Nichelous
Biography
Nichelous is from Spanish Town, an area with a rich music heritage, built around sound systems and independent producers. In 1997, Nicholas Fearon left Jamaica for Aruba, where he has settled and worked in that country's tourism industry. He never officially launched a music career, until the day when he has listened to a Garvey feature on Mutabaruka's Cutting Edge show on Irie FM. "He wasn't only talking about black pride, but the importance of self-reliance which couldn't be more relevant today," said Nichelous. "If I got the teachings of Marcus Garvey in school I would be a better man today." This meditation is the roots of his first single which is titled Rise Marcus, done in tribute to Jamaican National Hero Marcus Mosiah Garvey. The song was produced by Inhouse Music and released on the Bonner Corner Stone Music, during a visit to Jamaica in July 2012. “This is my first locally released single and I am expecting big things to happen with it. Right now the Bonner Corner Stone team and I are doing some serious promotion on this song and we are getting some really good feedback about it. A lot of people really love it because of the positive message in the song about Marcus Garvey and his works, said the artiste. Nichelous has been singing since he was a little boy growing up in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. For him music was always his main form of expression during those early days while attending the YMCA School. As time went by he got more seriously involved with music and began singing on sound-systems in and around his home town, such as Earth Shaker Sound and Youth Man Survival. Nichelous got his first studio experience at People’s Choice studio in Spanish Town, when he went there to record dub-plates for Earth Shaker Sound. However Nichelous did not launch his recording career until he moved to live in the island of Aruba in the late 1990s. To date he has recorded a number of singles in Aruba. He has also done a number of shows in Aruba. The talented singer/songwriter who list Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Garnett Silk, Richie Spice and Buju Banton as his main musical influences is working assiduously to build his name worldwide. His greatest ambition is to walk in the footsteps of his musical idols and help to preserve roots reggae music in its purest form.
