Context Producing ‘alternate’ clothing brands is huge in today’s world. Anyone with Adobe Illustrator and a screen-bed can produce a ‘brand’. It’s almost a subculture in itself. What sets us apart is we are trained graphic designers with a great eye for design and identity. An opportunity to mix these fundamental skills that others don’t have creates great potential. Expanding on our prior experiences in launching clothing brands, and using the space and freedom of our final year and past experiences to go above and beyond. Engaging in fashion design, environmental & film direction and print based work. Opening up opportunities for numerous collaborations and huge potential.

Brief Create a new and exciting clothing brand, focusing on the West Yorkshire and Leeds demographic. Producing contemporary clothing with an exciting and innovative brand identity and process. Considering a variety of media from film and apparel to print.

Preparation When would be the best time to launch the clothing label, and what would be a unique and impressive way to promote the launch? The independent clothing market is flooded with ‘brands’, how can you set yourself apart in terms of process, visuals, experience and identity? Market research into suitable demographics for a clear market and target audience. Existing print, video, packaging, clothing and general products that already exist out there in similar markets.

Evidence Range of clothing and apparel, look-books, tags, packaging and wide range of tactile material with clear brand identity. TV idents + Short films promoting launch of the collection. A successful launch-event with photo and video documentation.

--Development and logging on online blogs. Constant feedback, and refinement and further exploration through peer critiques. Consideration of all relevant formats and media. On-going experimentations with stock, layout and web user experience. Market research into target markets, existing products, location and timing of launch. Research into appealing UI design.
