Context SomethinkSounds is a record label based in London and Berlin, being one of the few independent labels based in two discinct countries and environments at the same time. Somethinksounds predominantly caters for electronic and house music artists – dropping some of the biggest releases from artists such as Cyril Hahn and Lokiboi. Our tone of voice, and brand ethos revolves around relaxed vibes, and good music. Brief or Tasks Completely reimagine SomethinkSounds and its identity, including a new logo and new material that works and translates collaboratively across print and web. Somethinksounds is gearing up to release a 12” EP for Eliphino, titled Undivided Whole. Design artwork, packaging and vinyl stickers for Undivided Whole. Consider a design system, and language that can be applied to this and all future releases. As part of the release, we are holding launch parties across London, and Berlin. Design wheatpaste posters for these too, at A1 and A0 scale. Also consider extension of the brand across all relevant context and media, for example tickets, idents, CD’s, 7” releases, Print and Digital campaigns etc. Preparation/Research suggestions Existing website: http://www.somethinksounds.com/ The target audience and general culture of house, and electronic music undeniably has connections with drugs, sex and partying – predominantly younger 18-25 demographic. How can we play on this situation for the brand? Concept of catering relaxed vibes, along with tone of voice will be key factors in creating a link with the target audience. Evidence – for this project students should submit Brand Guidelines and Identity Application handbooks. Print and Digital PDF ready for client.
