WELCOME
Welcome to a New Year here at The Abbey Theatre. We are all very excited about the upcoming season with a whole range of events on offer to suit everybody. We of course open the season with the traditional family pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs brought to you by the incredible talent of PR Productions. Musicals are also represented with productions of Bugsy Malone and High School Musical Junior. Why not check out the local drama scene? In February the award-winning Sudden Impulse bring you Laura Wade’s POSH, a tight drama featuring some outstanding acting by the same group that brought you Lord of the Flies and The History Boys. We will also be playing host to the Warwickshire One Act Play Festival in March which showcases some great drama from across Warwickshire and beyond. Why not try something different and book yourself a ticket. Nuneaton Scouts and Guides return in March for the ever popular Nuneaton Gang Show. Following the success last year of our very first comedy night, we welcome back Funhouse Comedy Club as a regular feature to our programme. The next comedy night is on 6th February and there are other events throughout the year. We are particularly proud to welcome two legends to the theatre; TV magician Paul Daniels and his assistant Debbie McGee will be wowing audiences on 11th February with their Intimate Magic Tour. In March we also welcome the legendary folk singer Maddy Prior, alongside Hannah James and Giles Lewin. I hope you will agree that with Magic, Music, Drama and Dance there is something to suit all tastes and there is more to come later in the year with hit musicals such as Evita, The Producers and the greatest show on earth – BARNUM!

TALON: THE ACOUSTIC COLLECTION FRI 5 FEB, 8.00PM Back in 2009, Talon began a labour of love. Five years later with the release of their critically acclaimed acoustic studio album, ‘The Acoustic Collection’, has to their amazement, taken on a life of its own. Last year they enjoyed a sell out UK tour and a cruise to the beautiful Norwegian fjords on-board the Fred Olsen flagship ‘Balmoral’. The tour also spawned a brilliant new ‘LIVE’ acoustic album entitled ‘In The Raw’. In 2016 the show will once again be touring the UK and if you have not seen ‘The Acoustic Collection’ before then you are in for a real treat. Sat on bar stools and armed with no more than their trademark four part vocal harmony, acoustic instruments and laid back banter, Talon will leave you spellbound. Come and experience the other side of Talon as they perform a wide and varied selection of their own arrangements of contemporary acoustic classics from the 1920’s to the present day. WED 24 - SAT 27 FEB The RIOT CLUB is back in business. The members of an elite student dining society are bunkering down for a wild night of debauchery, decadence and bloody good wine. But this isn’t just a jolly: they’re planning a revolution. Savagely funny and horribly pertinent.
This play contains strong language and may not be suitable for under 14s. ‘Beautifully observed… Wade’s gifts as a satirist are beyond doubt’ ‘Scabrously funny, disgustingly smug, and deeply disturbing… the play of the year so far’ TO BOOK CALL 07899 406843

SUN 20 MAR, 2.30PM & 7.30PM
TUE 2 - THU 4 FEB, 7.30PM
It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations, and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock Troy discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical, led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.
Two gangs comprised completely of children, square off in a 1920’s rivalry of Capone-ian standards. Dandy Dan’s gang has gotten the upper hand since obtaining the “splurge” gun (a weapon that shoots whip cream). Now Fat Sam and his bumbling buffoons are in real trouble! Bugsy Malone, a onetime boxer, is thrust not-so-willingly into the gangster limelight, when he becomes the last chance Fat Sam’s gang has of surviving. All Bugsy really wants to do is spend time with his new love Blousey; but that just isn’t in the cards for our hero.

BARNUM
MON 13 - SAT 18 JUN In the middle of the 19th century, Phineas Taylor Barnum introduces his circus acts as he stands in front of a tent, proclaiming “There Is a Sucker Born Ev’ry Minute”. He loves spectacle and excitement, using hype and “humbug” to promote his exhibits. His wife Charity disagrees with his use of “humbug” but loves him and aims to keep him grounded. Barnum then introduces the oldest woman alive, Joice Heth. His wife Charity urges him to get a job in a factory, but Barnum refuses. He enlists clowns to help in building a museum to house his attractions. For the very first time, Nuneaton Arts Council is sponsoring a full scale musical production, bringing talent in from a wider area to deliver a quality performance of a family favourite.
