This term seems to have flown by and we are almost at the end of another year! I wish everyone seasonal greetings and peace and happiness in the New Year. Kind regards, Margot Dixon This half term the children have been busy experiencing Autumn and finding out about the changing seasons. They have been learning about our core stories of Elmer, Rainbow Fish and Whatever Next! They have explored different colours and patterns, played sharing games, made their own rockets and had lots of fun acting out the stories. They have also been getting ready for Christmas, decorating the Christmas tree and singing Christmas songs.

After the Christmas break the children in the nursery school will be looking at some traditional stories. In Room 1 they will be reading the stories, The Three Little Pigs and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. There will be opportunities to find out about different materials and their uses, creating large scale models and collages and finding out about different sizes. In Room 2 the children will be reading the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Here we will explore the concept of size and make some different flavoured porridge. Then we will discover the Gingerbread Man story where we will learn about sequencing, 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. and make some yummy Gingerbread biscuits.

The children in Blue Group will be looking at the story ‘Dear Zoo’. We will be learning about the animals in the book, learning their names and the sounds that they make. We will be doing lots of creative activities based around animals. We will also be looking at each others family pictures so, if you have any family photos we would love it if you could bring them in for us to see.
