Train Employees Properly A safety policy covers procedures for the following: Lockout and tagging of conductors and parts of electrical equipment De-energizing circuits and equipment safely Verifying circuits have been de-energized Re-energizing circuits and equipment properly

Inspect for Potential Electrical Risks An average of 143 construction workers are killed each year by contact with electricity2, so it’s critically important to check for potential risks such as: Contact with power lines Lack of ground-fault protection Equipment not used in manner prescribed Improper use of extension and flexible cords

Meet to Discuss Employee Safety Hold regular team meetings to address electrical incidents and proper responses Refresh training, preparedness, and education around electrical safety Make sure all team members are trained to respond to an incident involving electrocution or burn
