because this is the time when the day begins to last longer than the night. The sun is said to be "born again," "renewed" or "resurrected".Many winter-solstice festivals and celebrations of the coming "new sun" can be found since ancient times in numerous civilisations around the world. Rastaman use the word of Rising Sun referring to Jah Rastafari, one of the main title given to H.I.M Haile Selassie I. The meaning of Jah Rastafari draws upon the ancient African concept of Almighty Creator / Creation. For the rastaman, HailĂŠ SĂŠlassie I is Jah Rastafari (Jah Live Itinually), and the rastafarians see Jah Glory in the 'morning) rising sun. As a Rastafarian, rastaman do not celebrate Chrismas. Some rastas agree with the principle of Kwanzaa, as this fest focus on the traditional African values.

THE WEED THING WITH

HEMPRESS SATIVA Let's Talk about you and about the weed thing. Why have you decided to talk in your music about the weed? Hempress sativa foremost is a Humilitant Servant of His Imperial Majesty the Emperor Haile Selassie I and the balance of the Earth the Queen of Queens Her Majesty Empress Menen. I'N'I consider music to be the soundtrack to Life as such I create music for the Mind, Goody and Soul, music that is spirited, music that inspires, music with a message. I Love for the Arts began at a young age, I grew up to my dad (JahLove Musik Selector ILAWI) preparing and selecting music for upcoming dances and it was there that I grew in love with music. The Weed thing is produced by UTH Music and it samples Fu Gee La by the Fugee's. Being an activist for legislative reform of the Marijuana Law and a chanter I saw it fit to use Music as the best medium to educate the society on a whole about the benefits of the Cannabis Plant despite all Babylonian Propaganda. Music as according to the Legendary Bob Marley is gonna teach dem a lesson... Then I'N'I see Iself as a Teacher.

What is coming next (future projects) ? The next project is the Album to be titled UnConqueRebel (currently being worked on). What about your name Hempress Sativa : is there a link with your real name ? How this name came to you ? The Name Hempress Sativa is no way linked to my birth given name. The name came about in 2007 while watching Weed Wars at that time I'N'I was blazing a spliff and enlightening I mind with the influx of information being broadcasted. As if an epiphany it came to mind and I heard in the Heavens Hempress Sativa. I name Hempress Sativa represents the Highest level of consciousness musically! Could you tell us something about the bush tea, your favorite bush (out of the ganja) and what exactly can we find in a your yard ? I have no fave but where bush tea is concerned it is always recommended that you let them dry before use. Don't play with NATURAL BLACK How did you choose Natural Black ? This name can help your fans to understand better your music ? When I was living in Guyana I used to wear mostly Black and White, so people used to call me Black and White, after migrating to Jamaica the people them that I was around rename me and that’s how I got the name Natural Black. I want to make sure I’m always representing my roots, and keeping everything natural and royal. It’s definitely a tribute to Mama Earth, Black people and really, MY life. I’m proud of my Rastafarian faith and my heritage…so I named myself that so people can always know exactly what I represent. Naturalness mi seh. Could you present Natural Black with only 5 songs ? If yes, which ones will you choose and why ? Don’t know this…Nice it Nice… Far From Reality… Badmind… Life Be The Same… and Songs With Feelings… Because they are all social songs, about the plight of people around the world. I want to give the poor, the repressed and the under-represented a voice. Music is a vehicle to spread the word and emotions of people we can’t see or touch, and I’m trying to use music to do my part in this world. What about your musical news ? With my new songs, I’m trying to reach different audiences through songs that they all listen to. So I have the trademark conscious reggae song with “Free Again,” then something for the dancehall crowd with “Party Truck,” the weed tune for the Rastas with “Natural Chronix” and of course, something special for the ladies with “Don’t Play With My Heart”.

My new mission is to make sure I’m spreading my message as much as I can, so I’m working in the studios and different producers to bring the different vibes to the fans dem. I’m touring in the US and Various parts of the World, and I see how much the music is still loved all over the world. Currently working in the studio on new stuff always and making my craft better. Concerning your newest releases : What kind of message come out of them ? I want people to be true to themselves, and kind to others in relationships and mankind overall….and of course, to fulljoy themselves and have a good time. This is our life and our Heaven on Earth. What about the music industry today ? What are your projects for the future ? Dancehall music seems to be in a real decline but reggae lives on. I think we just have to make sure the producers are making quality tracks and we are doing our part as singers and songwriters to honour these productions. I see myself making more music. I’m working on a new EP with new singles and doing new videos too. I just released two new videos for “Party Truck” and “Don’t Play With My Heart” and I have two more coming shortly. So I’m working hard in the studio and on touring and creating so I can keep my music coming more in the future. Last words are yours.. I’d just like everyone to stay good and stay kind to others….just be natural to the world and the Earth. Life is a cycle and everything comes around, so let’s each do our part to honor this life and this world we live in.

ERROL ORGANS THE new messenjah

from trench town

You are coming from the home of Reggae Music, Trench Town. Your voice sounds like the legendary Bob Marley. How you react to that? One more question on this topic :You have been traveling around the world, how Trench Town keeps being special to you? Hearing that all the time makes me get used to it, so after a while it becomes normal. But i like hearing it. Trench Town remains special Because even when i write, I put myself Spiritually there So I'm writing from Trench Town, even though I'm not there. What about your new song 'On That Day' ? Can you give us the story and the message of this good song ? The story behind that song is simple mon. On that great great day, which Babylon don’t want my people to know, is that there will come that day when all will be new, no more of this Old sinful ways of Man. The message of this song, is that we must look for that Day, which to some is possible, and some impossible. And that’s where the Babylon Mystery comes in, as there are few who has solved Jah mystery.

28

What are your current and future musical project ? My current and future projects are one and the same, to keep creating music, and to Play them in front of a world Audience, and my next Album, which will be released in January of 2014, will continue to give me the opportunity to do just that. How would you define your music and the purpose of your music ? Well, I would define my music as Reggae, or Roots Reggae, because is how you sing, and what you say that creates that vibe. Its not the music. The Purpose of our music, is to teach my people righteousness and to always have and never give up the faith. Last words are yours ...

Well, Jah bless and keep you all, Kings and Queens, Rich and Poor, Small and Great. And don't forget, to Always have Goodwill on your Mind.
