News Letter February 2014

Welcome to the children and families who have joined us in January. I hope both children and adults will soon be settled and familiar to staff. I hope all our children and families are managing to keep warm and dry in this awful weather. Please make use of the facilities and services at the centre, timetables are available in reception.

The nursery children have really enjoyed reading the stories ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and ‘The Three Little Pigs’ in room one and have built a big house from boxes and decorated it with straw, sticks and bricks. In room two the children have been reading ‘The Gingerbread Man’ and ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. Through these stories the children have been able to learn all about sizes, prepositions and sequencing. They have all enjoyed joining in with, and acting out the stories. After the half term holiday the nursery children will continue to explore these stories and will be making gingerbread men and tasting porridge. They will also be celebrating Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day) as well as World Book Day to which you will all be invited. You will also be invited to come and join in with our ‘Better Together’ sessions where you will be able to have fun making play dough with your children.

Kind regards, Margot Dixon Staff will also be inviting you to join in with our Better Together sessions where you will be able to have some fun making playdough with the children. Red Group has welcomed Simma into the team following Pat’s retirement in early January. Everyone was sorry to see Pat leave after many years with us at Abbey Green but she comes in every Tuesday afternoon and is busy making the corridors look great with fabulous displays and information for you.

Purple and Blue Group This upcoming term we will be looking at our families and special people around us. We are asking parents and families to get involved by sharing their family photos and activities, experiences which you enjoy at home together. We will be making special photo books for all children and will share these as a group talking about things that are special to us. Blue Group has also welcomed children accessing Early Education for Two Year Olds. If you would like more information about our two year old education places please ask at the office where staff will be happy to help you.
