WHO WE ARE

Q

atar Charity is a Doha-based non-governmental organization founded in 1992 in accordance with the laws and regulations governing charitable work in the State of Qatar. The Qatari society was expressing a deep willingness to contribute to the international solidarity chain and to participate in addressing the most important development and humanitarian challenges faced by vulnerable communities around the world. This willingness was derived from the Qatari society’s values, principles and cultural heritage and Qatar Charity came as the institutional solution that would cater to it. It’s Initially founded to provide life-saving assistance to children affected by conflicts or natural disasters, Qatar Charity then expanded its areas of expertise to include various humanitarian and development aid fields in which it has spent more than $1.3bn between 2012 and 2017, providing relief and assistance to more than 187 million beneficiaries worldwide.​

QATAR CHARITY QATAR CHARITY AND GOVERNANCE: Qatar Charity’s governance is built around three main structures:

A

An open-ended General Assembly in accordance with the provisions of the law and regulations, which is the highest reporting body in the organization.

B

An elected board of directors, consisting of nine members, who shall assume general supervision over the administration of the Assembly and shall be accountable to the general assembly.

C

An executive Chief Officer responsible for the management of the organization who is supervised and accountable to the board of directors.

Qatar Charity is a pioneering developmental and humanitarian organization that draws on various human experiences to make a strong and sustainable impact on people’s lives.

MISSION

Qatar Charity supports the most vulnerable groups in cooperation with development and humanitarian partners in regards to the principles of human dignity and social justice.

VALUES

Qatar Charity bases its work and organizational behavior on a set of deep-rooted values which represent the culture and the identity of the organization: humanity, independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, transparency, professionalism, cooperation and belonging.

STRATEGIC GOALSÂ In order to achieve its mission, Qatar Charity works both in humanitarian and development fields on six different levels :

Empowering capable but needy communities through livelihood enhancement and economic empowerment.

Providing care for vulnerable communities through the support of the formal or informal social welfare systems.

Providing access for vulnerable local communities to essential services in the fields of food security, health, drinking water, social housing, education, livelihoods and others.

Alleviating suffering through emergency humanitarian response and through localization of humanitarian aid.

Advocating for the vulnerable communities at the policy-making level by taking into consideration their legitimate demands to live in dignity.

Achieving synergy and promoting equal partnerships among humanitarian and development aid stakeholders for a stronger and more sustainable impact.

WHERE WE WORK: Qatar Charity has a wide geographical reach spanning more than 50 countries across Africa, Asia and Europe. For its local programs, Qatar Charity takes into consideration the local humanitarian and development needs and doesn’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. Qatar Charity targets the countries in which it implements its projects in an objective and transparent manner consistent with its values:
