American Business Council Hosts Annual Arab Health Breakfast DUBAI – JANUARY 29, 2013 The American Business Council of Dubai & the Northern Emirates (ABC) hosted industry leaders from healthcare and pharmaceutical companies, Arab Health exhibitors, local representatives and government officials at its annual Arab Health Breakfast on Tuesday January 29, 2013 at the Ritz Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre. The event welcomed a large crowd of ABC members and guests including U.S. Ambassador Michael Corbin, Pennsylvania State Senator Mike Brubaker, U.S. Consul General Robert Waller, Director of the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development Franz Kolb, General Manager of Pfizer and Co-Chairman of the ABC Health Sector Task Force, Dr. Zeydan Abuissa, and host of the U.S. International Pavilion at Arab Health 2013, Tom Kallman, CEO of Kallman Worldwide Inc. The breakfast highlighted Arab Health 2013 and the work of the ABC Health Sector Task Force, which was charged with reviewing U.S. business engagement in the United Arab Emirates. American Business Council President Ramsey Jurdi provided welcome remarks and addressed the group of senior government officials and executives by saying "one of the ABC's objectives is to be the voice of American business in Dubai and bring added value to our members by acting as an advocate for U.S. business interests in the U.A.E." After providing a brief overview, Ramsey Jurdi introduced Dr. Zeydan Abuissa. During his keynote address, Dr. Abuissa highlighted the current issues facing the health sector and the Task Force's recommendations for helping U.S. business thrive in the U.A.E . In his comments, Dr. Abuissa noted that addressing such issues as the optimization of the distributor network, accessing direct
to pharmacy delivery, developing new anti-counterfeiting strategies and integrating insurance regulations will become a cornerstone of the health sector task force focus for 2013. U.S. Consul General in Dubai, Robert Waller provided closing comments on the local business environment and the surge in bilateral trade between the United States and the UAE over the past two years. He noted that the American Business Council of Dubai & the Northern Emirates and AmCham Abu Dhabi are valuable resources for U.S. companies doing business in this region.
